Abstract

Introduction: Knowledge and skills of simple first aid are packaged by the UKS program through the role of Dokter Kecil. Interactive learning using video, demonstration and simulation activities has increased first aid knowledge and skills in primary school students. The aim of this community service program was to increase first aid knowledge and skills of wound care, nosebleed and syncope in school age children. Methods: The community service was conducted at SDN Komplek Kenjeran II in Surabaya, Indonesia, involving 40 students from grades 3 to 5. The intervention was provided in a 4-hour session, using video demonstrations and hands-on simulation. Pre-test and post-test questionnaires measured students' knowledge and attitudes before and after the training. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The demographic characteristics of participants were dominated by the age 10 years (37.5%), in fourth grade (42.5%) and female (62.5%). The average pre-test knowledge score was 65 and pre-test attitude score was 76.4. After doing interactive learning, demonstrations and simulations, the average student post-test score experienced a significant increase, namely 84.5 in the knowledge and 89.7 in the attitude. Conclusion: The Dokter Kecil program significantly improved students’ skills and knowledge in managing wound care, nosebleeds, and syncope. This empowerment program demonstrates the effectiveness of interactive learning in fostering critical first aid skills in school-aged children. Regular updates to the training content are recommended to ensure ongoing relevance and efficacy.

Abstract

Sebagian besar responden berusia 43 tahun (23,5%), sebagian besar jenis kelamin responden berjenis kelamin perempuan (94,1%). Sebagian besar responden berpendidikan SMA/sederajat (47,1%). Rata-rata skor pengetahuan pre-test sebesar 79,41 dan skor rerata post-test sebesar 93,53. Nilai p uji Wilcoxon sebesar 0,002. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are one of the causes of death in Indonesia and in the world. This research aimed to increase public knowledge through balanced nutrition education for NCDs with the SDGiS program. The program used an educational approach through the SDGis (Healthy with Balanced Nutrition) program. This program involved 10 caregivers of patients with NCDs and 7 Kader Surabaya Hebat RW 03 Klampis Ngasem Village. This program was implemented from April 22 to June 7 2024 in RW 03, Klampis Ngasem Village, Surabaya. The output of this program was the formation of Bu SaSi (Buku Saku Nutrisi), which is prepared based on evidence-based practice. Most respondents were 43 years old (23.5%), the majority of respondents' gender was female (94.1)). Most of the respondents had high school/equivalent education (47.1%). The average pre-test knowledge score was 79.41 and the post-test mean score was 93.53. The p-value of the Wilcoxon test was 0.002. This shows that there is a statistically significant difference between the level of knowledge before and after the intervention. After the program was implemented, the community's knowledge, attitudes, and skills increased significantly. The nutrition pocketbook can be used as a guideline by sufferers of non-communicable diseases, families, and health workers in preparing daily food menus, especially for sufferers of hypertension, stroke and diabetes mellitus.
