Abstract

The term “gadget” is used to refer to small electronic devices that serve a specific purpose. In Indonesian, gadgets are often referred to as “gawai”, a term that comes from English and encompasses a variety of devices designed to make human activities easier, such as tablets, smartphones and laptops. Novelty is the hallmark of gadgets, as this technology is constantly updated to meet the needs of users. Gadgets have many benefits, such as easy access to data and communication, but overuse can lead to various health problems.  Gadgets not only serve as communication tools, but they also have the potential to cause addiction that impacts physical and mental health. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of device use on students' health and desire to learn through a literature review. The research method used is an examination of literature from various sources related to the research topic. The results of the analysis show that device use has effects on students' health such as anxiety, stress, and device addiction. In addition, the use of electronic devices has an impact on learning motivation, such as decreased interest and concentration. To overcome these negative effects, a broader approach is needed, such as limiting the time spent using electronic devices, using innovative learning strategies, and improving student engagement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of character education through stories in improving students' honesty. The method used is a systematic literature review of various relevant literature with a main focus on the application of honesty values through story media, school programs, and other character learning approaches. The results of the study indicate that stories are an effective medium in conveying moral values, including honesty, because they are narrative, contextual, and easily accepted by children. The implementation of character education through stories can be done through various methods such as honesty canteens, cultural value-based learning, the Value Clarification Technique (VCT) method, and habituation through folklore or picture books. Supporting factors such as the role of teachers, family involvement, and the school environment greatly influence the success of forming students' honest character. However, challenges are also found in the consistency of implementation and the influence of the social environment. Therefore, synergy between stakeholders is needed in optimizing character education from an early age through a creative and enjoyable approach.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent to which students understand Arabic expressions frequently used on social media and how these media play a role in the learning process. In the digital era, social media such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok have become popular means for students to learn Arabic flexibly and interactively. This study uses a qualitative method with a literature study approach. Data were obtained from various secondary sources such as scientific journals and previous research results. The results of the study show that social media can increase motivation, enrich vocabulary, and strengthen students' language skills, especially in listening and speaking. However, there are also challenges such as distraction from entertainment content, dependence on technology, and limitations in contextual and cultural understanding. Therefore, a balanced learning strategy is needed between the use of social media, teacher assistance, and the development of critical digital literacy so that Arabic language learning remains contextual and meaningful. In conclusion, social media has great potential as an effective Arabic language learning medium if used wisely and in a targeted manner.
