Abstract

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted the Indonesian economy, highlighting the crucial role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in economic recovery. While previous studies have explored general MSME performance, there is a lack of focused research on how innovative strategies in product packaging and branding can directly impact the operational success of fresh noodle producers.Purpose: This study aims to fill existing research gaps by addressing the limited empirical data on the specific factors influencing the performance of MSMEs in the food production sector, particularly in the context of fresh noodles.Design/Methodology/Approach: An explanatory quantitative approach was used to explore the relationships between these variables. A sample of 40 respondents was selected using purposive sampling, with the criteria that respondents must be fresh noodle producers, located in the Madiun residency area, and have been in business for at least 2 years. Data analysis was performed using multiple regression analysis with SPSS 25 software to examine the cause-and-effect relationships between product packaging innovation, branding, technological capability, and MSME performance.Findings/Result: The results indicate that product packaging innovation, branding, and technological capability have a significant positive impact on the performance of fresh noodle MSMEs. Simultaneously, all three variables significantly contribute to the overall performance of MSMEs in the Madiun Residency. Conclusion: This study offers practical guidance for entrepreneurs and stakeholders in designing strategies to support MSME sector growth. It provides actionable insights into how fresh noodle producers can improve their market presence and overall performance.Originality/Value (State of the Art): By concentrating on innovative strategies in product packaging and branding specifically for fresh noodle producers, this study provides a unique contribution to the broader understanding of MSME dynamics in Indonesia, particularly within the food production sector. Keywords: product packing innovation, branding, technological capability, MSME performance, multiple regression

Abstract

Economic growth in developing countries is often accompanied by an increase in carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. Indonesia, as one of the largest economies in Southeast Asia, deals with a dilemma between driving for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth, open trade, and high dependence on fossil energy, all of which lead to serious impacts on environmental quality. This study aims to analyze the effect of GDP, open trade, and fossil energy consumption on Indonesia’s CO₂ emissions in the period 1994–2024 using 31 annual observations. The dataset is primarily obtained from the World Bank’s. The research applies descriptive method with OLS regression. The results indicate that GDP, open trade, and fossil energy consumption have a positive and significant impact on CO₂ emissions. GDP growth drives higher emissions through industrial and economic activities that are not yet fully aligned with environmentally friendly principles. Fossil energy consumption is proven to be the main driver of emissions, while open trade also contributes to rising emissions through the scale effect of economic activities.

Abstract

The halal personal care industry in Indonesia has recorded rapid growth in recent years, as evidenced by the increasing number of locally halal-certified brands and a noticeable shift in consumer preferences toward prioritising product safety and halal identity. This market dynamic highlights the need to better understand the factors that shape consumer purchasing behaviour. This study aims to examine the influence of internal product characteristics, namely price and halal labelling, and external factors, including perceived product quality and halal awareness, on purchase behaviour, with purchase intention serving as a mediating variable. This study targeted individuals within the productive age group who consume halal personal care products. Data were collected via an online questionnaire administered to 144 respondents and analysed using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) approach. The results indicate that halal awareness and halal labels significantly influence purchase intention, whereas perceived product quality and price do not. Furthermore, purchase intention is shown to be a crucial mediator linking halal awareness and halal label to actual purchase behaviour. These findings underscore that consumer purchase behaviour in this category is driven more by value orientation and halal identity than by functional product considerations.

Abstract

Indonesia is committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which necessitates continuous evaluation of development outcomes across regions. Economic growth serves as a key indicator of sustainable development, making it essential to understand the factors that influence it. This study aims to examine the impact of the poverty rate, unemployment rate, and Human Development Index (HDI) on economic growth in Central Java Province. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilizes panel data from 35 regencies and municipalities in Central Java for the 2019 to 2024 period and applies panel data regression using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM), selected through specification tests to ensure robustness. The findings reveal that poverty (β = -0.0149967; p < 0.001) and unemployment rates (β = -0.0051182; p < 0.001) have a negative effect on economic growth, while the HDI (β = 3.201663; p < 0.001) has a positive and significant effect. The model explains approximately 60% of the variation in economic growth (R² = 0.6019). These results underscore the importance of reducing poverty and unemployment while enhancing human development as key drivers of regional growth. The study contributes empirically by integrating poverty, unemployment, and human development variables simultaneously within the SDG framework, thereby providing comprehensive insights to support policy formulation aimed at achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth in Indonesia.
