Abstract

Insulin leaves (Smallanthus sonchifolius) are reported to have strong antioxidant activity. This activity comes from the content of secondary metabolite compounds such as phenolics, flavonoids, tannins, as well as anthocyanin and betacyanin pigments. To obtain the phytochemical content of a plant, an extraction process is carried out. The extraction method and solvent are factors that influence the amount of phytochemical content in the extract. There has been no research analyzing effective methods and solvents for extracting insulin leaves to obtain the highest antioxidant effect. This research was conducted to determine the effect of extraction methods and solvents on the antioxidant activity of insulin leaf extract. Maceration and digestion methods with distilled water, 50% ethanol and 96% ethanol were used in the extraction of insulin leaf simplicia in this study. Samples obtained were Aquadest Macerated Extract (EMA), 50% Ethanol Macerated Extract (EME50), 96% Ethanol Macerated Extract (EME96), Aquadest Digested Extract (EDA), 50% Ethanol Digested Extract (EDE50), and 96% Ethanol Digested Extract (EDE96). Testing the antioxidant activity of each sample used the DPPH method by calculating the IC50 value and using Quercetin as a positive control. Data analysis was carried out using one way anova analysis. The results show that the choice of solvent and extraction method influences the antioxidant activity of the extract. The IC50 values for each extract from low to high are: EDA, EDE50, EMA, EDE96, EME50, and EME96, with values: 20.06ppm; 22.44ppm; 23.77ppm; 23.84ppm; 24.55ppm; and 27.71ppm. It can be concluded that the method and solvent to obtain the best antioxidant activity from insulin leaves (Smallanthus sonchifolius) is extraction using the digestion method with distilled water as a solvent (p<0,05). Keywords:  antioxidant, digestion, insulin leaf, maceration, solvent

However, in practice, MSMEs often face obstacles in advancing and growing their businesses. One common challenge is in product promotion. This Community Service activity aims to provide knowledge and training to MSME actors in Polokarto village regarding digital marketing to help them promote their businesses more widely. This activity was conducted through counseling and training methods, which also facilitated discussions between the participants and the service team. Before the activity began, participants were given a pre-test to assess their initial knowledge of digital marketing. After the activity concluded, a post-test was administered to evaluate the increase in knowledge. Based on the pre-test and post-test results, there was an average score increase of 28.750. Additionally, based on data analysis, a p-value of < 0.05 was obtained. This indicates that the counseling and training had a significant impact on participants’ knowledge of digital marketing. With this digital marketing training and counseling, MSME actors can overcome promotional challenges, making their products more widely known and enabling them to survive in a competitive market.

Abstract

The Baluwarti community is a community that lives around the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace with consist of princes relatives, courtiers, and ordinary people. Baluwarti community to currently still carrying out traditional medicine traditions by utilizing medicinal plants as a treatment in Baluwarti village, gastritis is included in the category of 15 diseases frequent highs. This research is an ethnopharmaceutical research aimed at to find out the local name of the plant, the part used, the way of processing, the rules usage, and treatment methods used as an alternative treatment of gastritis carried out by the community around the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. This research is descriptive research that uses quantitative methods. The analysis parameters used are: Use Value (UV), Informant Consensus Factor (ICF), Fidelity Level (FL), and Plant Part Value (PPV). Sampling technique using snowball sampling through open ended interview with the community around the Surakarta Hadiningrat Palace. Based on results interviews with 17 informants found 13 types of medicinal plants used as alternatives treatment of gastritis includes African plants, neem plants, cassava genderuwo, white turmeric, temulawak, cassava, and ginger are processed by boiling. In addition, breadfruit pace and white duwet that can be eaten immediately. Turmeric by processing is ground and grated, as well as aloe vera that is taken mucus using a spoon. The result of the ICF value obtained disease gastritis with a value of 0.25. Plant species that have the highest UV value with a value 0.647 and the highest FL yield of 64.70% is turmeric (Curcuma longa L.) while the PPV value obtained the use of plant parts that are most often used as medicinal materials traditional is 30% rhizome, 18% leaf, 12% fruit, 12% tuber, and 6% mucus.

Abstract

Psidium guajava or guava have many potential value, including as antioxidant. Psidium guajava fruits have been reported that contain essential oil, flavonoid, polyphenol, ascorbic acid, dan tocopherol. This study aims to investigate weight gain and heamatological alteration as an effect from administration of red guava fruit extract in male wistar rats after carbon tetrachloride. This study was experimental design using male wistar rats as an experimental animals. The results of the study were red guava fruit aqueous extract can control weight gain in model animal, increasing of LYM, MCMC dan WBC. It indicated that Psidium guajava fruit is potentially be able to be used as an pharmaceutical product because of its antioxidant ability.
