Abstract

This study aims to examine various problems faced by Islamic education in the modern era, especially related to the challenges arising from globalization, technological developments, and value conflicts. In addition, this study also seeks to identify strategic steps that can be taken to overcome these problems. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach to analyze the problems faced by Islamic education today. Data were collected through literature studies and document analysis from various official sources. The results of the study are that the problems of Islamic education in the modern era are very diverse, ranging from challenges due to globalization, technological developments, to value conflicts that occur between tradition and modernity. To face these challenges, strategic steps are needed, including improving the quality of the curriculum and teaching, providing more equitable access to education, and using technology wisely to support the learning process. In addition, collaboration between the government, educational institutions, religious figures, and the wider community is key to creating Islamic education that is relevant to the needs of the times but still adheres to the core values of Islam.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the level of student interest and the influencing internal and external factors in participating in sports extracurricular activities at Madrasah Aliyah in Montong Gamang Village. The research was motivated by the low student participation observed in extracurricular sports, both in terms of attendance and active engagement. A descriptive quantitative approach was employed using a survey method. A total of 90 students were selected from a population of 450 through proportional random sampling. The data collection instrument was a four-point Likert scale questionnaire comprising two main dimensions: internal factors (interest, attention, and activity) and external factors (environment and parental support). The results showed that the average student interest score was 98.71 with a standard deviation of 8.53, with most students categorized as having low (42.2%) or high (41.1%) levels of interest. The mean score for internal factors was 63.12 (SD = 7.42), and for external factors, 35.21 (SD = 6.34). These findings indicate the need for improvement through strategies that enhance intrinsic motivation, foster supportive learning environments, and increase parental involvement. This study provides a novel contribution to the development of sports extracurricular programs in rural-based madrasah settings, which have been underrepresented in the physical education literature.

Abstract

Traditional games are recognized not only for their cultural and recreational value but also for their potential to stimulate physical and cognitive development in early childhood. This study aims to analyze the effect of two Indonesian traditional games, jump rope and hopscotch, on the gross motor development of children aged 5–6 years. The research used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest two-group model involving 20 children from RA Ittihadul Khairi, divided equally into jump rope and hopscotch groups. The intervention lasted four weeks, conducted three times per week for 20 minutes per session. The data were collected using a validated observation sheet referring to the indicators of balance, coordination, agility, strength, and movement accuracy from the Early Childhood Development Standards (Permendikbud No.137/2014). The reliability test using Cronbach’s Alpha showed a high level of consistency (α = 0.87). Data were analyzed using paired and independent sample t-tests after testing normality and homogeneity. The results revealed that both games significantly improved children’s gross motor skills (p < 0.05), with no significant difference between groups (p = 0.818). In conclusion, jump rope and hopscotch are equally effective in enhancing gross motor development in early childhood and are recommended as culturally relevant physical activities in PAUD programs.
