Abstract

Equibrilliant is a game-board assessment to improve students' conceptual understanding of Chemical equilibrium. This game-based learning teaching material aims to overcome pro-long misunderstandings by teacher's quick feedback and enhance students' motivation through the enjoyment of play-learning. This approach applies the formative assessment to replace conventional assessment which limits the evaluation of students’ progress, contributes to prolonged misconceptions, and creates a stressful situation and low motivation. Analysis of findings through pre-posttest reveals that Equibrilliant gameboard assessment has improved 50% of students’ conceptual achievement and provides high impact assessment with a high mean score of 4.64. Utilizing Equibrilliant is a better way of assessing students’ concepts to prepare matriculation graduates as knowledgeable, innovative, and competitive in the STEM field in the future.

Abstract

The removal of forests has become a major challenge for indigenous students in Malaysia called Orang asli. The younger generations of Orang asli need to equip themselves with relevant knowledge to deal with changes within their living environment. However, they faced difficulties during learning such as irrelevant curriculum, lack of materials and inappropriate approaches. A project-based environmental module is constructed which employs the analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate (ADDIE) instructional model with three projects: the construction of habitat, soil acidity and infiltration of pesticides. This study aimed to develop this module and assess its suitability to inculcate scientific attitudes and noble values among the Orang asli primary six students. The data were collected through validation questionnaires that were given to three validators. The data obtained are further analyzed to identify their improvement towards the module. The validation results show that the module is very feasible (85.83%) to be used. Many opine that this module creates a learning experience for them through scientific reasoning, inquiring, cooperating, and decision-making so that they find the relevancy of knowledge in the Orang asli context. The enhancement of this module provides useful educational guidance to learn environmental knowledge from a scientific perspective.

Abstract

The study investigated the relationship of chemistry teachers’ knowledge, skills and affective on computer-assisted learning in Sokoto. A questionnaire was designed and distributed to 81 chemistry teachers in 24 secondary schools in the metropolis. The premises that guide the development of the test items used are strongly based on constructivism theory of learning and related literature. The data obtained from an online survey (Google form) were imported into an excel spreadsheet which was later keyed into SPSS 25 for further analysis. The results indicated that Chemistry teachers of Sokoto are have moderate level of both knowledge, skills and affective of computer-assisted learning. The results reveals that both knowledge, skills and affective serves independent purpose for instruction that utilizes computer-assisted learning. It concluded that the moderate knowledge, skills or affect are not significant for integrating computer-assisted learning in chemistry instruction. Awareness alone cannot guarantee quality integration of instruction in the classroom. Thus, chemistry teachers should seek more professional training on computer-assisted learning through workshop, seminars and conferences. Keywords: knowledge, skills, affective, computer-assisted learni
