Abstract

Shipping safety is important not only when docked at the port or when the ship is sailing but also when the ship is at anchor. This study aims to determine the cause of the anchor heave-up failure of MV Warih Mas in Palu Bay and to explore factors, strategies, and maintenance practices related to anchor equipment on the ship. The study uses a qualitative approach, and the data will be presented through descriptive analysis. The study participants include the ship's master and crew. Data collection methods include direct observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies, while data analysis consists of three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and verification. The results indicate that the cause of the failure was corrosion of the anchor chain due to prolonged exposure to water in the chain locker. Three strategies were attempted, but only one was successful: Inserting iron into the chain link of the anchor on the windlass drum to allow the chain to rotate. The crew did not carry out maintenance on the anchor equipment, possibly due to a lack of skills and training.

Abstract

The application of accounting standards in the country in the management of regional finance has an impact on regional budget implementation responsibility reports (APBD). This type of research is quantitative descriptive and describes the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Meanwhile, human resource factors, treasurer facilities, and infrastructure, treasurer's term of office, regulations, the intensity of management training, and accountability of SKPD treasurers, as well as unclear roles in the Aceh Tamiang district government have a big influence—the impact of the timeliness of submitting regional government accountability reports. In several cases, the variable intensity of administrative training and responsibilities of SKPD accountants (X5), as well as the ambiguity of the role (X6) produced a positive impact on the timeliness of government reporting in the regions.

Abstract

An emergency generator is a backup generator that is used only for emergencies. When the ship operates normally, the generator is on stand-by or ready to be activated at any time. During an emergency, such as when the ship experiences damage that causes the main propulsion power source, auxiliary machinery, and other equipment to stop operating due to a lack of electricity supply from a failure in the electrical system, the emergency generator system is needed to replace the function of the ship's main generator. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. The results of this research can be summarized as follows: 1) The implementation of work safety on ships is considered less than optimal; 2) The implementation of work safety significantly influences the mentality and quality of work; and 3) Supervision activities on board the ship are carried out through safety meetings.

Abstract

Ships are vessels used for transporting passengers and goods across bodies of water, such as rivers and seas, using canoes or smaller boats. Fires on ships can occur due to various reasons, including interference with electrical and electronic equipment, as well as flammable liquids like gasoline, grease, and gas leaks. This study adopts a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection methods such as direct field observation, in-depth interviews with involved parties, and documentation/library research. The research findings highlight two main points: 1) The factors leading to decreased functionality of fire alarm sensors are the lack of maintenance and repair of the system; and 2) A decreased fire alarm system may fail to detect fire or smoke in specific areas, potentially leading to accidents or severe damage to the ship.

Abstract

Abstract

Safety at sea is a top priority in the maritime industry. Accidents can occur on land or aboard ships, often due to negligence regarding safety protocols. An analysis of accidents reveals that each incident has a causal factor. Ship operations involve various tasks, both light and heavy, which pose risks to crew safety. This study employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing direct observation of the ship and conducting interviews to gather necessary research data, along with reading and referencing various materials. The findings of this study are as follows: 1) Accidents involving crew members often result from failing to adhere to established safety standards, specifically, those outlined in the Safety Management System (SMS) on the ship; 2) The consequences of such accidents can include eye infections caused by rust or corrosion fragments entering the eyes. Affected crew members must receive special treatment on land after initial care is provided by the 2nd officer, which includes rinsing the eyes with an eyewash solution; and 3) To improve safety for the crew, the Captain should instruct all crew members to review the procedures outlined in the Safety Management System (SMS) regularly. Additionally, the Captain should emphasize these procedures during meetings and actively monitor any potentially hazardous work activities.

Abstract

Occupational safety and health play a crucial role in the workplace, significantly impacting a company's productivity and success. Companies need to implement specific techniques and tools to foster a safe work environment that promote occupational health and safety. Many organizations now adopt the philosophy of "safety first," ensuring workers have access to robust safety measures. Work accidents can occur anywhere—at the workplace, while commuting, or even at home. Preventing these accidents requires adherence to occupational safety instructions provided by the company and the proper use of safety equipment that meets established standards. If safety protocols are not executed effectively or according to well-defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), it can lead to negative consequences for both the company and its employees. Such lapses can result in delayed work and decreased productivity, ultimately causing financial losses for the company and hindering workers' performance.
