Abstract

STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) training at SDN 1 Perampuan, West Lombok, aims to improve the creativity, innovation and critical thinking skills of grade 4 students. Through an interactive and practical approach, this training involves students in experiments simple and collaborative projects, allowing them to integrate various disciplines. This activity will be carried out in September 2024 using observation, experimentation, collaborative projects and feedback-based evaluation methods. Initial observations are carried out to identify learning needs and challenges, followed by preparation of materials and tools. The training involved an introduction to basic STEAM concepts, simple experiments such as building a mini volcano, technology development through basic coding, and the integration of art and mathematics in bridge design. Each session features a collaborative project, where students work in groups to apply the knowledge they have gained. Evaluation is carried out through project presentations and providing feedback to improve and enhance student skills. The results of the training showed high student enthusiasm, as well as increased understanding of basic STEAM concepts. Final project evaluations provide constructive feedback, encouraging students to continue learning and applying STEAM concepts in everyday life. With the support of the STEAM guidebook, this training is expected to have a long-term impact on educational development in the West Lombok area, preparing students to face future challenges with the necessary 21st century skills.

Abstract

This research investigates the use of Google Neural Matching Translation (GNMT) in translating multilingual signboards in Mataram City into multiple languages. In this paper, the accuracy, readability, and quality of GNMT translations are evaluated to observe their appropriateness in selected well-turned communication environments. Following previous studies, the current study will investigate accuracy, readability, and quality of GNMT translators outputs on translating multilingual signboards in Mataram city compared to its sets produced by human translators. Field work was carried out between June 9 and July 4, 2025 on Jl. Majapahit, Mataram City, West Nusa Tenggara. The population was all multilingual public signboards in Mataram City, while the sample was those along Jl. Majapahit in Mataram. A total of 209 signs (both monolingual and multilingual) were purposively sampled for accuracy, readability and the quality. The results of the study revealed that GNMT achieved a mean score of 4.37 in terms of accuracy and intelligibility as compared to human’s score 5.0. It is good in translating transparent structured texts but does not well with translation cultural idiomatic expressions, where human post editing for adding context make it consistent and informative. On the whole, GNMT delivers 100% OCR success in multilingual signboard translation; it overcomes on clear language but fails to deal with idiomatic expressions and culturally sensitive ones such as name of foods which are indicative that humans are the most suitable part to handle context dependent or culture specific issues.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Abad 21 dan Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar menuntut guru dan siswa untuk memiliki literasi teknologi digital yang memadai (media and technology literacy), kesadaran kontekstual terhadap isu-isu di lingkungan mereka (environmental awareness), serta kemampuan untuk tetap relevan dan adaptif terhadap perkembangan zaman (flexible and adaptive to the changing world) dalam rangka mencetak individu yang cerdas secara akademis, terampil secara lingua franca, dan mampu memberikan solusi terhadap permasalahan yang ada di masyarakat. Kegiatan PKM ini merupakan lanjutan dari PKM sebelumnya yang bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan ketrampilan serta literasi digital guru-guru madrasah yang ada di wilayah kecamatan Gunungsari Lombok Barat dalam menggunakan teknologi aplikasi latihan dan asesmen berbasis digital unsur kebahasaan writing (menulis). Dengan adanya refleksi dan inovasi berbasis pengalaman, PKM ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efektivitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis teknologi serta mendorong guru dan siswa untuk lebih adaptif dalam menghadapi tantangan pendidikan di era digital. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga berkontribusi dalam pengembangan IPTEKS (Ilmu Pengetahuan, Teknologi, dan Seni) dengan mengintegrasikan teknologi digital interaktif sebagai solusi inovatif dalam pembelajaran kebahasaan yang lebih efektif, menarik, dan sesuai dengan perkembangan zaman. Rencana luaran PKM ini antara lain publikasi pada jurnal terakreditasi SINTA 4, Publikasi pada media sosial Youtube atau Web Prodi, dan peningkatan pemahaman dan ketrampilan mitra.
