Abstract

Background: Nurse Performance plays a role as a determinant of patient satisfaction when providing nursing care. Nursing services in hospitals are one of the determining factors for good or bad service, quality and image of a hospital. Factors that influence nurse performance are gender, working time arrangements, education, work experience and job satisfaction. The aim of this study was to analyze the performance of inpatient and outpatient ward nurses at Dr. Moewardi Hospital. Subject and Method: This research uses an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. This research is intended to find the relationship between the independent variables, namely gender, working time arrangements, education, work experience and job satisfaction, with the dependent variable, namely the performance of nurses in the inpatient and outpatient wards at Dr. Moewardi. This research was conducted in October-November 2023. A sample of 200 posyandu cadres was selected using random sampling. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires/interviews and data was analyzed using a multiple linear regression analysis model with a multilevel approach. Results: Gender has an influence and is significant between gender and nurse performance (b = -1.79; 95% CI = -3.13 to -0.45; p = 0.009). Working time arrangements have an influence on nurse performance, and this influence is statistically significant (b = 1.96: 95% CI = 0.39 to 3.54; p = 0.014). Job satisfaction has a positive and significant influence on nurse performance (b = 0.32 CI 95% = 0.10 to 0.4). The results of education and work experience did not show a statistically significant difference in nursing performance between nurses with DIII education and the nursing profession (b = 0.32; 95% CI = -0.86 to 1.51) and work experience of more than 12 years and less than 12 years (b = 0.71; 95% CI = -0.75 to 2.17). The results of this multilevel analysis also found that there was a contextual influence of the ward on nurse performance (ICC= 15.09%). Conclusion: Nurse performance is directly influenced by gender, working time arrangements and job satisfaction. Variations at level 2 wards have a contextual influence on nurse performance.

Abstract

Anxiety is a common psychological problem experienced by mothers after undergoing a cesarean section, especially when the baby is born prematurely and requires care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This separation condition can cause worry, helplessness, and may trigger postpartum blues and depression. This study aims to describe the application of Thought Stopping Therapy as a non-pharmacological intervention to reduce anxiety levels in post-cesarean section patients with premature babies. The method used was a case study on 1 post-cesarean section patient in Teratai 1 Ward of RSUD Kartini Karanganyar, conducted for 3 days with a duration of 10 minutes per therapy session. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and anxiety level measurements using the HARS questionnaire. The results showed a decrease in anxiety levels from severe (score 41) to mild (score 14) after therapy. Thought Stopping Therapy was effective in helping patients control negative thoughts and replace them with positive thoughts, thereby reducing both physiological and psychological symptoms of anxiety.

Abstract

Hemodialysis is cleaning blood through an artificial kidney or dialyzer assisted by a machine. Kidney failure patients undergoing therapy experience anxiety due to various stressors. One way to overcome fear is to use relaxation therapy, including Benson relaxation. Benson relaxation is a breathing relaxation technique with the addition of an element of belief in the form of words that express the anxiety that the patient is experiencing. This literature aims to determine the effectiveness of Benson's relaxation on reducing stress in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. A literature review comparing some literature through the journal databases used is Pubmed, Google Scholar, ScienceDirect, Garuda Portal, and Jane Semantic. The keywords are "Benson relaxation, anxiety, chronic renal failure and hemodialysis," "Benson relaxation technique on the anxiety of patient hemodialysis," "Benson relaxation for anxiety disorders," or "Benson relaxation for patients undergoing hemodialysis" or "non-pharmacological therapy for reduce anxiety from 2016-2021 full text. There are seven journals reviewed and used in this literature review. The results show that Benson relaxation is proven effective in reducing anxiety in chronic kidney failure patients undergoing hemodialysis. Keywords: Kidney disease; nursing care; relaxation technique; anxiety; psychological outcomes

Abstract

Abstract Background: Procedural interventions in children often cause anxiety, leading to increased stress responses and discomfort during treatment. One of the non-pharmacological interventions proven effective in reducing anxiety is the use of Virtual Reality (VR) as a visual distraction method. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of Virtual Reality on anxiety levels in children undergoing procedural interventions. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 36 children aged 3–12 years who underwent procedural interventions. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The findings showed a significant decrease in the mean anxiety score from 46.82 (SD = 11.608) to 26.06 (SD = 3.857) after the VR intervention, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05). Virtual Reality (VR) is effective in reducing children’s anxiety during procedural interventions. Conclusion: Virtual Reality has been proven to be an effective non-pharmacological distraction method that can decrease anxiety and enhance comfort in children undergoing procedural treatments
