Abstract

The phenomenon of the strong mental resilience among traders at Ramayana Cikarang reflects a tangible form of psychological endurance and spiritual strength amid a challenging environment. Despite the building’s deteriorating condition, frequent fires, and recurring stories of supernatural disturbances, many traders continue to remain in the same location. Their decision is influenced by economic factors, customer loyalty, and a religious conviction that sustenance (rezeki) is predetermined by Allah SWT. Using the perspective of the psychology of religion, this article explores how religiosity and spiritual beliefs shape the traders’ mental resilience in facing uncertainty and risk. The findings indicate that faith and spiritual meaning serve as primary sources of peace, hope, and courage in confronting difficult situations.

Abstract

In the era of globalization and rapid advances in information technology, the challenges of shaping children’s religious character have become increasingly complex. This study aims to investigate the role of parents as the primary educators in the development of children’s religious character. Using a qualitative approach, the research explores the experiences and perspectives of parents and children through semi-structured interviews. The findings indicate that parents can shape children’s religious character through various approaches, such as serving as positive role models, creating a supportive environment, and accompanying children in religious practices. Effective communication and positive reinforcement play an important role in the development of a strong personality in children. By involving children in religious activities and explaining moral values, their understanding and internalization of religious teachings can be strengthened. These findings are expected to provide new perspectives for parents and the wider community on the importance of religious character education in fostering a generation that not only understands but also practices religious values in everyday life.

Abstract

The everyday experiences of adolescents working as parking attendants in Bojong Market illustrate how informal workers navigate economic uncertainty in urban public spaces. This study examines how economic pressures, work-related risks, and religious beliefs intersect in shaping their daily lives and coping strategies. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were obtained through direct observation and in-depth interviews with parking attendants operating in the Bojong Market area, Bekasi. The findings indicate that economic necessity remains the primary motivation for engaging in informal work, while irregular income patterns contribute to ongoing financial insecurity. In addition, participants are frequently exposed to occupational risks such as interpersonal conflict, traffic-related accidents, and negative social labeling. Amid these challenges, religious beliefs play a significant role in sustaining emotional endurance and personal meaning. Although economic demands often limit the consistent performance of formal religious practices such as daily prayers, values related to Tawakal (trust in God) and Rezeki (divinely granted livelihood) function as important sources of resilience. These beliefs help individuals rationalize uncertainty, affirm the legitimacy of their work, and preserve optimism. This study offers insight into the ways informal workers integrate spiritual understanding into their strategies for resilience and identity formation under conditions of economic vulnerability.

Abstract

This study examines the role of religious educational institutions, particularly the Rahmatul Mujtahidin Al-Qur'an Education Park (TPQ), in fostering religious behavior among adolescents. Using a qualitative case study approach, this study was conducted in Selang Cibitung and involved adolescents, administrators, and parents as participants. The results show that TPQ functions as a religious educational institution that can foster religious behavior through a curriculum that emphasizes moral values and religious practices. Positive interactions in the TPQ environment increase adolescents' social attachment and awareness, while parental involvement is an important factor in supporting children's religious education. These findings emphasize the importance of synergy between educational institutions, families, and communities in shaping better adolescent behavior in the modern era. This study also recommends the need for greater attention to institutional support for the development of effective religious education.

Abstract

Islamic education in institutions such as TKIT Qurrota A'yun plays an irreplaceable role in shaping a deep understanding and appreciation of Islamic values in the early years of the younger generation. Since its establishment in 2007, TKIT Qurrota A'yun has become the heart that breathes sincere religious values into its students. However, amid various challenges that arise in the process of teaching Islam, these challenges have had a significant impact on children's understanding and acceptance of religion, indicating the need for a comprehensive approach rooted in religious psychology to provide deep and sustainable insights. In a theoretical framework, religious psychology emerges as a crucial foundation that helps understand how individuals acquire and apply religious understanding in their daily lives. Religious psychology theories such as Kohlberg's moral development theory, Piaget's cognitive theory, and Vygotsky's social theory provide in-depth perspectives on how children understand religious doctrines and their impact on Islamic religious education. Recent studies, such as Smith's (2019) study on religious psychology in the context of religious education, highlight the importance of a deep understanding of how religious understanding influences children's development process. The purpose of this article is to analyze in depth the influence of religious understanding and doctrine on education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze complementary religious social support (RSS) patterns as a collaborative strategy between families and Islamic boarding schools in strengthening the resilience and religious character of adolescents. This topic is important because it highlights the psychosocial vulnerability of adolescents from dysfunctional families (broken homes) who require consistent environmental intervention. This qualitative research with a case study design was conducted at the Darojatul Ashfad Islamic Boarding School, involving caregivers, parents, and students as subjects. The results showed that this collaboration formed a functioning mesosystem, characterized by its complementary nature. The Islamic boarding school strategically filled the deficit in family spiritual support (RSS) through regular meetings and a checklist of religious practices, ensuring continuity of rules. The effectiveness of this mesosystem is proven to strengthen the resilience of students through a shift in coping mechanisms, from reactive to Tawakkal. The attitude of Tawakkal serves as a psychological anchor that provides inner peace, breaks the chain of trauma, and ultimately leads to character internalization. This is evidenced by changes in the students' behavior, which has become automatic (such as the initiative to perform the dawn prayer without being told) and the emergence of concern for the condition of their families. It is concluded that complementary collaboration is an effective intervention model for shaping the resilience and religious character of vulnerable adolescents.

Abstract

This study examines how religious education is understood and enacted through a psychological lens at SDIT Nuurul A’raaf, Cikarang Selatan, Bekasi. Employing a qualitative case study design, participants included the principal, one Islamic Education teacher, and 8–10 upper-grade students. Data were gathered via semi-structured interviews, participant observation of communal dhuha prayer, morning Qur’an recitation, and daily supplication, as well as document review; data were thematically analyzed with triangulation and member checking. Findings indicate an integrative model in which psychology informs children’s emotional and developmental needs while religion provides meaning and ritual structure. Teacher differentiation personal dialogue, empathic support, and value-laden storytelling was associated with higher motivation, prayer discipline, and improved emotional regulation; the classroom climate was supportive with minimal punishment-based control. Results suggest that religion functions as a positive force for children’s emotional well-being and prosocial behavior, with communal rituals acting as reinforcers of habits. The study recommends strengthening teachers’ micro-counseling skills, balancing the ritual calendar for variety and repetition, and conducting longitudinal evaluation to assess sustained impacts.
