Abstract

Abstract: The problem of garbage is the issue of how human beings understand and bring alive the concept of himself or herself. Islam as a Gospel of Action has a certain perspective about human beings and the environment. Human beings, as written in some letters and hadith, are the most perfect part of God’s creation (kāmil) to whom two status are attributed, namely servant of God and Caliph. As servant of God and as Caliph, human beings are God’s chosen creation who are entrusted to take care of the universe. If so, then the problem of garbage which arises from the brutality of humans is a provocation attacking the status of human beings as the servant of God and Caliph. Keywords: Garbage, Islam, God, the servant of God, Caliph, human beings. Kata-kata kunci: sampah, Islam, Allah, abdi Allah, Khalifah, lingkungan hidup, manusia.

Abstract

This article focuses on the roots of radicalism as can be seen in young Muslims in NTT Province. The majority of the population of this province are either Protestant or Catholic Christians. Nationally, NTT has a reputation for being a province which is coloured by religious tolerance. People of different religions live side by side peacefully. A probable reason for this is the fact that family and friendship relationships tend to cross religious boundaries. However, in recent times religious harmony has been impacted by radical  thinking among tertiary Muslim students. These seeds can be seen in their understanding of, and attitude to, radical Islamism. At the level of understanding, they do not differentiate between Islam as a religion and Islam as an ideology. At times they identify radical Islamism as the teaching of Islam. Attitude-wise, this article points out that a considerable number of respondents hold certain convictions which are in line with the ideology of radical Islamism. Keywords: Radical Islamism, fundamentalism, radical Islam, Islamic student, ideology of a Islam, terror, terrorism.

Abstract

Rejuvenation of religion is one of the right steps to address public unrest related to the presence of transnational ideology in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). The Human Fraternity document signed by Pope Francis and Sheikh of Al-Azhar, Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, very cleverly compiled constructive ideas for the purpose of religious rejuvenation. A very fundamental point in the spirit of Human Fraternity is interpreting religion not as a wall that separates followers of religion, but rather as a bridge that leads followers of religions to meet and make peace with followers of other religions. The straight path to the bridge of peace is dialogue that can be implemented in many forms and ways. With a dialogical spirit nourished by the idea of religious rejuvenation inspired by the document, we can certainly paralyze the radical understanding or transnational ideology that is always counterproductive to NTT's public dreams, to build the future of religious harmony in the foundation of Pancasila (National Ideology) and Multiculturalism in order to create a prosperous NTT community

Abstract

This article discusses the phenomenon of religious intolerance in Indonesia through Cak Nur's perspective of pluralism. Pluralism, which is the main framework of this article, is the basis for revealing the complexity of the challenges faced by Indonesian society in understanding and appreciating religious pluralism. Cak Nur, a contemporary Islamic thinker and intellectual, provides a rich perspective on religious diversity and the importance of tolerance in religious dialogue. This article aims to highlight a number of factors that influence the emergence of intolerance in Indonesia. In this article the author uses a qualitative method, namely exploring and studying themes that are relevant to the theme of this article. Even though this country is rich in religious diversity, some groups still experience inequality and there are still tensions between religions. Within the framework of Cak Nur's pluralism, this article presents solutions based on dialogue and education from the perspective of Islamic teachings to overcome misunderstandings about the nature of religious diversity. This analysis also includes the role of social media, especially the Instagram account @jaringangusdurian in shaping public opinion regarding religious tolerance. By understanding Cak Nur's views, this article invites readers to understand and reflect on how Indonesian society can form a shared awareness of the values of pluralism, so that acts of intolerance in the name of religion no longer occur in the archipelago. This article uses Cak Nur's inclusive approach as a key step to reduce tensions and build a solid foundation for religious discourse.

Abstract

If in the clouds there is always water that will fall to wet the barren earth, this is also the case with every story in the sirah nabawiyah. The aim of this research is to find educational pearls behind every story or event. There are two methods that will be used in this research, namely: first, using "Library Research" where the method in this research will use theories taken from literature books that support and are relevant to the title of this research. Second, researchers use field research that is appropriate to the object the researcher chooses. This research is a type of field research with a qualitative approach. This research is also supported by library research, namely data sources in the form of books or literature related to the discussion. The results and discussion of this research study are that the "birth and forty years before prophethood" phase of the sirah nabawiyah does not merely contain a series of meaningless stories. In each story or event from this phase, various educational pearls are contained. The conclusion of this study is that readers of the prophet's life history can capture many inspiring moral messages. If so, we can break the expression uthlub al-'ilm walau bi ash-shiin (seek knowledge even in China) with a more Islamic thesis, namely uthlub al-'ilm bi al-qiraat wa al-ta'malu fi sirah nabawiyah .

Abstract

This research discusses about Multicultural Pedagogy Responds to the Problem of Radicalism Entering Campus. Our social conditions today are not good. The real threat of radicalism does not only target vulnerable institutions or communities that do not have adequate immunity to thought. However, the fact that campus communities are also exposed to forbidden ideology, radicalism, is an indicator that all institutions or communities have the same potential to be exposed. This reality urges all parties, especially education practitioners and all stakeholders, to fight together against the common enemy called radicalism. Multicultural pedagogy discussed in this article is one alternative solution that can be implemented in responding to the real threat of radicalism. In addition, the roadmap to support this solution is strengthening religious moderation and a collaborative spirit from all stakeholders. United we stand, divided we fall.

Abstract

The escalating climate crisis increasingly challenges theology to engage with ecological issues through contextual and inclusive approaches. While dominant eco-theological discourse often reflects Western paradigms, local cosmologies that embody ecological wisdom remain underrepresented. The study aimed to examine traditional beliefs as an eco-theological force for sustainability by reinterpreting Mori Keraéng, a Divine figure in Manggarai cosmology, through dialogue with Catholic eco-theology. The research employed a qualitative ethnographic method, using in-depth interviews and participant observation in historically and culturally significant villages in Manggarai and East Manggarai, involving traditional leaders, community heads, and local residents. The findings reveal that traditional practices such as ritual offerings, communal land management, and ecological taboos embody a living ecological ethic that restrains exploitation, fosters balance, and strengthens resilience against environmental degradation. These practices demonstrate that traditional spirituality functions not as a relic of the past, but as an active and transformative resource for sustaining life. The study affirms that local cosmologies, when theologically reinterpreted, can enrich Catholic ecological theology, contribute to global eco-theological discourse, and inspire sustainable practices to rebuild human-nature relations in the Anthropocene era.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the concept of rationality of the heart” proposed by Blaise Pascal as a foundation for fostering interfaith tolerance in Indonesia. The method used in this study is qualitative-descriptive, with literature review serving as the data collection instrument. Through this methodology, researchers have found that Pascal's concept of the “rationality of the heart” provides an alternative yet crucial idea in responding to the widespread phenomenon of interfaith intolerance. Pascal's thought becomes relevant in countering intolerant practices not only at the grassroots level but also those perpetuated by the state through various discriminatory policies. Moreover, issues of intolerance are also fueled by an exclusive understanding of religion, characterized by the belief that one's own religion is the sole bearer of truth (truth claim). Pascal proposes that religious issues, which often revolve around dogmas—the products of mere intellectual contemplation and sources of conflict between right and wrong—should be transformed by placing the heart as the new foundation. In Pascal's perspective, the “heart” is one filled with compassion, capable of transcending religious boundaries by experiencing the tangible presence of God in a diverse national and societal life. Keywords: Attitude of Intolerance, Religion, Rationality of the Heart, Blaise Pascal   Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji konsep “rasionalitas hati” yang digagas oleh Blaise Pascal sebagai dasar dari sikap toleransi antarumat beragama di Indonesia.
