Abstract

Abstrak Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) memainkan peran penting dalam perekonomian Indonesia, namun banyak pelaku UMKM masih belum memahami pentingnya legalitas usaha dan strategi pemasaran yang efektif. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman pelaku UMKM di Gampong Peurada, Kota Banda Aceh, mengenai pendaftaran Hak Kekayaan Intelektual (HKI) merek, perizinan PIRT, serta strategi pemasaran sabun cuci piring berbasis minyak nilam. Kegiatan ini melibatkan 15 peserta yang merupakan ibu rumah tangga dari Gampong Peurada dan dilaksanakan di Training Center USK pada 20-30 September 2024.  Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi sosialisasi materi terkait legalitas usaha, pemasaran, branding, dan analisis pasar. Selain itu, dilakukan juga penyerahan alat produksi untuk meningkatkan kapasitas produksi UMKM. Evaluasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui pre-test dan post-test untuk menilai peningkatan pemahaman peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta, seperti peningkatan pemahaman mengenai pentingnya kemasan produk (dari 52,63% menjadi 93,33%) dan proses perizinan PIRT (dari 33,33% menjadi 100%). Dukungan ini diharapkan dapat memperkuat daya saing UMKM di Gampong Peurada dalam menghadapi pasar yang lebih luas dan berkelanjutan. Kata kunci: UMKM; legalitas usaha; perizinan PIRT, strategi pemasaran; minyak nilam. AbstractMicro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the main pillars of Indonesia's economy, playing a crucial role as drivers of national economic growth. However, many MSME actors are still unaware of the importance of business legality, which often results in the circulation of unlicensed products. This service program aimed to enhance the understanding and capacity of MSMEs in Gampong Peurada, Banda Aceh, particularly in optimizing the production, rebranding, and marketing strategies for dishwashing soap based on patchouli oil. The activity was attended by 15 participants, consisting of local housewives, and took place from September 20-30, 2024. The program included training on trademark registration procedures, PIRT licensing, and effective marketing strategies, followed by the provision of production tools to improve the quality and quantity of the dishwashing soap. Pre-test and post-test evaluations showed a significant improvement in participants' knowledge, especially regarding product branding, packaging, and business legality. The program successfully enhanced the participants' skills, providing them with the necessary tools to expand their market reach and improve the competitiveness of their products. Keywords: MSMEs; business legality; PIRT licensing; marketing strategy; patchouli oil

Abstract

This community empowerment program aims to enhance the capacity and welfare of Kuala Gigieng salt farmers through the innovation of salt-derived products and the strengthening of product branding. The activities were carried out at the Training Center of Universitas Syiah Kuala and in Gampong Neuheun, Aceh Besar District, using a participatory training approach. The stages included socialization, training on the production of salt-based dishwashing soap, practice in crushing and packaging refined salt, business management assistance, and evaluation through pre-test and post-test. The pre-test results showed that most participants had limited understanding of soap making, branding, and business management (≥50% in the poor category). After the training, significant improvements were recorded: 62.29% of participants demonstrated excellent understanding of soap production, 78.57% understood tools and ingredients, 85.71% understood branding and marketing, and 100% expressed very high interest in the program. The dishwashing soap produced was characterized by good foaming quality, effective cleaning ability, and a fresh aroma from patchouli oil. In addition, raw salt was successfully processed into 250 g packaged refined salt under the brand Merak Bintang Global, which increased its market value by approximately 40% compared to bulk salt. Business management assistance also encouraged the establishment of simple financial records and a clearer organizational structure within the farmer group.
