Abstract

This study examines the impact of the digital economy on employment and workforce structure in Indonesia. The digital economy in Indonesia is growing rapidly, driven by e-commerce, digital financial services, app-based transportation, and artificial intelligence-based technology, with a projected contribution of more than USD 130 billion by 2025. Using a mixed-method approach, this study analyzed data from 200 respondents consisting of workers in the digital economy sector and traditional sectors affected by digitalization, as well as in-depth interviews with 15 representatives of workers, business actors, and policy makers. The results showed that 68% of respondents considered the digital economy to increase job opportunities, although 40% of respondents admitted that digitalization also caused job losses in certain sectors. Changes in the workforce structure are seen in the increasing need for technology skills (45%), digital marketing (35%), and digital business management (30%). The main challenges faced by workers include lack of digital skills (50%), uncertain income (40%), and lack of social security (35%). This study recommends strengthening digital skills training programs through collaboration between the government and the private sector, developing regulations for protecting digital workers, and increasing financial inclusion for digital economy workers. This study contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of workforce transformation in the digital era and provides strategic input for policymakers in managing the workforce transition towards an inclusive and sustainable digital economy.

Abstract

This study examines the socio-cultural impacts of the oil and gas industry on indigenous communities in Teluk Bintuni, West Papua, with particular focus on the Tangguh LNG Project. Through a qualitative case study approach utilizing in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, the research investigates how industrial development affects traditional practices, social structures, and economic patterns among the Sebyar, Sumuri, Irarutu, and Wamesa tribes. The study reveals significant transformations in community dynamics, including a shift from subsistence-based to cash-based economies, weakening of traditional leadership structures, and declining cultural practices. While the oil and gas industry has brought improved infrastructure, employment opportunities, and access to modern services through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs, it has simultaneously contributed to cultural erosion, social tensions, and land rights disputes. The research identifies a notable decrease in traditional ceremonies, communal gatherings, and indigenous language usage, particularly among younger generations increasingly drawn to modern lifestyles. Analysis of economic impacts shows a marked transition in livelihood patterns, with traditional hunting and farming activities being replaced by industrial employment and related service sectors. The study also highlights challenges in implementing effective CSR programs, noting limited community participation in planning and execution phases. These findings emphasize the need for more inclusive development approaches that balance economic growth with cultural preservation. The research contributes to the broader understanding of industrialization's impact on indigenous communities and provides recommendations for policy makers, corporate entities, and community leaders to foster more sustainable and culturally sensitive development practices. The study suggests that future success in similar contexts depends on strengthening legal frameworks for indigenous rights protection, improving community participation in decision-making processes, and developing more effective models for cultural preservation alongside industrial development.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the acceptability of color, taste and aroma of candied starfruit (Averrhoa bilimbi L.) with three different formulations, namely fresh starfruit, dried candied and wet candied. The assessment was carried out by 30 trained panelists using the Hedonic Scale Scoring method. The analysis results show that there are significant differences in the acceptability of color and taste of sweets based on different formulations. Wet sweets (P3) received the highest assessment in all aspects, including color, taste and aroma. Although aroma plays an important role in determining the deliciousness of food, statistical test results show that sweet formulations do not significantly influence the perception of aroma by panelists. These results provide important insights in developing candied starfruit products that are more in line with consumer preferences.

Abstract

The linguistic diversity in Bintuni Bay, West Papua, reflects the cultural richness of its people. This study identified seven languages spoken by various ethnic communities in the region. Muna is the most widely spoken language and has a "Safe" status, while languages such as Biak, Serui, Yapen, Numfor, and Moskona are experiencing a decline in the number of speakers, especially among the younger generation, and are facing the threat of extinction. Local languages in Bintuni Bay play an important role in maintaining cultural identity, as a symbol of cultural strength, and a link with ancestors. Through in-depth interviews with local communities, it was found that local languages not only function as a means of communication, but also as a means to convey cultural values and traditions in traditional ceremonies. However, a number of factors influence the use of local languages, including the influence of Indonesian language education, mass media, and globalization which introduces Indonesian and foreign languages as dominant languages in everyday life. Socio-economic changes, as well as migration and community movement, have also accelerated language shifts. This study emphasizes the importance of preserving local languages to maintain the continuity of the culture and identity of the Bintuni Bay community. The recommendations proposed include strengthening local language preservation policies, increasing the role of the younger generation in learning and using local languages, and raising public awareness of the importance of language as a cultural heritage that must be preserved.

Abstract

In recent decades, women’s participation in sports has grown significantly, reaching near parity with men in major competitions such as the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, this progress has not been mirrored in sports science research, where women remain underrepresented both as research subjects and academic leaders. This study aims to analyze the gender gap in sports science research, particularly regarding female athletes, by conducting a descriptive qualitative study using a literature review approach. Data were collected from reputable academic journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, as well as official reports from international sports organizations. Thematic analysis was used to categorize findings into key themes, including injury risks, nutritional disparities, and scientific leadership. The results show that only 6% to 9% of sports science studies exclusively focus on female athletes, while female participation in mixed studies ranges from 35% to 39%. Furthermore, female leadership in scientific publications remains below 30%. This underrepresentation creates a significant knowledge gap, leading to biased recommendations in training, nutrition, and injury prevention, as most guidelines are based on male physiology. The study also highlights the higher risk of injuries, such as anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, among female athletes, often overlooked in research that ignores hormonal fluctuations like the menstrual cycle. Initiatives such as the Female Athlete Science and Translational Research (FASTR) and the Global Alliance for Female Athletes (GAFA) have been launched to address these disparities, yet broader support is needed. In conclusion, increasing women’s representation in research and leadership is crucial to developing inclusive, evidence-based practices that better support female athletes’ health and performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze public perception of the music royalty controversy in Indonesia through YouTube comments. The development of digital technology has made YouTube a public space where discourse on cultural and policy issues, such as music royalty payments in the commercial space, is openly expressed. This study uses a quantitative approach with sentiment analysis based on the RoBERTa (Robustly Optimized BERT Pretraining Approach) model adapted for Indonesian, namely the Indonesian RoBERTa Base Sentiment Classifier. Primary data was obtained from comments on a YouTube video titled "Royalty Polemic, Cafes Afraid to Play Indonesian Songs" published by KompasTV. The analysis results show that negative sentiment dominates public conversation with 9,595 comments, far exceeding neutral (3,395) and positive (2,548) sentiment. This dominance of negative sentiment reflects strong public resistance to the royalty payment policy, which is perceived as an additional burden for business actors. Further qualitative analysis reveals that negative sentiment generally contains criticism and concern, while neutral sentiment is descriptive, and positive sentiment, although minor, indicates support for musicians' copyright protection. This study concludes that YouTube serves as a spontaneous and broad reflection of public opinion, and the use of the RoBERTa model proved effective in capturing the rich nuances of informal language in comments. This research contributes to filling a gap in the literature, which tends to focus on legal and economic aspects, by providing a digital data-based understanding of public responses to the issue of music royalties.
