Abstract

The transformation of ordinal data into interval data is a crucial step in statistical analysis, particularly for achieving more accurate measurements and making data-driven decisions. The Method of Successive Interval (MSI) has been identified as an effective approach to accomplish this transformation. This literature review aims to explore recent studies on MSI, assess its effectiveness in converting ordinal data, and identify research gaps and future research opportunities. Using a literature review method, 15 peer-reviewed articles from 2020 to 2024 were analyzed. The findings indicate that MSI not only enhances measurement accuracy but also broadens the application of statistical analysis across various fields, including guidance and counseling. This contributes to improving the validity and reliability of the instruments used, thereby enabling the formulation of interventions tailored to students' needs.

Abstract

Guidance and counseling is a crucial component of the national education system that supports the achievement of educational goals. Philosophy plays a key role in shaping the scientific foundation and principles underlying the practice of guidance and counseling. This study aims to explore the role of philosophy in the development of guidance and counseling theory and practice, focusing on the contributions of ontology, epistemology, and axiology in enriching counselors' understanding of human nature, wise decision-making, and the application of ethical values in professional practice. Additionally, this study examines the relevance of Pancasila philosophy as the Indonesian philosophical system in shaping guidance and counseling services that align with the cultural and social values of Indonesian society. The method used in this research is a systematic literature review (Systematic Literature Review), aimed at collecting, evaluating, and analyzing findings from various studies related to the topic. This research involves gathering articles related to the philosophy of science in guidance and counseling and analyzing them to find insights that can enrich the practice of guidance and counseling in Indonesia. The results of the study indicate that philosophy plays a very important role in guiding the development and application of guidance and counseling, both in the context of multicultural societies and the digital era. Philosophy provides a foundational framework that helps counselors understand human characteristics, professional values, and the social and technological challenges faced in counseling practice. Particularly in the context of Indonesia, the application of Pancasila philosophy as a national philosophical framework offers a more relevant and contextually appropriate approach that ensures guidance and counseling services remain of high quality, relevant, and sustainable. This study affirms that understanding philosophy is not just an addition but an essential element in the sustainability and quality of guidance and counseling services.

Abstract

Many vocational high school students struggle to understand their self-concept, which affects their ability to adapt academically and socially. Purpose of this study aimed to develop and validate Fisball D’Brooks, a game-based guidance and counseling media grounded in William D. Brooks’ self-concept theory to support students with low self-concept. Methods of this study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design using the Borg & Gall model. The development involved expert validation (media and material experts), practitioner review, and field trials. Data were collected using feasibility checklists and student feedback. Results show The product achieved high feasibility scores from experts (usability = 93.75%, feasibility = 87.5%, accuracy = 95%, overall validity index = 92%, categorized as very valid). Students reported increased awareness of their strengths and weaknesses and showed higher engagement in guidance sessions. Conclusion of this study Fisball D’Brooks is a practical and valid media that supports guidance learning and helps students improve their understanding of self-concept
