Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis produktivitas alat tangkap pancing di Pelabuhan Perikanan Pantai (PPP) Blanakan Subang. Produktivitas dinilai berdasarkan hasil tangkapan per unit alat tangkap dalam satuan ton per gross tonnage (GT) per tahun. Penelitian dilakukan selama periode Januari 2016 hingga Januari 2017 dengan metode pengumpulan data primer melalui observasi dan wawancara, serta data sekunder dari laporan hasil tangkapan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa produktivitas alat tangkap pancing mencapai rata-rata 2,87 ton/GT/tahun. Faktor-faktor seperti musim paceklik, subsidi bahan bakar, dan kondisi perairan turut mempengaruhi produktivitas penangkapan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pentingnya inovasi dan pengelolaan sumber daya perikanan yang efisien untuk mendukung keberlanjutan sektor perikanan tangkap  khususnya di PPP Blanakan.

Abstract

Artocarpus stems (Artocarpus sp.) and Carex grass (Carex sp.) have not been applied to fishing gear materials. The fibers produced made into a rope, where this rope is used to absorption and sinking speed test in fresh water and sea water.The absorption of Artocarpus stems rope was 320.30% and 282,60% in fresh water and sea water. Meanwhile for sinking speed have a 5,78 cm/s and 5,08 cm/s for fresh water and sea water. For the Carex grass rope, the absorption in fresh water and sea water was 287,67% and 218,02%. Sinking speed value 2,97 cm/s and 2,67 cm/s for fresh water and sea water. The value of absorption and sinking speed in fresh water is higher than in sea water for both types of rope.

Abstract

Sibolga City is one of the coastal areas in North Sumatra Province that plays a vital role in Indonesia’s marine and fisheries sector. This study aims to analyze the supply chain system of dried salted fish in Sibolga City, which includes three main components: the product flow, information flow, and financial flow. The research was conducted in September 2025 using a descriptive method with a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach. Primary data were obtained through interviews and field observations involving fishermen, dried salted fish processors, collectors, retailers, and the Department of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (DKP) of Sibolga City. In contrast, secondary data were derived from DKP reports. The results showed that there are three main supply chain patterns: (1) fisherman–processor–collector–retailer–consumer, (2) fisherman–processor–collector–consumer, and (3) fisherman–processor–direct consumer. On average, dried salted fish processors in Sibolga can produce between 100 and 200 kg per day, depending on the availability of raw materials. Shorter distribution channels generate higher efficiency by reducing marketing costs, accelerating the flow of information and finance, and maintaining product quality. This study concludes that the dried salted fish supply chain in Sibolga City has been functioning but remains sub-optimal. Strengthening coordination among actors, improving access to formal financing, and utilizing information technology in distribution and marketing are necessary to enhance efficiency and increase the added value of dried salted fish products at the local level.

Abstract

Belawan Ocean Fishing Port plays a strategic role in the capture fisheries management system in western Indonesia. The high intensity of port operational activities contributes to increasing waste generation, which may adversely affect environmental quality and fisheries sustainability. This study aimed to evaluate the operational waste management system at Belawan Ocean Fishing Port and to examine its implications for fisheries management. An exploratory descriptive approach supported by quantitative estimation was applied. Data were collected through field observations, semi structured interviews with ten key informants, and document analysis of relevant regulations and official reports. Waste generation was estimated based on the number of vessels landing daily and the average waste generated per vessel. The results indicate that operational waste at Belawan Ocean Fishing Port consists of solid waste, liquid waste, and hazardous waste. The estimated daily waste generation reached approximately ±800 kg of solid waste, ±2.5 m³ of liquid waste, and ±10 liters of hazardous waste. The existing waste management system has not been standardized, as reflected by the absence of waste segregation at the source, non-operational wastewater treatment facilities, and the lack of dedicated facilities for hazardous waste handling. In addition, stakeholder awareness and community participation in waste management remain limited. This study concludes that operational waste management at Belawan Ocean Fishing Port has not been fully integrated into fishing port governance. Strengthening infrastructure, institutional capacity, and participatory approaches is therefore essential to support sustainable fisheries management in the port area.
