Abstract

This study examines the relationship between work-life balance and psychological well-being among nurses working in the Emergency Department (ED) at hospitals in the Bekasi region. The background of this research is based on the high workload and professional demands faced by ED nurses, which have the potential to impact their psychological well-being. The study aims to analyze the relationship between work-life balance and psychological well-being. The research method employed was non-probability sampling, involving 100 ED nurses as respondents. Data collection instruments consisted of questionnaires with work-life balance and psychological well-being scales that had been tested for validity and reliability. The data analysis results revealed a very strong positive relationship between work-life balance and psychological well-being (r = 0.877, p < 0.01). This indicates that an improvement in the balance between work and personal life correlates with an enhancement in psychological well-being. The discussion highlights that ED nurses who can maintain a balance between professional responsibilities and personal life tend to have better mental health, reducing stress and anxiety levels. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the importance of work-life balance in improving the psychological well-being of ED nurses. Therefore, it is recommended that hospitals consider the needs of nurses when formulating work policies, such as providing flexible working hours and social support, to enhance the well-being of healthcare professionals and the quality of services provided.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent to which workload intensity contributes to anxiety levels among private sector employees in East Jakarta. A quantitative research design employing an associative-correlational approach was adopted. A total of 100 participants were selected using incidental sampling techniques. The research utilized structured questionnaires on workload and anxiety, both of which had undergone prior validity and reliability testing to ensure data accuracy. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s correlation to assess the strength and direction of the relationship between variables, along with simple linear regression to determine the magnitude of workload's influence on anxiety levels. The findings revealed a statistically significant correlation between workload and anxiety (r = 0.612, p = 0.000). Moreover, workload accounted for 37.4% of the variance in anxiety levels. These results suggest that a substantial increase in workload intensity may act as a catalyst for heightened anxiety among employees. It is anticipated that the insights gained from this research may serve as a critical reference for organizations in evaluating and improving their workload management strategies for employees.

Abstract

The earthquake that occurred in Cianjur in November 2022 had an impact on all aspects. As a result of the accompanying team's observations and interviews with the children and those closest to them, it was found that the earthquake had an impact on the children's psychological condition. Among other things, they lose the fun and enjoyment of playing with their peers. They experience anxiety and fear and lack self-confidence. Childhood is a golden period in a series of developmental stages. During this period, almost all children's potential experiences rapid growth. This period is important because during this period various physical and psychological aspects develop. Considering this, in community service activities, one of the activities carried out is providing intervention for earthquake survivor children in the form of play therapy as a form of social support so that children can escape psychological trauma and return to age-appropriate developmental stages, such as being able to feel the fun of playing with his friends and exploring. After the intervention was carried out and re-observed, there were visible changes in the behavior shown by the children while playing. Those who were initially quiet, unhappy, and always wanted to be near their mother became active, laughed, and no longer worried after participating in play therapy activities.
