Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has reached various regions in Indonesia, including Sumberjaya Village, where internet access—particularly through smartphones—is widely available. While digital media offers numerous benefits, it also presents potential risks. Therefore, understanding appropriate usage guidelines, communication ethics, and information filtering is essential to minimize negative impacts. This community outreach program employed a participatory group method consisting of four main stages: observation, presentation, focus group discussion (FGD), and evaluation. The results of the program indicate that participants have significantly improved their digital literacy across three core dimensions: technological proficiency, cognitive awareness, and ethical behavior. These enhancements are expected to contribute positively to the community’s overall quality of life and resilience in navigating digital environments.

Abstract

PT ABC is a wheat flour production company in Indonesia. Many sophisticated machines are used in the wheat flour production process, one of which is the roll mill machine. In its operation, the roll mill machine uses bearings to support the roll when it rotates and reduce friction that occurs so that the roll can rotate smoothly and avoid wear. If the bearing does not function properly, it can damage the machine and other components. Therefore, to predict damage to the bearing, it is necessary to analyze how long the bearing lifetime is. In the implementation of this Practical Work, research will be conducted to determine the lifetime and types of damage that occur to the bearings used so that solutions can be found to prevent damage to the machine and other components. Based on the results of calculations in this study, the life of the spherical roller bearing in the roll mill machine using the basic rating life method shows that the bearing life obtained is 36,696,343 operational hours, while the time required to re-lubricate the spherical roller bearing is every 9800 hours with the amount of lubricant given is 17.6 grams.

Abstract

One of the important components in the power generation process at the Suralaya PGU PLTU is the Gate Valve. The MOV 30 Gate Valve is a valve that functions to regulate the flow of steam gas from the extraction steam to the blow down tank. Preventive maintenance on the MOV 30 Gate Valve unit 7 aims to prevent unwanted damage, reduce the risk of failure, and ensure that the device operates with maximum efficiency. With proper preventive maintenance, PT Indonesia Power hopes to avoid disruptions in power generation operations, minimize downtime, and extend the operational lifespan of the equipment. Damage to a gate valve can be caused by several factors, including excessive pressure in the valve flow, high temperatures passing through the valve, and friction forces when opening and closing the valve.

Abstract

Roof tiles play a vital role in the construction industry by providing protection from the sun's heat and rain. The quality of roof tiles largely depends on the materials used and the manufacturing process, as these factors significantly affect the tiles' mechanical properties. Kangkung pagar (Ipomoea carnea) is one type of alternative natural fiber material that can be utilized in the creation of composite materials. This study aims to explore the potential of Ipomoea carnea powder as an alternative material for producing polymer roof tiles, as well as to examine how variations in the composition of powder and sand influence the mechanical properties of these tiles. The method for producing roof tiles is based on powder metallurgy. The composition of the powder and sand used varies in the following ratios: 10% powder to 50% sand, 20% powder to 40% sand, and 30% powder to 30% sand. Additionally, a fixed composition of 30% polyester resin and 10% asphalt is used. The initial process involves mixing the materials according to these predetermined ratios. The resulting mixture is then molded and compacted under a pressure of 200 kg/cm². Characterization of the mechanical properties includes proximate analysis, calculation of porosity and density, flexural strength testing, and hardness testing. The study's results indicated that the properties of polymer roof tiles are significantly influenced by the composition of the powder and sand used during their manufacture. The findings revealed a porosity value of 0.209%, a density of 0.994%, a flexural strength of 2.270 MPa, and an optimum hardness of 19.1 BHN. The addition of 10% powder increased the hardness value by only 0.4% while decreasing the flexural strength by 0.5%. Overall, the use of Ipomoea Carnea powder was not effective in enhancing the mechanical properties of the polymer roof tiles, as both the flexural strength and hardness values remained below those of commercially available polymer roof tiles.
