Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the phenomenon of the Kelakat tradition, which is still controversial because some parties prohibit it because it is contrary to Sharia and has implications for shirk. Kelakat is a tradition in marriage that is often carried out by the majority of the East Loloan village community. It is passed down from generation to generation and is believed to eliminate bad luck, and if the ritual is not carried out, it can cause problems for the bride and groom. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study approach in East Loloan village, the theory used with Maqasid Al-Shari’ah Jasser Auda. The result of this research is that the Kelakat tradition has become a habit that has been attached to the East Loloan community to make it survive amid Muslim communities in East Loloan village and does not conflict with Sharia law because there has been a revolution in its implementation so that it is under the objectives of Sharia.

Abstract

This article examines the political strategies of Prophet Yusuf as recorded in the Qur'an, focusing on leadership and conflict resolution, as well as their relevance to the phenomenon of dynastic politics in Indonesia. Although Muslims regard the Qur'an as a guide, their understanding of its political aspects remains limited. The story of Prophet Yusuf in Surah Yusuf offers valuable lessons on political strategies based on ethics and wisdom. This study employs a library research approach with a thematic tafsir method, analyzing various exegetical perspectives on the verses describing Yusuf's political strategies. The findings reveal that Yusuf implemented several political strategies relevant to the context of dynastic politics, namely: first, the politics of reciprocal obligation, where he repaid ill treatment with kindness to build long-term influence. Second, the politics of desire, by creating dependency so that others would follow his will. Third, the politics of scenario, which involved strategically setting situations so that opponents would accept the prevailing rules. Fourth, the politics of control, in which Yusuf carefully managed the narrative and actions of his adversaries. Fifth, the politics of identity declaration, where he revealed his true identity at the right moment to maximize acceptance. Sixth, the politics of accommodation, which ultimately led his brothers to submit and join him in Egypt. Yusuf's political strategies reflect a form of leadership that prioritizes wisdom, strategic planning, and conflict management. In the context of dynastic politics in Indonesia, similar strategies can be observed in how political elites build influence, maintain power, and manage both support and opposition. Contribution: This study contributes to understanding how Qur'anic values can serve as a reference for contemporary political analysis.

Abstract

Purpose – This study examines the dynamics of al-Qur'an memorizing couples in Roudlatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School in Metro City in building a sakinah family. This study aims to fill the gap in the literature regarding the influence of the practice of memorizing the Qur'an on family relationships and daily life in the context of contemporary Islamic family law. This study argues that the spiritual practice of memorizing the Qur'an can be a significant strategy in improving family harmony and emotional well-being, making it relevant to be used as a reference in a strategic approach to building a sakinah family in the modern era. Methods – This research utilized a phenomenological study to gain in-depth insight into the informants' experiences. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with three couples who memorize the Qur'an and work as teachers at Roudlatul Qur'an Islamic Boarding School. The interviews were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify key themes and patterns relating to the impact of Qur'ānic memorization on contemporary family dynamics. Findings – This study reveals that the activity of memorizing the Qur'an contributes significantly to controlling emotions, creating inner calm, and increasing wisdom in family decision-making. Couples who engaged in this activity reported increased self-awareness as well as the ability to handle conflicts more calmly and wisely. These results support the view that listening to and memorizing the Qur'an not only reduces stress levels, but also promotes inner peace through mechanisms involving the release of natural endorphins and delta wave stimulation. These findings are relevant in the context of building a sakinah family in the environment of Pesantren Roudlatul Qur'an Metro City, particularly within the framework of contemporary Islamic family law. Research limitations – Some limitations of this study include the small sample size and focus on one particular location, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Further research with a larger sample and various locations is needed to strengthen the conclusions. Originality – This study makes an important contribution to the literature on the role of spirituality in contemporary family dynamics. The results of this study show that Qur'an memorization not only has an impact on spiritual aspects, but also on emotional and psychological aspects, thus providing a strong foundation for achieving a sakinah family. This research also opens up opportunities for further research on how religious practices can be used to improve the quality of family life.

Abstract

Abstract: Cash waqf has become an increasingly significant instrument in supporting social and economic development in Indonesia. Laznas Yakesma of the Riau Islands is among the institutions engaged in the collection and management of cash waqf. This study aims to analyze the governance of cash waqf at Laznas Yakesma Kepri by evaluating the gap between the fulfillment of sharia objectives and adherence to national positive law. The research specifically assesses the extent to which nāẓir practices correspond with the principles of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah, particularly ḥifẓ al-māl, and examines avenues for strengthening governance models to ensure alignment with the prevailing legal framework. A qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical design is utilized. Primary data were collected through observation and semi-structured interviews with nāẓir representatives, while secondary data were sourced from waqf regulations as well as academic literature. Findings indicate that Yakesma Kepri has maintained the integrity of the waqf’s principal value, developed funds productively via a catering business, and disbursed resulting benefits to beneficiaries. These practices are indicative of the application of ḥifẓ al-māl and the socio-economic objectives of Islamic law. Nonetheless, inconsistencies remain regarding positive legal requirements, notably the lack of official certificates from Islamic financial institutions, insufficient protection via Islamic insurance, and limited digital systems and reporting to BWI. This study recommends enhanced collaboration between nāẓir, Islamic financial institutions, and Islamic insurance companies, together with the development of digital systems for fundraising, reporting, and transparency in cash waqf management. An integrated governance model is anticipated to foster more modern, accountable, and sustainable cash waqf management.
