One way to promote local wisdom values is to integrate them into learning in schools, particularly in Lombok where there are some valuable local wisdom which could be integrated into English textbooks. This research aims to integrate Lombok's local wisdom values into English language teaching, particularly for junior high school level to strengthen students' character and identity to face future challenges. This research employed a Research and Development approach to produce local wisdom-based textbooks with a total population and sample of 72 students who are divided into 12 groups based on the units in each textbook which are developed. Meanwhile, the practicality of the teaching materials was assessed by 2 lecturers who taught the Textbook and Material Development course, while the object of this research was the English teaching materials for junior high school level that would be developed. So far, there has never been any action to develop materials by integrating local wisdom in the form of folk tales, especially on the island of Lombok, into reading material in textbooks. This research reveals that some important characteristics obtained from Lombok's local wisdom values that can be integrated into English language learning, they are religious, tolerant and egalitarian. Religious character becomes the foundation of other characters. These different characters can be integrated into the teaching and learning process. In the teaching process, teachers adjust teaching steps by instilling religiosity, tolerant and egalitarian values, while, materials are equipped with a teacher's book which provides direction to teachers, especially regarding the interpretation of local wisdom values so that they comply with competency standards and basic competencies in the curriculum which is currently being implemented in Indonesia. The primary objective of this paper is to assert the contribution of qualitative research in ELT. This paper has presented qualitative theories and features advantages and limitations, the criteria of good qualitative research, and analysis of two articles based on Tracy‟s model. The analysis result showed that both articles have some limitations such as the uncovering of potential resources and perspectives on how effective extensive reading programs should be implemented in tertiary education in Indonesia. However, most of the criteria that Tracy established were found in these articles, such as relevance of the area of study, timeliness and significance; sufficient, abundant, appropriate and complex use of theoretical constructs, as well as data collection and analysis processes.

This study aim to analyze the ability of grade XI students at SMAN 1 Masbagik in reading narrative text. It is descriptive qualitative design. The participants in this study were 19 students from class XI-F7. The data were collected using a reading test and a questionnaire. The data obtained from the reading test were analyzed and calculated to determine the final score and identify the most difficult aspects of reading. Meanwhile, the data from the questionnaire were analyzed by reducing the data, displaying, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that out of 19 students, only three students scored in the very high category, six students scored high, three students scored medium, four students scored low, and three students scored very low. In addition, making inferences emerged as the most challenging reading aspect. Through an analysis of questionnaire responses, two prominent obstacles were identified: limited vocabulary knowledge and cognitive load. Many students faced difficulties in deciphering individual word meanings, thereby impeding their overall comprehension of texts. This study highlights the imperative for targeted strategies aimed at addressing these challenges to improve reading proficiency and academic achievement among students.

Literasi kiritis merupakan kebutuhan dasar dalam kehidupan akademik dan interaksi sosial pada era globalisasi informasi dan komunikasi dewasa ini. Melalui aktivitas literasi kiritis dengan bahan ajar yang di sekitar peserta didik, bapak/ibu guru dapat merancang pengalaman belajar (learning experiences) yang interaktif lintas mata pelajaran. Sebagai salah satu kata kunci dari rumusan tujuan Pendidikan Nasional, kritis dan kreatif dapat diwujudkan melalui lintas mata pelajaran, termasuk dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Dengan melibatkan mahasiswa yang tergabung dalam English Speaking Club, guru mata pelajaran Bahasa Inggris, guru pembina asrama santri, dan beberapa orang santri, kesempatan belajar (learning opportunity) yang lebih luas dapat diciptakan untuk memfasilitasi kesuksesan pemerolehan bahasa Inggris seiring dengan perkembangan literasi santri di MTs Mu’allimat NWDI Pancor. Pendekatan pengabdian ini dilaksanakan melalui workshop. Kegiatan workshop ini diselenggarakan secara bauran (blended) minimal 32 jam. Target luaran wajib pengabdian ini adalah artikel yang dipublikasikan pada jurnal nasional (accepted), publikasi di sosial media. Adapun luaran tambahan, yakni naskah program dan surat pernyataan pemaanfaatan produk oleh pihak pengelaola asrama santriwati MTs Mu’allimat NWDI Pancor dalam hal pengembangan budaya asrama dalam percepatan literasi kritis sebagai kegiatan santri di luar jam sekolah.

Community empowerment through the use of local resources, especially in Sigerongan Village, is one of the efforts to improve the welfare of economists in the village. One potential that can be developed is making shredded tilapia fish as a processed product with high selling value. This outreach activity aims to provide knowledge and skills to the community regarding the process of making tilapia floss as a potential business opportunity. The methods used in this activity include counseling, training in making shredded meat, and interactive discussions with participants. The results of this activity show that the community has high enthusiasm in learning techniques for processing tilapia into shredded fish. Apart from that, the use of tilapia as raw material for floss can increase the added value of fishery products and open up new business opportunities for local communities. With this outreach, it is hoped that the community can develop independent fisheries-based businesses and improve economic welfare through diversification of processed tilapia fish products.

ABSTRAK Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan guru tentang konsep Linguistic Landscape (LL) dan menyusun langkah-langkah kegiatan belajar berbasis LL. Salah satu contoh materi LL yang dapat digunakan sebagai tema dalam aktivitas writing dan speaking di kelas EFL adalah foto-foto papan peringatan bertema â€œBahaya Narkobaâ€, â€œLarangan Membuang Sampahâ€, â€œLarangan Merokokâ€, dan lain sebagainya. Tema-tema papan peringatan tersebut dapat disusun menjadi materi ajar yang tidak hanya menarik tetapi juga relevan dan kontekstual dengan kondisi lingkungan peserta didik. Materi ajar berbasis LL yang baik merangsang kemampuan berpikir kritis, kreatif, kolaboratif, dan komunikatif yang sangat dibutuhkan siswa dalam pembelajaran abad 21 ini. Sebanyak 25 orang guru mata pelajaran di Pondok Pesantren Raudlatusshibyan NW Belencong Gunungsari dan 4 orang mahasiswa terlibat dalam kegiatan ini. Metode kegiatan ini menggunakan sosialisasi dan diskusi kelompok dengan pendekatan â€˜get-in and take-outâ€™ melalui 3 tahap kegiatan: Tahap pertama, sosialisasi tentang konsep, signifikansi, hasil penelitian, dan contoh-contoh kegiatan yang mengintegrasikan LL dalam pembelajaran EFL. Tahap kedua, melaksanakan diskusi kelompok untuk menentukan langkah-langkah kegiatan belajar berbasis LL. Tahap terakhir, melaksanakan evaluasi kegiatan baik pra-kegiatan, selama kegiatan, dan pasca-kegiatan dengan mengambil data hasil pengisian kuesioner yang telah diisi peserta. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa pengetahuan guru tentang konsep LL dan cara menyusun langkah-langkah kegiatan belajar berbasis LL meningkat. Para peserta sangat mengapresiasi kegiatan ini dan berharap kegiatan pengembangan profesional semacam ini lebih sering diadakan di madrasah-madrasah. Adapun saran dari para peserta untuk ke depannya adalah perlunya ada tindaklanjut dari kegitana ini, perlunya menambahkan game atau permainan di sela-sela kegiatan agar semakin menyenangkan, perlunya tema lain yang lebih beragam seperti penerapan LL dalam literasi digital yang lebih kompleks. ABSTRACT This Community Service program aims to increase teachersâ€™ knowledge about the concept of Linguistic Landscape (LL) as well as develop competency in designing a scenario for LL-based learning activities. One example of LL material that can be used as a theme in writing and speaking activities in the EFL class is pictures of warning boards themed â€œthe Danger of Drugsâ€, â€œProhibition of Litteringâ€, â€œthe Danger of Smoking Cigarettesâ€, and so on. The warning board themes can be arranged into teaching materials that are not only interesting but also relevant and contextual to the studentsâ€™ environmental conditions. Fine LL-based teaching materials stimulate studentsâ€™ critical thinking, creative thinking, collaborative, and communicative skills that the students need to master in the 21st century learning. As many as 25 subject teachers at Raudlatusshibyan NW Islamic Junior High School in Belencong Gunungsari and 4 students of the English Education Program were involved in this program. A 3-phase method of socialization and group discussions with a 'get-in and take-out' approach was used. The first phase was presenting concepts, significance, results of study, and examples of activities that integrate LL in EFL learning situation. The second stage was group discussion to determine the draft scenario for LL-based learning activities. The last stage was evaluation of the pre-activities, while-activities, and post-activities based on the data obtained from in-process evaluation and the questionnaire. The results of the evaluation shows that the participantsâ€™ knowledge about the concept of Linguistic Landscape and how to design a draft scenario for LL-based learning activities increases. The participants gave much appreciation to the team for organizing this program and hoped that such professional developments would be held more often in the madrasah. Some suggestions from participants to the team for future programs are: must plan for a follow-up program in relation to todayâ€™s topic, needs to add games between session break to make it more fun, should plan to set other professional development themes such as the application of LL in more complex digital literacy.

ABSTRAK Kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (Abdimas) ini merupakan seri lanjutan dari kegiatan Abdimas sebelumnya pada 2021 dan 2022 yang lalu (Putera et al., 2021; Putera et al., 2022). Sedikit berbeda namun berkaitan dengan tema tahun sebelumnya, kegiatan Abdimas tahun ini mengangkat tema penyusnan bahan ajar Bahasa Inggris otentik berbasis Linguistic Landscape yang mengintegarsikan media digital/online dalam rancangan tugas siswa. Sebagai sebuah pendekatan baru dalam studi kemultibahasaan dan pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, LL mendorong untuk lebih banyak menggunakan materi-materi, dan tema-tema pembelajaran otentik yang ada di sekeliling siswa baik yang berasal dari sumber non-digital maupun digital. Penggunaan materi dan tema-tema otentik akan menghasilkan pembelajaran yang kontekstual, relevan dengan situasi dan kondisi siswa, dan lebih bermakna sebab siswa memahami isu-isu otentik yang ada di sekitarnya (seperti masalah sampah, bahaya merokok, dll) lebih dibandingkan dengan isu-isu non-otentik yang tidak pernah/belum pernah mereka lihat dan alami selama hidupnya. Berlimpahnya bahan-bahan digital (digital landscape) bisa dimanfaatkan menjadi bahan ajar pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang efektif, murah, dan mudah didapat. Pelatihan ini diharapkan akan dapat mengatasi beberapa permasalahan yang dihadapi guru-guru madrasah seperti kurangnya kreatifitas dalam menyusun bahan ajar otentik berbasis LL yang terintegrasi dengan media digital, dan kurangnya kreatifitas guru dalam menyusun bahan ajar berbasis LL mengintegrasikan literasi digital, dan kurangnya literasi digital siswa yang ada di madrasah di Lombok Barat disebabkan oleh minimnya bentuk penugasan/projek yang memanfaatkan media digital untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa siswa dan efektifitas pembelajaran bahasa Inggris. Berkesesuaian dengan persoalan di atas, kegiatan pelatihan penyusunan bahan ajar berbasis LL mengintegrasikan literasi digital/online dalam rancangan tugas/projek siswa menjadi amat penting mengingat pembelajaran abad 21 dan kurikulum Merdeka Belajar saat ini mewajibkan para guru dan siswa untuk cakap (literate) dalam menggunakan teknologi digital, sadar/melek (aware), dan update dengan permasalahan yang terjadi di lingkungannya sehingga mereka tidak hanya cakap dalam menggunakan bahasa (asing) namun juga dapat memberikan solusi bagi perbaikan masyarakat dan lingkungannya. Kegiatan Abdimas ini dilaksanakan di MTs Raudlatusshibyan NW Belencong Kec. Gunung Sari Kab. Lombok Barat dengan khalayak sasaran guru-guru Bahasa Inggris madrasah. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan tingkat keberhasilan yang tinggi yang terlihat dari hasil kuesioner yang berisi pertanyaan tentang pemahaman terhadap materi, cara penyampaian materi, dan kesulitan yang dihadapi dalam mengintegrasikan LL dengan media literasi digital yang sesuai. ABSTRACT This Community Service Program is a continuation of the previous program held in 2021 and 2022 (Putera et al., 2021; Putera et al., 2022). Slightly different but related to the previous ones, this year's theme focused on creating the draft of authentic English teaching materials based on Linguistic Landscape that integrates digital/online media both in the learning activities and assignments. As a new approach in multilingualism and English language learning, Linguistic Landscape encourages the use of authentic materials and learning themes that are present in students' surroundings, whether from non-digital or digital sources. The use of authentic materials and themes results in contextual, relevant learning experiences for students, as they understand authentic issues in their environment (such as waste problems, smoking hazards, etc.) more than non-authentic issues they may have never seen or experienced in their lives. The abundance of digital resources (digital landscape) can be leveraged to create effective, affordable, and easily accessible English language teaching materials. It is expected that this program addressed several challenges faced by madrasah teachers, such as a lack of creativity in developing authentic LL-based teaching materials integrated with digital media, a lack of creativity in developing LL-based teaching materials that integrate digital literacy, and a lack of digital literacy among madrasah students in West Lombok due to the scarcity of assignments/projects that utilize digital media to enhance students' language skills and the effectiveness of English language learning. In line with the aforementioned issues, the training activity for developing LL-based teaching materials integrating digital/online literacy into student assignments/projects becomes crucial, considering that 21st-century learning and the current independent learning or Merdeka Belajar curriculum require teachers and students to be proficient in using digital technology, aware of current issues in their environment, and updated so that they are not only proficient in using a foreign language but also capable of providing solutions for the improvement of society and their environment. This program was conducted at MTs Raudlatusshibyan NW Belencong, Gunung Sari Subdistrict, West Lombok Regency, with the target audience being madrasah teachers that teach English subject at schools. The results of this program show a high level of success, as seen from the questionnaire results regarding understanding of the material, delivery of the material, and challenges in integrating Linguistic Landscape with suitable digital literacy media.
