Abstract

The development of technology has a significant impact on the way humans interact, such as the use of social media. In fact, many teenagers have not been able to control their use properly, thus affecting their academic environment. This study aims to analyse teachers' perceptions of the influence of social media on students' development and learning activities at school. This study used a qualitative method with a phenomenological design, involving eight teachers who were selected according to the research criteria. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews using interview guidelines supported by a voice recorder. Data analysis used thematic analysis techniques. This study successfully revealed four themes, namely the usefulness, sub-themes of More Interactive Learning, Easy to Disseminate Information, Easy to Manage Assignments and Easy to Conduct Assessments, and Improved Student Competence, Negative Impacts sub-themes of Addiction, Cyberbullying, Plagiarism, Unfocused Learning, and Indifferent Attitudes to Assignments, Barriers sub-themes of Facility Barriers and Competency Barriers, and Recommendations sub-themes of Used to Share Information, Used for Teaching Media, Scheduled Use, and Need for Training. Overall, teachers view social media as having a two-way impact, namely positive and negative depending on self-control of its use. If used appropriately, social media can support the learning process.

Abstract

Pendidikan merupakan suatu upaya dalam mencerdaskan generasi bangsa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan eksistensi kepala sekolah dalam kegiatan hizbul wathan untuk membentuk siswa yang bertanggung jawab. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, dengan teknik pengumpulan data observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi, teknik analisis data dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa  (1) Kegiatan Ekstrakurikuler Hizbul Wathan di SMP Ahmad Dahlan Kota Jambi berjalan dengan lancar dan tertib. Tentunya dengan pantauan dan bimbingan dari para pembina yang berpengalaman sebagai anggota Hizbul Wathan. (2) Kepala Sekolah tentunya berusaha semaksimal mungkin untuk mewujudkan dan menanmkan rasa tanggung jawab di hati siswa-siswi SMP Ahmad Dahlan. Dalam hal ini Kepala Sekolah mempersiapkan beberapa langkah dan upaya agar tercapainya wujud rasa tanggung jawab tersebut. Yaitu; (a) Persiapan Program Kerja (b) Persiapan Pembina (c) Persiapan Pelaksanaan (d) Evaluasi Hasil Kegiatan (3) Setiap siswa yang aktif dalam kegiatan Hizbul Wathan memiliki efek yang sangat signifikan karen beberapa event sekolah maupun event extra sekolah yang selalu diutus rata-rata adalah siswa-siswi yang aktif dalam kegiatan Hizbul Wathan. Kegiatan Hizbul Wathan disamping memberikan nilai-nilai keterampilan bagi siswa juga memberikan pelajaran penting yang wajib tertanam didalam hati dan sanubari setiap siswa yaitu Rasa Tanggung Jawab. (4) Dalam setiap kegiatan yang dituntut untuk mewujudkan suatu nilai-nilai positif pasti mengalami beberapa faktor yang menjadi hambatan. Dalam kegiatan Hizbul Watahan ini ada beberapa faktor yang menjadi penghambat dalam mewujudkan siswa yang bertanggung jawab, yaitu; (a) Siswa yang jarang aktif dalam kegiatan latihan (b) Kegiatan Sekolah yang sering dadakan (c) Rasa senioritas yang tertanam dalam hati.

Abstract

The decline in national literacy and the demands of the 21st century call for innovation in education, particularly in developing critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. This study aims to analyse the implementation of the School Literacy Movement (GLS) within the Jurnalis SASTRA extracurricular program at SMA Negeri 4 Pontianak as a strategy for fostering 21st-century skills. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis involving students, a supervising teacher, and the school principal. The findings reveal that integrating GLS into journalistic activities enhances basic literacy (Reading and writing), digital literacy, and cultural literacy. Activities such as news and opinion writing, short film production, poetry, and digital broadcasting develop students’ critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication. Furthermore, teamwork in journalistic production cultivates responsibility, discipline, solidarity, and adaptive collaboration skills. The study also demonstrates that journalistic practice serves as a platform for character education, instilling journalistic ethics and social empathy. Thus, Jurnalis SASTRA is not only a medium for developing 21st-century competencies but also a character education laboratory grounded in literacy. This study recommends strengthening GLS through journalistic approaches as an innovative and practical learning strategy to support curriculum development that is responsive to digital transformation and global challenges.
