Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of ethnoscience-based learning methods of Pacu Jalur Tradition on the cognitive abilities of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Kuantan Hilir. The methodology used in this research is quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent post-test design. Samples were analyzed randomly after normality and homogeneity tests were completed to determine the experimental group and control group. This research used test instruments in the form of multiple-choice questions about cognitive abilities. Analysis of research data using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The results of the independent sample t-test hypothesis test on cognitive abilities are shown with a significance level of 0.002 ≤ 0.05. There is a significant difference in students' cognitive abilities between ethnoscience-based learning in the Pacu Jalur Tradition and conventional classes. Learning based on the Pacu Jalur Tradition is effective in improving the cognitive abilities of students at SMA Negeri 1 Kuantan Hilir on the kinematics of straight motion.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the PBL learning model assisted by educational games could improve students' learning outcomes on the subject of flat shapes. This research was conducted in class V B SDN 105 Pekanbaru. The subjects of this study were 33 students which including 19 male students and 14 female students. The research model applied was classroom action research, consisting of two cycles. The teaching and learning process in each cycle is composed of four stages, namely: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The data in this study were obtained through tests and observations and then analyzed using descriptive presentation techniques. Based on the results of data analysis obtained in cycle 1, the average learning outcomes obtained by students were 83.0, with a percentage of completeness of 84.6%. The average learning outcomes of students in cycle 2 increased to 85.5, with a percentage of completeness of 91%. The percentage of completeness in cycle 2 is relatively large, which shows that the application of the PBL model assisted by educational games can advance students' mathematics learning outcomes on the subject of data.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' understanding of the concept of colligative properties of solutions in chemistry learning. The research method used is a quantitative method with data collection techniques through a dare questionnaire distributed using Google Form. The research subjects consisted of students of Medan State University who had studied the topic of colligative properties of solutions. The questionnaire used contained a series of closed and open questions to measure the level of students' understanding, including conceptual aspects, applications in daily life, and difficulties faced in understanding the material. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using descriptive tests to determine the distribution of students' understanding, as well as correlation tests to see the relationship between certain factors, such as academic background and learning resources used. The results showed that the level of students' understanding varied, with most students having a moderate understanding of the concept of colligative properties of solutions. Factors that contributed to this level of understanding included the teaching method used, the availability of learning resources, and students' learning motivation. The main challenge faced by students was in understanding the concepts of osmotic pressure and freezing point depression. These findings have an impact on improving chemistry learning strategies, especially in the use of more interactive and contextual methods to help students understand the concept of colligative properties of solutions more deeply.

Abstract

This article presents an in-depth analysis of the polarity properties of polar and nonpolar covalent compounds found in various family medicinal plants, and explores their potential applications in health and the food industry. Covalent compounds, which are formed through the shared use of electron pairs between atoms, play an important role in determining the chemical and physical properties of a substance. This study used solubility and filter paper testing methods to identify the polarity of compounds in plant samples such as orange, lemon, tomato, spinach, and chili, which were found to be polar, and cinnamon, ginger, turmeric, galangal, and kencur, which showed nonpolar properties. These results suggest that polar compounds have the potential to be applied in products that require interaction with water, such as herbal drinks, while nonpolar compounds are more suitable for use in oil-based formulations, such as ointments or essential oils. A deeper understanding of the polarity characteristics of these compounds not only broadens scientific insights into medicinal plants, but also opens up opportunities for the development of innovative products in the pharmaceutical and food fields ABSTRAKArtikel ini menyajikan analisis mendalam terhadap sifat polaritas senyawa kovalen polar dan nonpolar yang terdapat pada berbagai jenis tanaman obat keluarga, serta mengeksplorasi potensi aplikasinya dalam bidang kesehatan dan industri pangan. Senyawa kovalen, yang terbentuk melalui penggunaan bersama pasangan elektron antar atom, memainkan peran penting dalam menentukan sifat kimia dan fisika suatu zat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode uji kelarutan dan pengujian kertas saring untuk mengidentifikasi polaritas senyawa pada sampel tanaman seperti jeruk, lemon, tomat, bayam, dan cabai yang ditemukan bersifat polar, serta kayu manis, jahe, kunyit, lengkuas, dan kencur yang menunjukkan sifat nonpolar. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa senyawa polar memiliki potensi untuk diaplikasikan dalam produk yang memerlukan interaksi dengan air, seperti minuman herbal, sementara senyawa nonpolar lebih cocok digunakan dalam formulasi berbasis minyak, seperti salep atau minyak atsiri. Pemahaman yang lebih mendalam mengenai karakteristik polaritas senyawa ini tidak hanya memperluas wawasan ilmiah tentang tanaman obat, tetapi juga membuka peluang untuk pengembangan produk inovatif di bidang farmasi dan makanan berbasis bahan alami, yang semakin diminati oleh konsumen modern.
