Abstract

Computational thinking is a method or problem-solving technique that uses concepts from computer science, some characteristics of computational thinking are abstraction, problem decomposition, algorithmic thinking, and generalization. One of the efforts that can generally be done to facilitate students' computational thinking is to facilitate teaching materials (e-modules). Several previous studies have conducted various developments of mathematics e-modules, but there are several weaknesses including the materials and instruments are less related to the context or local issues in the student's environment, the materials and instruments are not oriented to the computational thinking aspect, the e-modules developed pay less attention to the interactivity aspect, so that students do not get optimal feedback from teachers and make it difficult for teachers to control students' abilities, and the e-modules developed do not facilitate students' diverse initial abilities, so a personalized approach is needed in developing e-modules. Therefore, this study aims to produce interactive mathematics e-modules based on local issues or local issues with a personalized approach to facilitate junior high school students' computational thinking abilities. This research is a research & development (R&D) using the Borg and Gall development model. The results of our study indicate that interactive mathematics e-modules based on local issues or local issues with a personalized approach are declared feasible, practical, and effective in facilitating junior high school students' computational thinking. These findings can provide significant contributions in the field of education, especially in teaching mathematics that is more contextual and adaptive to students' needs.

Abstract

This study aims to enhance the computational thinking skills of middle school students using an adaptive e-module based on cognitive levels and local context. The research design employed is a pretest-posttest control group experimental design, with a sample consisting of 52 students divided into an experimental group of 26 students who used the adaptive e-module for learning, and a control group of 26 students who learned through conventional teaching methods. Data collection techniques included interviews, questionnaires, assessments of the adaptive e-module by teachers, and computational thinking skill tests in mathematics. The results of this development research include a teaching module based on cognitive levels and local wisdom, which met the feasibility criteria with a score of 48.5 out of a maximum score of 60, and media expert evaluation with a score of 31 out of a total of 40. Furthermore, the practicality test results showed 85% by students and 82.81% by teachers. The effectiveness test results indicated that the average computational thinking skill scores in the experimental class were 67.6 (pre-test) and 88.07 (post-test), while the control class scored 58.2 (pre-test) and 77.4 (post-test), leading to the rejection of the null hypothesis, which means there is a significant difference between the experimental group using the e-module and the control group

Abstract

Mastery of basic competencies in Mathematics is a crucial aspect that supports students' academic success. However, field observations indicate that students' ability to understand mathematical concepts remains relatively low, which negatively affects their learning outcomes. This community service activity aims to provide guidance to students at MTs Muhammadiyah Nusa Puan, Buano Utara Village, in order to enhance their competence in Mathematics through a contextual learning approach. The implementation methods include the delivery of learning materials, question-and-answer sessions, group discussions, and evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests. The results of the activity show a significant improvement in students’ understanding of mathematical material, both in terms of learning motivation and critical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems. Thus, competence development through a contextual approach has proven to make a tangible contribution to improving the quality of mathematics learning in schools.

Abstract

Abstract

This study applied speech act theory to analyze Surah Al-Ma'un, the 107th chapter of the Qur'an, to understand how its verses function to convey powerful moral and social messages. The research utilized a qualitative descriptive approach with a focus on pragmatic analysis, drawing upon J.L. Austin and John Searle's Speech Act Theory. Data sources included the original Arabic text of Surah Al-Ma'un, along with reliable English translations and tafsir literature. The analysis categorized the different types of speech acts found in the surah, including assertive, directive, expressive, and commissive functions, and explored their roles in communicating ethical and social meanings. The findings revealed that the Qur'anic language in Surah Al-Ma'un is not merely informative but also transformative, encouraging reflection, emotional response, and real-life action. The verses were found to criticize disbelief, hypocrisy in worship, and the neglect of social duties towards the poor and orphaned. This study also contextualized these findings within the Muhammadiyah movement, demonstrating how the Surah's messages have been translated into practical social actions such as the establishment of orphanages, zakat institutions, schools, and health clinics. The research concluded that Surah Al-Ma'un provides a blueprint for ethical and social action in Muslim communities, highlighting the dynamic role of Qur'anic language in promoting active faith and social justice.
