Abstract

Anemia remains a significant global health issue, particularly among adolescents, where its prevalence threatens both individual well-being and national development. This study evaluates the impact of health education on improving anemia knowledge among 32 adolescent girls at SMPN 2 Majalengka. Using a quasi-experimental approach, pretest and posttest questionnaires assessed participants' knowledge before and after a structured health education program. The intervention included lectures and discussions covering anemia's definition, symptoms, risk factors, impacts, prevention, and treatment. Results revealed a notable improvement in knowledge, with the proportion of respondents scoring in the "good knowledge" category increasing from 65.6% in the pretest to 84.4% in the posttest. The greatest improvement in understanding anemia management was observed, rising from 46.9% to 75.0%. These findings underscore the importance of systematic and well-structured health education in enhancing adolescents' understanding of anemia and promoting informed health decisions. Future efforts should prioritize developing interactive and accessible health education programs for broader adolescent populations. Further research with larger sample sizes and diverse methodologies is recommended to generalize findings and explore additional factors, such as family support and healthcare access, that influence the effectiveness of health education interventions.

Abstract

Handover in nursing refers to the systematic transfer of patient information, responsibility, and accountability from one nurse to another, which usually occurs during shift changes, but in its implementation, often experiences weaknesses that can lead to a suboptimal handover process and can disrupt the continuity of care and hinder collaborative efforts that are important in promoting patient safety. This study aims to identify the causes of the suboptimal quality of the implementation of handover between nurse shifts with the SBAR method in the internal medicine room of a hospital in Cirebon City using a qualitative method with a situation analysis approach using fishbone analysis, which has components of man, money, method, material and machine. The results of the fishbone analysis obtained five causes of the suboptimal handover process, namely nurses' knowledge of handover with SBAR is still lacking, the components in the SBAR format are not optimal in documentation, there is no definitive evaluation team, there is no monitoring instrument and the handover evaluation is not optimally monitored periodically. Therefore, the author recommends solving the problem, namely providing education or training on handover using the SBAR method for nurses, compiling instruments or checklist forms that are easier for nurses to use in handover between shifts, re-socializing the handover SOP to nurses, compiling a monitoring schedule by the head of the room or team head, forming an evaluation team and compiling a periodic evaluation schedule.

Abstract

Abstract

Stroke is a substantial health issue that affects numerous individuals and their families. Stroke survivors and their carers sometimes face difficulties when transitioning from the hospital to their home. Implementing a family-centered care approach throughout rehabilitation is crucial for properly addressing the needs of both parties. Although advantageous, this strategy may give more importance to the worries of family members rather than those of the stroke survivors themselves. The objective of this study was to assess the efficacy of a family-centered care approach in stroke rehabilitation by an analysis of existing research literature and the examination of outcomes. This integrated literature study employs a methodology that investigates databases like Scopus, PubMed, Researchgate, and Google Scholar across several nations such as the United States, Canada, Australia, England, South Korea, the Netherlands, Japan, and others. The results indicated that implementing a family-centered care approach in stroke therapy yielded significant enhancements in the Both groups' physical and mental well-being. The existing body of research suggests that the involvement of family members in the provision of care and support for individuals who have experienced a stroke leads to enhanced outcomes in relation to physical functioning, psychological well-being, and overall quality of life. In stroke rehabilitation, the implementation of a family-centered care approach ultimately leads to favorable outcomes for both stroke patients and their caregivers. Future research should place emphasis on the discovery of specific strategies for effective implementation and the evaluation of the long-term effects of these approaches on persons who have suffered a stroke and their family members.

Abstract

Drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB) presents both a biological challenge and a substantial psychological burden, particularly anxiety, which often disrupts treatment adherence and diminishes patients' quality of life. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) therapy as a non-pharmacological intervention for reducing anxiety levels among DR-TB patients. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group approach was employed. A total of 384 participants were recruited from Indonesia and Philippines. Anxiety levels were assessed using the validated Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale. Data were analyzed using paired t-tests to assess within-group changes, and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was conducted to control for potential confounding variables and determine between-group differences. The results revealed a statistically significant reduction in anxiety scores in the VR group compared to the control group (p < 0.001), with participants reporting improved emotional regulation and reduced psychological distress. These findings suggested that VR therapy was an effective non-pharmacological strategy for managing anxiety in DR-TB patients. The study contributed to the digital mental health literature by offering culturally relevant evidence on the application of immersive therapy in two high-burden TB countries. Integrating VR therapy into TB care protocols may enhance holistic patient management, particularly in resource-constrained healthcare systems.
