Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to improve the spatial thinking skills of high school students through the utilisation of 3D Map Excel feature in geography learning based on Project-Based Learning (PjBL). The background of this research comes from the low spatial skills of students due to the dominance of conventional methods in learning and the lack of utilisation of geospatial technology. This causes students to have limitations in understanding spatial concepts contextually. This study used the Classroom Action Research (PTK) method with the PjBL model which was carried out in two cycles on students of class X-6 SMA Negeri 1 Gondanglegi. The instruments used include pre-test, post-test, observation and documentation. The results showed a significant increase in students' spatial thinking ability, where in the second cycle as many as 91.18% of students reached the high category and all students exceeded the Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM). Excel's 3D Map feature proved effective in strengthening students' understanding of spatial concepts, visual representation tools, and geographic data analysis skills. The three-dimensional visualisation made it easier for students to understand spatial distribution and inter-regional relationships. This finding shows that simple and accessible technology such as 3D Map Excel can be an innovative solution in geography learning and support technology-based learning in 21st century learning.

Abstract

The Geotpack (Geography Technology, Pedagogical, and Content Knowledge) Improvement Training for geography teachers in Situbondo Regency based on 3D Map Excel aims to overcome obstacles in the use of technology in geography learning. This training consists of three main stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation and reflection. In the preparation stage, researchers identified the problem of low optimisation of technology use that hampers teachers' ability to teach spatial thinking concepts. The training then focused on the use of 3D Map Excel to visualize geographic data in three-dimensional form. During the training, participants were introduced to the TPACK concept that integrates technology, pedagogy and knowledge content. The practice of creating 3D maps was conducted using data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), with intensive mentoring to ensure the success of each participant. The evaluation results showed that all participants successfully applied the 3D map-making technique and planned to apply it in the classroom learning process. The implementation of 3D Map Excel technology is expected to increase the effectiveness of geography learning, create a more interactive and interesting atmosphere, and increase students' interest in learning. This training confirms the importance of improving teachers' competence in utilizing technology to create an innovative and effective learning environment.
