Abstract

The Meaning and Message of Moral Values ​​in the Hela Keta Traditional Ritual According to the Marriage of the Oepikan Tribe, As Manulea Village, Sasitamean District, Malaka Regency". The problem in this study is how the meaning and message of moral values ​​in the hela keta traditional ritual according to the marriage of the Oepikan Tribe, As Manulea Village, Sasitamean District, Malaka Regency. The purpose of this study is adjusted to the research problem, namely to describe the initial story of the philosophy of the hela keta traditional ritual in the marriage ceremony at the Oepikan Tribe Marriage, As Manulea Village, Sasitamean District, Malaka Regency. The method used in this study is the Qualitative method. The data collection techniques used in this study are interviews and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are data collection, data reduction, data assessment, and data interpretation. The results of the study show that the hela keta traditional ritual began in ancient times, various tribes lived in the place now called the Oepikan Tribe Marriage, their livelihoods were farmers. As a result of the many tribes inhabiting the place, the stock of food supplies has also run low. As a result, war was inevitable, the aftermath of the war was lasit fekan (broken relationship), this also had a major impact on the marriage system at that time. Aware of this, the tribal leaders sat down and discussed to find a solution to this problem, and the hela keta traditional ritual was created. The meaning of the hela keta traditional ritual is as a cleansing or purification from the curses of ancestors who fought in ancient times, and also the moral value message that can be taken from the hela keta traditional ritual, namely that the hela keta traditional ritual can repair and also unite the two large families of the tribe that had been broken up due to war.

Abstract

This research was intended to develop speaking activities in students’ textbook for senior high school. This study aims to develop speaking materials based on Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL). Based on the preliminary research, there was limited speaking activities in that textbook that can minimize the students to speak. The writers chose one topic to be developed entitled complimenting and showing care in the 2nd chapter. The reason of choosing that topic is that there are limited activities for speaking section. There are limited instructions used for students to express their idea orally. As we know that as a senior high school student, he or she has to be able to speak English orally. But if in the textbook does not provide enough instruction especially in speaking, it is useless. So the material should be developed. The writers is interested to develop that material in order to give the students opportunities to practice speaking orally based on their real life in learning English especially in speaking. Based on the result from previous findings, the writers expects that by giving some activities related to speaking, the students are able to express their idea orally. Because in that textbook limited of speaking activities that can minimize the students to speak, so the writers provided some instructional skill that can be useful for the students.

Abstract

The development of mobile technology provides new opportunities for independent English learning through digital applications. This community service research aims to implement training on the use of Duolingo and HelloTalk English applications at Leona High School, Lotas Village, Rinhat District. The training was conducted in two weeks, combining lecture methods, demonstrations, direct practice, group discussions, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results showed an increase in the average score from 55 to 78 (p < 0.001), with 72% of participants consistently studying daily during the training. In addition to improving basic English skills (vocabulary, reading comprehension, and sentence structure), the training also succeeded in building independent learning habits and digital literacy. Obstacles emerged, especially internet access and limited premium features on some applications. Advanced programs (advanced grammar & speaking), mentoring, and provision of digital infrastructure support are recommended
