Abstract

Kata kunci: remaja, perilaku seksual, kost, pornografi.---Adolescence becomes a moment in individuals experiencing a shift in age and through puberty until physical, psychological, and character changes occur along with sexual behavior. Until now, the incidence of unwanted pregnancy in Indonesia has reached 51.7% among people aged 16-20 years, and attempts to have an abortion reached 6.54%. Also, the ease of accessing pornographic content in the form of images, videos, the appearance of advertisements, and other shows that display the association of modern adolescents in many uncensored social media uploads is one of the causes of deviant sexual behavior among adolescents. This study uses a cross-sectional method. The number of samples in this study was 108 teenagers in Medan city, North Sumatra, Indonesia. This study uses a questionnaire as a primary data collection tool. The analysis of this study uses crosstabulation analysis. The results of this study showed that 81,5% adolescents had dated, 100% adolescents claimed to have had sexual activity (walking together, holding hands, kissing, hugging, and having sex) and 62,0% adolescents living in boarding houses, with pocket money above Rp500.000/month. It was concluded that the current sexual behavior of adolescents is out of control in terms of sexual activity to cause several problems to emerge, such as free sex, attempts at abortion, early marriage, and unwanted pregnancy. This is influenced by several factors, one of which is the lack of supervision and control of parents of adolescents who live in boarding houses. Keywords: Adolescence, sexual behavior, boarding house,  pornography.

Abstract

Backgrounds: Indonesia is the second-largest cigarette market in the world, with an increased smoking rate among young people aged 10–18 years. The latest data show that smoking is increasingly common in youth. Tobacco control will reduce public demand for tobacco products, especially if the supply of tobacco can be limited. Methods: This study, conducted in Tebing Tinggi City, North Sumatra Province, aimed to collect data on the density of cigarette sellers around schools and their impact on students' smoking behavior. The research involved 1914 students from 10 schools, examining factors such as smoking laws, age at first smoking, daily cigarette consumption, location, and advertisements. The study used a cross-sectional design, GPS coordinates, QGIS 3.0 analysis, and in-depth interviews with a Tebing Tinggi City Health Office representative. The findings will be analyzed using the JASP computer program. Results: The study shows that 8.2% of adolescents in Tebing Tinggi City have never smoked, with mixed views on the smoking law. The majority do not smoke, with varying smoking rates and exposure to cigarette advertisements. The study also found a high density of cigarette sellers in junior and senior high schools, indicating a lack of awareness about smoking. Conclusions: Most adolescents in Kota Tebing Tinggi do not smoke, with mixed views on the smoking law. They are exposed to cigarette advertisements in school and home environments, with vendors providing easy access. Increased awareness and effective law enforcement are needed to control cigarette advertising and sales.

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a contagious disease that has become a strategic issue in the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) agenda, making it a priority for development in every country to achieve HIV/AIDS elimination by 2030. HIV/AIDS poses a significant challenge to public health globally, affecting both developed and developing countries, including Indonesia. This study aims to provide an overview of the incidence of HIV/AIDS at Puskesmas Helvetia. The study employed a quantitative design with a case-control approach. The research was conducted at Puskesmas Helvetia from December 2023 to June 2024. The population of this study consisted of all HIV-positive patients at Puskesmas Helvetia, totaling 855 individuals. A purposive sampling technique was used for case and control sampling, with a sample size of 154, split evenly between cases and controls (77 samples each). The study utilized both primary data, collected through interviews, and secondary data from the SIHA 2.1 application. The instrument used was a questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted using univariate descriptive analysis, including distribution and frequency. The results revealed that the majority of respondents were unemployed (53 individuals, 34.4%), had insufficient knowledge (80 individuals, 51.9%), had a history of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) (106 individuals, 68.8%), identified as homosexual (120 individuals, 77.9%), and did not use condoms (110 individuals, 71.4%). The low level of knowledge regarding STIs contributed to high-risk sexual behaviors, including inconsistent condom use. Therefore, there is a need for interventions such as more intensive health education, improved access to sexual health services, and economic empowerment programs for vulnerable groups to reduce STI incidence. Keywords:  HIV, AIDS, Incidence

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health issue in Indonesia. Preventive efforts should not only focus on toddlers but must also target adolescents as future parents, equipping them with adequate knowledge from an early age. This community service program aimed to empower university students through the "Mahasiswa Penting" (Students Who Care About Stunting) program, positioning them as educational agents to deliver stunting prevention information to high school and vocational school students in Medan City. The activity was conducted through training sessions for students as educational facilitators and the implementation of interactive health education sessions in schools. The materials covered included an introduction to stunting and the importance of adequate nutrition during adolescence. This program aimed to broaden adolescents’ understanding of stunting, including its causes and how they can actively contribute to its prevention. It also sought to enhance students' communication skills in delivering health information. The activity was carried out in three high schools/vocational schools in Medan, reaching a total of 71 adolescent participants representing each school. The results showed an increase in knowledge, with the average score rising from 52.67 to 77.74. This indicates a significant improvement in adolescents’ awareness of stunting and its risk factors. The program demonstrated that involving university students in stunting prevention can be an effective and sustainable promotive and preventive strategy. It is expected that this initiative can be expanded and replicated more broadly through cross-sectoral collaboration. Keywords: Stunting, University Students, Health Education, Adolescents

Abstract

Stunting remains a critical public health concern in Indonesia, contributing toelevated morbidity rates and undermining the quality of human capital. While primary healthcare services  are central to preventive efforts, their direct association with stunting at the national scale remains inadequately explored. This study investigates the relationship between  primary healthcare utilization and stunting incidence among children aged 0–59 months in Indonesia, using data from the 2023 Indonesia Health Survey (SKI). A cross-sectional analytical design was employed, involving 79,141 children after data cleaning.  Nutritional status was measured via the height-for-age (H/A) indicator based on WHO Z-scores. Independent variables included child’s sex, maternal education level, maternal employment status, residential area, availability of primary healthcare facilities, and health insurance ownership. Statistical analysis encompassed univariate, bivariate (chi-square test), and multivariate (binary logistic regression) methods. Significant associations were found for sex,  maternal education, place of residence, and availability of healthcare facilities (p < 0.05), while maternal employment and health insurance showed no significant relationship. Multivariate analysis identified maternal education as the dominant determinant (p = 0.023; Exp(B) = 1.040; 95% CI: 1.006–1.077). Children of mothers with lower educational attainment faceda heightened risk of stunting compared to those whose mothers had higher education. Utilization of primary healthcare services was associated with stunting among children, particularly through maternal education as a key determinant. Findings underscore the importance of strengthening family-based interventions and enhancing maternal health literacy within the framework of primary healthcare to address stunting more effectively Keywords: Stunting, Children, Primary healthcare services, Indonesia
