Abstract

Aluk Todolo, customary teaching in the rural area of Bastem Utara, constitutes a legacy of a tradition different from Islamic teachings but with values that significantly contribute to children's education in Muslim families. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The research location is in Dampan Village, North Bastem District, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The research subjects involved traditional leaders, Islamic religious leaders, and Muslim families who were selected randomly. Data collection was carried out through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Data analysis is done by organizing, interpreting and presenting the data narratively, followed by drawing conclusions. The validity of the data is maintained through the application of source triangulation. The research findings reveal that integrating Aluk Todolo cultural practices in educating Muslim families in Dampan Village fosters moral values and social harmony. Massipa' Namadarana (noble character) and Situtu Nene' (lineage) combine local traditions with religious teachings, strengthen family ties, and promote tolerance. The Rambu Tuka' ceremony (thanksgiving ceremony) displays the unity of culture and religion, enriching the education and life of Muslim families. These findings highlight the importance of integrating local cultural values and religious teachings in building a harmonious, tolerant, inclusive society. This provides insight for policymakers and educational practitioners to adopt educational approaches based on the richness of local culture while promoting universal values of tolerance and cooperation. This study highlights the importance of preserving religious traditions and rituals as an effective tool for promoting diversity and shared understanding in a pluralistic society.

Abstract

Extracurricular activities are a vital component in the educational process that supports holistic student development, encompassing intellectual, emotional, and social growth. This study aims to analyze the management of extracurricular activities at SMA Negeri 10 Luwu Utara and its impact on student motivation and achievement. Using a qualitative research design, data collection was conducted through observations, interviews, and documentation involving extracurricular supervisors, school officials, and students. The findings reveal that the management process follows four main stages: planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. The structured management approach significantly enhances student skills, fosters leadership, and boosts student engagement. However, several challenges were identified, including overlapping schedules, limited funding, and time constraints, which hinder the optimal execution of extracurricular programs. The study emphasizes that innovative management strategies, supported by the active role of teachers, school officials, and parents, are essential to maximize the benefits of extracurricular activities. Furthermore, the research highlights that effective extracurricular management not only improves student motivation but also enhances academic performance and character development. By addressing the existing challenges and strengthening collaboration among stakeholders, extracurricular activities can serve as a powerful tool to support student achievement and personal growth. This study provides valuable insights for educational institutions in developing more effective strategies to manage extracurricular programs and create a supportive learning environment that nurtures student potential in both academic and non-academic aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the analysis of Maqasyid Al-Syariah and its implications for family resilience in long-distance marriage in Bua District, Luwu Regency. The approach used is qualitative with three points of view, namely juridical, sociological, and regulatory approaches. Data was collected through observation, documentation, literature studies, and in-depth interviews with 16 resource persons consisting of married couples, community leaders, and religious leaders. The analysis process was carried out by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing systematically to gain a deep understanding of the social dynamics and Islamic family law in the research area. The results of the study show that couples who undergo long-distance marriages face a number of challenges such as suspicion, miscommunication, unmet spiritual needs, financial pressure, and the potential for infidelity that can lead to divorce. However, many couples are able to maintain domestic harmony by trusting each other, maintaining communication, fulfilling rights and obligations, and fostering patience and sincerity. The analysis of maqāṣid al-syarī'ah reveals that the principles of ḥifẓ al-nafs, ḥifẓ al-'aql, ḥifẓ al-nasl, and ḥifẓ al-māl can still be realized when the couple is able to maintain the spiritual, emotional, and economic balance of the family. Socially and scientifically, this research contributes to the strengthening of the study of Islamic law and family resilience by showing that the values of maqāṣid are adaptive and relevant in responding to contemporary social challenges, including the phenomenon of long-distance marriage.
