Abstract

This study examines the contestation of the worship space by looking at how three religions: Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism, occupy space in the tri-dharma worship building. This paper discusses the conceptual, theoretical, historical, and contemporary political aspects of the three religions in Indonesia and how the Indonesian government has historically encouraged Buddhists, Confucians, and Taoists to worship in the same space. This study surveys secondary data on the architecture of the Tri-Dharma houses of worship in Indonesia and looks at how the elements of each religion are placed in the buildings and how this reflects the contestation of the three religions in Indonesia. The result of this research shows that architectural contestation occurs in the altar room, ornamental, and overall building style. This contestation reflects which sects are dominant and which are peripheral to the three religions. This finding has implications for the importance of efforts to foster harmony between Tri-Dharma religious communities in Indonesia and how each one responds to architectural dominance and builds a more varied architecture of places of worship for the Tri-Dharma religion.

Abstract

Treatment and healing facilities for special lung diseases at the Palembang City Pulmonary Hospital currently in need of increased facilities and total rehabilitation, the current facilities can be said to be relatively minimal. It can be said that it is inadequate when viewed from the facilities and infrastructure available now, for inpatient facilities which are still simple, for ventilation systems only limited by using makeshift media and air ventilation, the physical building and the environment are not well maintained and the circulation of the building is still relatively narrow. Therefore, a Special Lung Hospital is needed which accommodates patients with special lung diseases in South Sumatra, with an emphasis on the physical environment and facilities that can support care in the patient’s health recovery process and create a special scale lung hospital environment. Cities with facilities that support the patient’s adaptation process by involving the effects of environmental management through an emphasis on the concept of Healing Environment.

Abstract

Through this research, a thorough exploration of various aspects was carried out, including the physical design of the park, usage patterns by the community, and their perceptions of the open space. Research methods involving surveys and observations allow a more comprehensive understanding of the dynamics that occur within the park. The results of the analysis provide an in-depth understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced in efforts to improve the quality of public open spaces, especially in the context of the Simpang POLDA Park. Factors such as object design, accessibility, use, and basic function patterns are the main focus in evaluating positive or negative impacts on park use by local communities. The implications of this research finding can be a basis for designing more effective policies in maximizing the social benefits of public open spaces in cities.

Abstract

The Heritage awareness is an important element in ensuring the preservation of cultural heritage. Religion and cultural similarities are known to play an important role in heritage awareness. The problem in this research was the low awareness of the local community of their heritage, which was built from different religious cultures. In line with this, it is important to build an identity that can connect the community's religion with the religious context of the cultural heritage so that the community is aware of this heritage. This research aims to propose an architectural solution for raising public heritage awareness using religious similarity. Using literature review, the authors suggest the existence of a time tunnel that becomes a transitional space that connects people's current religious awareness with the past. The time tunnel is the context of cultural heritage in sites as well as in educational programs to raise awareness of the community's heritage as part of their identity. In general, the idea is supported by the liminality theory and threshold concept learning theory. We show the idea of using Buddhist heritage in contemporary Islamic Indonesia. These results provide concrete ideas based on architectural psychology and education and encourage the development of heritage conservation in areas that already have significant cultural differences from the communities that produce this heritage.
