Abstract

This research, conducted at TK Al-Irsyad Al-Islamia in Gorontalo, Indonesia, investigated the effectiveness of using clothespins as a manipulative media to enhance fine motor skills in young children aged 4-5 years old. Initial observations revealed that some children exhibited underdeveloped fine motor skills, struggling with activities like coloring, pasting, and drawing. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing survey methods and document analysis. Findings indicated that the use of clothespins as a manipulative tool proved effective in improving fine motor skills. Children successfully matched the number of clothespins with numbers on a cardboard and stood them upright, demonstrating improved fine motor control. The research recommends the regular use of clothespins as a manipulative aid in learning activities to enhance fine motor skills in young children. Further research is needed to explore the effectiveness of using clothespins with varying age groups and levels of difficulty. It is hoped that this research will inspire educators to utilize creative and engaging manipulative media in their teaching practices, thereby fostering children's interest and motivation in learning.

Abstract

Introducing a sense of tolerance from an early age, especially in preschool, is crucial for building a harmonious society. This article discusses the importance of instilling the values of tolerance and mutual respect among children, particularly in the context of religious diversity. The study, conducted at Telkom Kindergarten in Gorontalo, involved seven students aged 5-6 years. The data collection technique used a Guttman scale questionnaire with intervals (Yes-No). The results showed that 85% of children had demonstrated tolerant attitudes, which include accepting differences, respecting others, and appreciating the religion or beliefs of others. However, there were still 15% of children who were not fully tolerant. Therefore, it is recommended to further develop social tolerance skills in early childhood through various structured and systematic approaches, such as modeling, habituation, storytelling, outdoor activities, singing, and providing appropriate rewards and consequences. It is important to build strong synergy between parents and teachers in formal educational institutions to guide children in developing a tolerant character. In addition, efforts need to be made to increase students' awareness of good behavior, and parents' use of democratic education also plays a crucial role in developing tolerance skills in early childhood.

Abstract

Early childhood cognitive development is an important foundation for successful learning and further development. One of the factors that significantly influences this development is structured and continuous stimulation education. This study aims to analyze the effect of stimulation education on cognitive development in Kartika XXI-17 Kindergarten. Cognitive ability is the child's ability to think more complexly and to reason and solve problems, the development of this cognitive ability will make it easier for children to master broader general knowledge, so that they can function properly in everyday community life. However, in its development, not all children in Kartika XXI-17 Kindergarten can develop according to their stages. Stimulation education has been proven to be more effective when carried out early, with an approach that is appropriate to the child's developmental stage. In conclusion, stimulation education plays a crucial role in accelerating and optimizing the cognitive development of early childhood, so it needs to be an integral part of child care and education practices.
