Abstract

Pests in sugarcane plantations are a major cause of damage, which could lead to severe damage to the crop, reduction of sugar quality, and significant economic loss. One of the major pests known in sugarcane plantations is stem borer (Chilo sacchriphagus), which attacks the canes. Two primary parasitoids, Trichogramma chilonis, which predates the stem borer eggs, and the Jatiroto fly (Diatraeophaga striatalis), which predates the stem borer larvae, are discussed here. This paper presents a time-dependent ten-dimensional dynamical mathematical model consisting of four-stage stem borer compartments, three-stage Trichogramma compartments, and three-stage Jatiroto compartments. Simulations are presented to describe the phenomenon of Trichogramma predation, Jatiroto predation, and simultaneous predation of both predators. It is shown that the release rate of each predator and a combined release of two predators can significantly reduce the infestation levels to a tolerable level for sugarcane production. The oscillatory dynamics of the stem borers and the Jatiroto flies affected the release timing strategy based on the level of infestation in the field. The results are expected to help us better understand the predator-prey phenomenon in the field and improve the forecasting of infestations in the field.

Abstract

Based on their growth, tumors are classified into benign(compact) tumors and malignant (invasive) tumors. One of the treatments used for tumors is antiangiogenic therapy because this therapy has low toxicity. This study examines the effect of antiangiogenic therapy on compact tumors. The number of tumor cells changes over time are influenced by proliferation, death, and migration tumor cell. Antiangiogenic therapy can inhibit the process of angiogenesis which affect the dynamics of glucose flow. A lack of glucose flow will cause a decrease in tumor cell proliferation process which will decrease tumor growth rate. The finding suggests that maintaining glucose levels at or below a critical threshold is effective therapy.

Abstract

Background: Financial literacy is an essential skill for young people; however, national reports indicate that Indonesian adolescents' financial literacy remains low, particularly in managing their daily allowance and controlling expenditures. This program aims to enhance basic financial literacy by training in pocket money management and developing regular saving habits. Methods: The community service activity was conducted over two visits. The first visit focused on training students to save and manage their allowance, accompanied by the distribution of character-themed piggy banks and financial logbooks. During the second visit, the team conducted a 30-day savings evaluation and reviewed students’ allowance management recorded in their logbooks. Results: The results show improved students’ understanding, as reflected in higher post-test scores. Furthermore, the one-month saving trends also showed increases in students’ balances, with varying patterns. Conclusions: These findings indicate the effectiveness of character piggy banks and logbook-based allowance management in fostering consistent saving habits among students.
