Abstract

The capacity of a region or country to improve the well-being of its community reflects its economic growth and overall living standards. However, achieving sustainable economic growth requires monitoring macroeconomic factors such as poverty and unemployment, which significantly impact regional stability. This study, based on data from Statistics Indonesia, analyzed the relationship between these variables and economic growth using multiple linear regression. The findings suggest that unemployment does not significantly influence economic growth, indicating that its role in economic performance may be limited in this context. Conversely, poverty emerged as a critical factor with a significant impact on economic growth, highlighting its importance in shaping economic outcomes. Together, these variables underscore the need for focused efforts to maintain macroeconomic stability, particularly by addressing poverty, to achieve high and sustainable economic growth.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to examine the influence of population size and tax variables on economic growth in Maluku Province, Indonesia. The study employs a descriptive quantitative method utilizing secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics of Maluku Province, consisting of time series data from 2002 to 2022. The data were analyzed using a multiple linear regression model with the assistance of EViews 9 software. The results of the study show that, partially, population has a positive effect on economic growth in Maluku Province, while taxes have a negative effect on economic growth in in Maluku Province. The model exhibits a high explanatory power, with an R² value of 95.6%, indicating that the interplay between population dynamics and fiscal policy substantially accounts for variations in economic performance. These results underscore the necessity for integrated policy approaches that leverage demographic potential while addressing fiscal inefficiencies. Accordingly, the study recommends strategic investments in human capital development, tax administration reform, and infrastructure tailored to the province's archipelagic geography. Such measures are imperative for fostering inclusive and sustainable regional growth in the context of Indonesia's diverse economic landscape. Abstract

Women are always identified with only domestic work. In fact, women are a potential source of income for the sustainability of household livelihoods. Moreover, when compared to men, women have a greater level of tenacity, innovation and creativity than men. This condition is illustrated through the diversification activities of fish products which until now have only been consumed as is. The Community Service Team, Department of Development Economics, FEB, Pattimura University provides training and science and technology diffusion. The training was carried out by means of counseling regarding various diversification of products made from fish, while the science and technology diffusion was in the form of fish sauce products. The results of service activities show that fish products that are easily damaged and rotten can be given added economic value through diversification as well as being an alternative source of income for households in the form of fish sauce. Then, women in Mahia Hamlet have the desire to help their husbands earn additional income, but this desire is often hampered by various obstacles such as knowledge of product diversification and marketing.
