Abstract

Abstract

Pre-anesthesia assessment is very important in ensuring the success of surgical procedures, especially in cases involving comorbidities, such as cardiovascular disorders. Pre-anesthesia assessment is often only performed by 19.5% of anesthesiologists, and the results are not recorded immediately after the procedure in the patient's medical records due to time constraints. This study aims to determine the factors that influence anesthesiologists in conducting pre-anesthesia assessments on surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders. The research design used was a correlational analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The population was anesthetists in Indonesia, and the sample was selected using purposive sampling. Univariate analysis was performed by determining the frequency distribution and percentage of general characteristics of respondents, while bivariate analysis with chi-square was performed to determine the relationship between factors affecting anesthetists in conducting pre-anesthesia assessment on surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders. The sample size in this study was 245 respondents. The results of the study showed that factors associated with the implementation of pre-anesthesia assessment in surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders were length of service (p 0.020), workload (p 0.018), and number of anesthesiologists (p 0.009).

Abstract

Pharmacological therapy in treating hypotension after spinal anesthesia causes various side effects including tachycardia, headache, edema, body electrolyte imbalance, acid base imbalance, volume overload, anaphylaxis and coagulopathy. Non-pharmacological therapy can be an alternative choice to avoid the side effects of pharmacological therapy. Knowledge is one of the things needed in implementing non-pharmacological therapy. Knowledge is influenced by several factors, including education level and length of work. Through this research, we want to know the relationship between length of work and level of education with the level of knowledge of non-pharmacological therapy. The research design used is correlation analytical research with a cross-sectional approach. The population taken were anesthetists in Bali using a total sampling technique. The sample in this study was 102 anesthetists using a total sampling technique. Bivariate analysis with the chi square test was carried out to test the relationship between length of work and level of education with the level of knowledge of non-pharmacological techniques in treating hypotension. The results of the study concluded that the level of knowledge had a significant relationship with length of work (p < 0.001) and level of education (p < 0.001).

Abstract

Education on anesthesia for cardiovascular disorders includes matters related to anesthesia from pre, intra, to post anesthesia and will affect how prepared the patient is to face post-anesthesia conditions. Education on anesthesia has not been implemented optimally, its implementation only focuses on pre-anesthesia preparation, while for intra and post anesthesia its implementation has not been optimal. This is influenced by several factors. Through this study, we want to know the factors that influence anesthesiologists in providing education on anesthesia procedures in surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders. The research design used was a correlation analytic study with a cross-sectional approach. The population taken was anesthesiologists in Indonesia with a purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study was 254 anesthesiologists with a purposive sampling technique. Bivariate analysis with the chi square test was carried out to test the factors that influence anesthesiologists in providing education on anesthesia procedures in surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders. The results of the study concluded that work patterns had a significant relationship with the provision of education (p <0.001), while length of work (p 0.823) and workload (p 0.113) were not significantly related to the level of education provision. Further research is recommended on the dominant factors that influence the provision of education on anesthesia procedures in surgical patients with cardiovascular disorders.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Childhood cancer is characterized by abnormal cell growth that can metastasize and requires palliative care. Common types include leukaemia, brain tumours, neuroblastoma, and osteosarcoma. Although the exact cause remains unknown, contributing factors include genetics, exposure to carcinogens, and the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV). Symptoms may include persistent fever, severe pain, fatigue, and developmental delays. This community service program aims to educate parents on pain management and provide support through emotional and visual distraction therapy. The method applied is action research, consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation phases. Activities were conducted in collaboration with the Bali Childhood Cancer Care Foundation and included colouring, discussion, and a hope tree session. Pretest results indicated an average pain score of 4, which decreased to 1–2 in the post-test. Patients and families reported positive outcomes. In conclusion, distraction therapy is effective in reducing pain non-pharmacologically and should be sustainably implemented in pediatric palliative care. Keywords: Children, Family, Pain Management, Emotional and Visual Distraction
