Abstract

Geography skills are abilities that need to be mastered, because they are useful in understanding the relationship between humans and the environment and can train students to think systematically in dealing with environmental and social issues. The advantage of the inquiry learning model lies in its ability to stimulate students to think critically in analyzing phenomena while honing observation and data interpretation skills. This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry learning model on geography skills of grade X students of SMA Panjura Malang. This research applied pseudo-experimental method. The subjects were taken using random sampling technique with X2 class as the experimental class and X4 class as the control class. Data was collected using Post-Test Only Control Group Design. The results revealed that the average Post-Test of geography skills of experimental class students with guided inquiry treatment was higher (88.83) compared to the control class (71.33). The results of hypothesis testing using the Mann-Whitney U-Test method show the results of Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 <0.05, which indicates a significant difference in the Post Test scores of the two classes. Thus the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, so it can be concluded that the application of guided inquiry model has a significant effect on the mastery of geography skills. This study also found that the investigation stage is the most dominant stage affecting geography skills.

Abstract

The Geotpack (Geography Technology, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge) Improvement Training for geography teachers in Situbondo Regency based on 3D Map Excel aims to overcome obstacles in the use of technology in geography learning. This training consists of three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation and reflection. In the preparation stage, researchers identified the problem of low optimisation of technology use that hampers teachers' ability to teach spatial thinking concepts. The training then focused on the use of 3D Map Excel to visualize geographic data in three-dimensional form. During the training, participants were introduced to the TPACK concept that integrates technology, pedagogy and knowledge content. The practice of creating 3D maps was conducted using data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), with intensive mentoring to ensure the success of each participant. The evaluation results showed that all participants successfully applied the 3D map-making technique and planned to apply it in the classroom learning process. The implementation of 3D Map Excel technology is expected to increase the effectiveness of geography learning, create a more interactive and interesting atmosphere, and increase students' interest in learning. This training confirms the importance of improving teachers' competence in utilizing technology to create an innovative and effective learning environment.

Abstract

The development of virtual technology encourages the innovation of learning media that is more interactive and contextual. The limitation of existing learning media in integrating spatial aspects creates an opportunity to develop media that meets learning needs. The objective of this research is to develop virtual learning media integrated with Spatial Data Science to enhance the geocapability of students in the Social Sciences Teacher Professional Program (PPG IPS). The development was carried out by utilizing Microsoft Power BI as a virtual dashboard development application capable of visualizing spatial data. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Data were collected through three main types of instruments: validation sheets, a closed user trial questionnaire, and a user response questionnaire. Validation sheets were addressed to material, language, and media experts to obtain feasibility scores, comments, and suggestions for product improvement before the trial. The user trial questionnaire consisted of a closed multiple-choice questionnaire using a Likert scale and a user response questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis techniques. Quantitative data, which contained feasibility scores, were presented in tables, while qualitative data were presented through descriptive narratives. The research findings indicate that the developed learning media obtained an "excellent" feasibility score from both experts and users. Direct classroom implementation has not yet been carried out, so its effectiveness cannot be measured. Further research is recommended to test the media's implementation in a real learning situation to obtain a more comprehensive picture of its impact on improving the geocapability of PPG IPS students.
