Abstract

Highways are vital infrastructure in supporting land transportation systems, community mobility, and logistics distribution. To ensure safety, comfort, and structural durability, highway pavement design must be based on appropriate technical standards. This study aims to analyze the quality components of rigid highway pavement based on vehicle volume using two methods: Pd T-14-2003 and SNI 8457:2017, with a case study on the pavement project of the Cimanying–Jipu highway section. Primary data was obtained through field observations, while secondary data was obtained from relevant agencies, including traffic volume, vehicle types, and projections of average daily traffic growth. Based on a subgrade CBR value of 26%, both methods resulted in a concrete layer thickness of 20 cm, with concrete quality K-175 (Pd T-14-2003) and K-225 (SNI 8457:2017). Detailed calculations show differences in reinforcement specifications between the two methods. The analysis results indicate that SNI 8457:2017 specifies smaller dowel dimensions but with closer installation spacing, while Pd T-14-2003 requires larger reinforcement dimensions. This study helps provide recommendations for selecting a more economical and effective rigid pavement design method based on traffic conditions and site characteristics.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the economic feasibility of rigid pavement road construction through a comprehensive cost-benefit analysis using Net Present Value (NPV), Economic Rate of Return (ERR), and exponential methods, with a case study on the Cimanying-Jiput road section in Pandeglang, Banten.  This research employs a quantitative approach where data collection was conducted through field surveys to obtain primary data and documentation from relevant agencies to gather secondary data. The economic feasibility assessment uses NPV and ERR methods, where a project is considered economically feasible if it yields an NPV greater than zero and an ERR exceeding the Bank Indonesia discount rate of 4.60%. The calculation results show that the Net Present Value (NPV) is Rp. 5,687,857,786, and the Economic Rate of Return (ERR) is 15%. Both indicators demonstrate that the benefits generated exceed the costs incurred. Based on the cost-benefit analysis using NPV and ERR methods, the construction project for the Cimanying-Jiput road section is economically viable and recommended for implementation. The positive NPV and ERR values above the discount rate indicate that the project will generate substantial economic benefits for the community and transportation system in the region.

Abstract

Abstract

The primary concern addressed in this study is the impact of river water quality used in concrete mixing and curing on the compressive strength of concrete, considering that river water contains minerals and chemical ions that may inhibit cement hydration. The objective is to analyze the effects of varying water-cement ratios and curing durations using river water on concrete compressive strength and to provide technical recommendations applicable to construction practices in areas with limited clean water resources. The method involved laboratory experiments preparing 15x15x15 cm concrete cubes immersed in river water for 3 and 7 days, followed by compressive strength testing with a compression machine. The results showed that compressive strength increases with longer curing due to ongoing hydration, yet concrete cured with river water exhibited lower strength compared to that cured with clean water, attributed to minerals and chloride and sulfate ions interfering with hydration product formation. The implications highlight the importance of water quality testing and controlling the water-cement ratio to optimize concrete strength in projects using river water for curing, as well as the need for specific technical guidelines to ensure the safety and durability of concrete structures in water-limited environments.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effect of the use of bank guarantees and insurance on the success of claims in construction projects in Indonesia using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) method. Data were obtained from four groups of respondents: contractors, Commitment Making Officials (PPK) of the Cilegon City PUPR Office, insurance companies (PT Askrindo Insurance Kota Serang), and supervisory consultants (Indra Design). The results of the calculation showed that the entire comparison matrix was consistent (CR < 0.1). Of the seven main criteria, design changes gained the highest weight from the perspectives of contractors (0.456), insurance (0.394), and supervisory consultants (0.276), while project completion & time were most dominant for PPK (0.204) and supervisory consultants (0.467). Payments & finances also emerged as important factors with weights between 0.125–0.276. Meanwhile, the weight of bank guarantees and insurance was relatively low in the three technical perspectives (0.041–0.079) but was the main focus of the insurance perspective (0.482). At the alternative level of the field, poor contract clauses and delays in IMB licensing both occupy a maximum weight (1,000) for contractors and PPKs, confirming the importance of the administrative aspect. These findings confirm that the management of design changes, payment processes, and contract/licensing documentation is key to claims mitigation, with bank guarantees and insurance acting as additional financial protection instruments.

Abstract

In the context of building earthquake-resistant houses, the use of ferrosement technology can be an effective solution to face unique environmental challenges. The sustainability, strength, and earthquake resistance provided by ferrosement make it an attractive option in an effort to improve the quality and safety of buildings in areas prone to earthquakes. This study will use a comparative method to analyze the cost needs of building earthquake-resistant houses using Ferromen technology. The total cost of materials for ferrosemen houses with type 7 x 6 amounted to 69,783,571,131. The use of ferrrosemen technology in home construction offers significant cost efficiency potential compared to traditional construction methods. This is mainly because the raw materials used in fermenting, such as local soil and fiber, are generally more affordable and widely available. 2. Focus on Strength Ferrocement technology focuses strength on the foundation of the house which uses an inverted T foundation with woven concrete iron, which is much stronger than the river stone foundation. Although further research and local adaptation are still needed, the use of ferrrosement technology is promising as a more economical alternative in house construction. This can be a sustainable solution to improve access to affordable housing for people in various regions, especially in developing countries. However, it is important to consider factors such as soil conditions, climate, and availability of local resources in effectively implementing this technology.
