Abstract

The objective of this study is to enhance prospective biology teacher students' species knowledge by integrating the field trip method with the indigenous knowledge of the Betawi Tribe, specifically through the skill of making educational videos. The research method employed was a one-group pre-test-post-test design. This study delineates the learning steps, namely stimulation, ethnobiological discussion, exploratory research, video artifact creation, and publication, conducted with active student involvement. The findings revealed that 66.67% of the students demonstrated proficiency in video production. The field trip combined indigenous knowledge with video-making skills, effectively enhancing students' understanding of local plant and animal species commonly used in traditional Betawi cuisine. The improvement in understanding of local plants and animals is evidenced by the increase in post-test scores compared to pre-test scores, showing a gain of 3.67 points or 16.87%. In addition, the Wilcoxon test showed a significant increase in knowledge of species after the learning experience with a Sig. (Asymp. Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.005 < Sig. 0.05. Field trips that integrated the indigenous knowledge of the Betawi Tribe with video-making skills improved students' knowledge of various species. We expect this research to contribute to improving the quality of education by integrating indigenous knowledge with the development of digital skills

Abstract

Pendekatan pengetahuan lokal pada produk terfermentasi (etnomikrobiologi) bertujuan menggabungkan kaijan produk lokal terfermentasi dengan hasil refleksi pengetahuan lokal. Etnomikrobiologi dapat menunjang keterampilan para siswa untuk mengolah produk lokal yang melibatkan aktivitas, salah satunya tempe koro benguk (Mucuna pruriens) yang memiliki nilai nutrisi tidak kalah dari tempe pada umumnya. Oleh karena itu, urgensi edukasi dan sosialisasi proses pembuatan perlu dilaksanakan untuk menunjang pengetahuan produk-produk bagi para siswa, serta dapat meningkatkan keterampilan mereka setelah memahami teori produk lokal terfermentasi. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu mentransfer pengetahuan melalui sosialisasi teori dan praktik pembuatan tempe koro benguk kepada para siswa dan Guru di SMA Yadika 8 Jatimulya. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan di SMA Yadika 8 Jatimulya, Kota Bekasi, Jawa Barat. Kegiatan terlaksana pada bulan Juli 2024. Pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) dilaksanakan dengan dua bagian utama. Bagian pertama yaitu sosialisasi dalam bentuk pemaparan materi kegiatan PKM. Bagian kedua yaitu pelatihan langsung pembuatan tempe berbahan dasar kacang koro benguk. Kegiatan PKM yang dilaksanakan di SMA Yadika 8 Jatimulya pada para siswa dapat memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman tentang integrasi kearifan lokal kacang koro benguk dan pemanfaatannya sebagai produk pangan tempe koro benguk. Hasil evaluasinya 64% siswa menyatakan kegiatan PKM sangat bermanfaat, sebanyak 70% siswa tertarik untuk membuat tempe koro benguk dan sebanyak 76% siswa berpendapat bahwa kegiatan PKM pembuatan tempe koro benguk sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa dalam menunjang pembelajaran materi bioteknologi disekolah. Praktik pembuatan tempe koro benguk menjadi bagian penting pada pengembangan pengetahuan dan keterampilan siswa yang terintegrasi langsung dengan kearifan lokal serta memberikan pemahaman siswa pentingnya menjaga lingkungan untuk keberlangsungan hidup keanekaragaman hayati sebagai penunjang pembelajaran siswa

Abstract

The decline in biodiversity and lack of knowledge among young people regarding Reptilia or reptiles and Aves or birds are pressing issues that require attention. To address this, an educational video has been created to provide information on various species of reptiles and birds. Field research was conducted at Ragunan Zoo to gather data on these species, which was then used to produce the educational video. The exploration results reveal the classification of 17 species of Reptilia into three orders: Crocodilia, Squamata, and Testudines. A video on Reptilia is available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/NT5GOaZXmdQ. The video has a duration of 16 minutes and 44 seconds. Observations at Ragunan Zoo revealed the presence of 12 Aves species from 10 orders: Galliformes, Gruiformes, Phoenicopteriformes, Bucerotiformes, Ciconiiformes, Columbiformes, Falconiformes, Psittaciformes, Struthioniformes, and Pelecaniformes. A video about Aves is available on YouTube at https://youtu.be/aUGOXCsspmM, with a duration of 11 minutes and 47 seconds. Educational videos that feature native animals and species can help viewers gain a better understanding of animal diversity, particularly Reptilia and Aves. This increased understanding of biodiversity, including different species, can help raise awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity.
