Abstract

In soccer, the ability to kick on goal is a fundamental skill that significantly determines the effectiveness of an attack. This study aims to determine the effect of moving and fixed ball kick training on goal kicking skills in RBS Soccer School players. This study used an experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 34 players aged 13–15 years, divided into two experimental groups. The first group received moving ball kick training, while the second group received fixed ball kick training, each for 16 training sessions. Data were collected through observation and skill tests, and analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and paired sample t-tests. The results showed that moving ball kick training significantly improved goal kicking results compared to fixed ball training. The average post-test score for the moving ball group (10.20) was higher than that for the fixed ball group (9.00), with kicking performance improvements of 50% and 47.5%, respectively. Thus, moving ball kicking practice is more effective in improving goal-kicking skills in RBS Soccer School players.

Abstract

The low participation and difficulty in mastering movements among pencak silat students at MAN Palopo are thought to have an impact on their character development. This study aims to analyze the influence of YouTube social media on improving the character of pencak silat students. The method used is quantitative with a correlation approach. The population consisted of 100 students, with a sample of 20 people selected purposively based on the criteria of using YouTube to learn pencak silat for at least one hour per week. Data collection techniques used questionnaires and observations, which were then analyzed using Pearson's correlation test, regression, T-test, and F-test using SPSS. The results showed a very strong and significant relationship between YouTube usage and student character (r = 0.712; p < 0.05). Regression analysis proved that YouTube had a positive and significant effect on character building (β = 0.610; p < 0.05), which was reinforced by significant T-test and F-test results. The conclusion of this study is that the use of YouTube social media containing educational content on pencak silat has been proven to significantly improve students' positive character traits, such as discipline, responsibility, and respect.

Abstract

The level of youth participation in sports in Indonesia needs attention, while on the other hand, the use of social media in the lives of young people is becoming increasingly widespread. This situation raises questions about whether there is a relationship between these two phenomena, particularly in the city of Palopo. This study aims to analyze the influence of social media use on the level of youth participation in sports in the city. A quantitative approach was applied using a survey method with an online questionnaire (Google Form) distributed to 100 adolescents aged 10-24 years as a sample, selected using purposive sampling. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and tested using Spearman's correlation and simple linear regression. The results showed that there was no significant relationship between social media use and sports participation (p = 0.291 > 0.05). Further regression analysis also confirmed that there was no significant effect (p = 0.881 > 0.05), with an R² value of 0.034. The conclusion of this study is that social media use does not significantly affect youth sports participation in Palopo City, where only 3.4% of the variation in sports participation can be explained by social media, while the remaining 96.6% is influenced by other factors.
