Abstract

This research aims to analyze the application of the inquiry method in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SDN 011 Sangatta Utara, East Kutai Regency. This research uses a qualitative approach with case study-type data collection techniques through observation, interviews and documentation. The research focuses on students in grades IV and V, consisting of 30-35 students per class. The results of the study show that the application of the inquiry method at SDN 011 Sangatta Utara has started to run well, where the teacher acts as a facilitator in guiding students through the stages of inquiry such as asking stimulating questions, conducting investigations, and repeating the results. Students actively participate in the learning process, especially in group discussions and presentations. However, some students still have difficulty understanding abstract concepts and need more intensive guidance from the teacher. The main obstacles found in implementing the inquiry method include time constraints, varying student abilities, and limitations in supporting facilities such as internet access. However, the inquiry method has been proven to have a positive impact on increasing students' understanding of PAI concepts and critical thinking skills. This research suggests the need for improved facilities and additional guidance for students who need it so that the application of inquiry methods can be more optimal.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of faith (‘aqidah), ethics (akhlaq), and Sufism (tasawwuf) as the foundational elements in cultivating comprehensive religious awareness among Muslims. Employing a qualitative methodology through a literature review, the research delves into the historical, philosophical, and conceptual interplay of these three dimensions and underscores their collective significance in addressing the challenges posed by modernity, secularism, and moral relativism. While ‘aqidah establishes the core beliefs of a Muslim, akhlaq guides social and interpersonal conduct, and tasawwuf nurtures the spiritual depth and inner purification. Historically, the compartmentalization or neglect of one or more of these aspects has resulted in an imbalanced understanding and practice of Islam, often diminishing its transformative potential. This paper argues that a holistic integration of these three pillars is essential for developing a well-rounded Muslim identity—one that is intellectually grounded, ethically responsible, and spiritually conscious. Furthermore, integrative character education rooted in Islamic teachings is presented as a strategic and sustainable model for nurturing rational, moral, and spiritually aware individuals in contemporary contexts. The findings highlight the need to revisit classical Islamic educational frameworks and adapt them to current realities to ensure a meaningful and resilient religious life.

Abstract

The digital era has fundamentally changed how teenagers interact and form their character. This research aims to analyze the relevance of Prophet Muhammad's exemplary character as a positive character reference for teenagers in the virtual era. Using qualitative research methods with a library research approach, this study examines various literature related to Prophet Muhammad's exemplary character, Islamic character education, and challenges faced by teenagers in the digital era. The research results show that the four main characteristics of Prophet Muhammad, namely siddiq, amanah, tabligh, and fathonah, have very significant relevance in the digital context. The siddiq trait provides a foundation for healthy digital literacy, amanah teaches responsibility in technology use, tabligh provides guidance for positive communication, and fathonah encourages wise use of technology. The main challenges faced by teenagers include digital identity crisis, online social pressure, technology addiction, and excessive information exposure. The implementation model developed includes a character education framework based on exemplary behavior, mentoring programs with a sunnah approach, and integration of Islamic values in digital literacy curriculum. Practical implementation is carried out through developing Islamic netiquette, information verification techniques based on tabayyun principles, and forming positive communities on digital platforms. This research contributes to the development of character education strategies that are appropriate to the challenges of the digital era.
