Abstract

The material of tembang macapat is often considered challenging for students. Students are taught to learn cengkok ‘rhythm’, titilaras 'notation', laras 'musical scale', and pathet 'tonal harmony'. However, these demands are not balanced with the conditions in the classroom. This means that the teacher's skills in teaching the material of the word macapat and the ability of students to respond and practice the material delivered by the teacher are both lacking. This research uses Sugiyono's Level 1 Research and Development (R&D) approach. The discussion in this study includes potentials and problems, information collection, product design, design validation, and tested design, as well as the validation results by experts. Designs that material experts have validated are 3.75 and media experts are 3.74. So that if the two are totaled and averaged, the overall value is 3,745 with the number 4 as the maximum value. The design of the E-Srambahan application learning media was declared 'very good' and deserves to be continued to the advanced trial stage after going through a validation process from material experts and media experts. ABSTRAKMateri tembang macapat sering dianggap menantang bagi siswa. Siswa diajari untuk mempelajari cengkok ‘irama’, titilaras ‘notasi’, laras ‘tangga nada’, dan pathet ‘harmoni nada’. Akan tetapi, tuntutan tersebut kurang berimbang dengan kondisi di kelas. Artinya keterampilan guru dalam mengajarkan materi tembang macapat dan kemampuan siswa dalam merespon dan mempraktikkan materi yang disampaikan oleh guru sama-sama kurang. Pendekatan yang dipakai di dalam penelitian ini yakni Research and Development (R&D) Sugiyono level 1. Sesuai dengan pendekatan tersebut, pembahasan yang tersaji di dalam penelitian ini yaitu potensi dan masalah, pengumpulan informasi, desain produk, validasi desain, dan desain teruji, serta hasil validasi para ahli. Pemerolehan validasi dari ahli materi sejumlah 3.75 kemudian ahli media sejumlah 3.74. Sehingga apabila keduanya ditotal dan dirata-ratakan, pemerolehan nilai keseluruhannya menjadi 3.745 dengan angka 4 sebagai nilai maksimalnya. Desain media pembelajaran aplikasi E-Srambahan dinyatakan ‘sangat baik’ dan layak diteruskan ke tahap uji coba tingkat lanjut usai melewati proses validasi dari ahli materi serta ahli media.

Abstract

Kondisi pemahaman masyarakat Indonesia tentang kosakata tumbuhan herbal dewasa ini tampak mengkhawatirkan. Tentu ini sungguh disayangkan. Terlebih, eksistensi tumbuhan herbal di Indonesia begitu banyak jumlahnya. Penelitian ini membahas seputar penggunaan kosakata tumbuhan herbal yang terdapat pada rubrik Kasarasan majalah Panjebar Semangat (MPS) tahun 2024 melalui pendekatan ekolinguistik. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan bentuk dan kategori gramatikal serta kebertahanan kosakata tumbuhan herbal dalam MPS 2024. Kemudian penelitian ini menggunakan metode kombinasi dengan desain sekuensial eksploratori. Metode tersebut dalam penelitian ini digunakan untuk menganalisis kosakata tumbuhan herbal melalui teori morfologi serta untuk mengukur kebertahanan kosakata tersebut di kalangan pemuda suku Jawa usia 16—25 tahun dengan pengambilan data melalui kuisioner. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 20 kosakata tumbuhan herbal yang dikategorikan berdasarkan bentuk gramatikal dan kategori gramatikal. Adapun menurut pemahaman 210 responden tentang 20 kosakata tersebut, 55% atau sejumlah 11 masih dalam kondisi aman, 30% atau sejumlah 6 dalam kondisi terancam, dan 15% atau sejumlah 3 sudah berada pada kategori hilang.

Abstract

The connection between thuggery and power gives rise to a new face of politics laden with criminal hegemony. This concept is vividly depicted in the Javanese novel Lodan saka Segara Kidul (LSSK) by Kukuh S. Wibowo. Through a mystery-driven narrative, the novel exposes the transformation of Rahsana, a criminal gang leader, who changes his name to Hendarsa Prabancana and reinvents himself as a politician using slick yet effective hegemonic strategies. This research aims to reveal the representation of criminal hegemony in LSSK by Kukuh S. Wibowo through the lens of Gramsci’s theory, supported by other theories such as the normalization of crime, political oligarchy, self-image management, and more. The study employs a descriptive-qualitative method, emphasizing content analysis and literature review to examine novel narratives. This approach aims to identify forms of criminal hegemony, strategies for transitioning from crime to politics, and their societal impact. The findings demonstrate that Rahsana/Hendarsa utilizes wealth acquired through crime, money politics, and public image-building to gain legitimacy and maintain power. Hegemony does not manifest solely through physical domination but also through ideology that infiltrates social structures. These findings reflect how criminal practices can adapt within democratic systems and become part of legitimate political frameworks. This research contributes to enriching the study of Indonesian crime fiction while opening a critical discourse on the relationship between crime, politics, and the legitimization of power.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The short film Grusah-Grusuh presents various social interactions rich in implied meanings, making the analysis of illocutionary speech acts essential to understanding the intent and function of the communication that takes place within it. This study aims to examine the forms and functions of illocutionary acts in the Javanese-language short film Grusah-Grusuh. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, utilizing observation and note-taking methods to collect utterances from the characters. The data were analyzed using a pragmatic identity method based on Searle’s classification of illocutionary types and Leech’s functional framework. The findings reveal five types of illocutionary acts: representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. Representative acts dominate with 53%, followed by directives (27%), while commissive, expressive, and declarative acts each account for 3%, 9%, and 9%, respectively. In terms of function, collaborative acts are the most prevalent (64%), followed by competitive (23%) and convivial (13%) functions. These results indicate that communication in Grusah-Grusuh reflects Javanese cultural values prioritizing information clarity, social harmony, and politeness. The study concludes that analyzing illocutionary acts in local short films enriches contextual pragmatic studies and supports cultural preservation through audiovisual media. The implications of this research are expected to broaden understanding of the interrelationship between linguistic practices, cultural values, and social dynamics in Javanese communication. ABSTRAK Film pendek Grusah-Grusuh menyajikan beragam interaksi sosial yang kaya akan makna tersirat, sehingga analisis tindak tutur ilokusi sangat penting untuk memahami maksud dan fungsi komunikasi yang terjadi di dalamnya.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bentuk dan fungsi tindak tutur ilokusi dalam film pendek berbahasa Jawa berjudul Grusah-Grusuh. Pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif digunakan, dengan menggunakan metode observasi dan pencatatan untuk mengumpulkan ujaran-ujaran dari para karakter. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode identitas pragmatis berdasarkan klasifikasi tipe ilokusi Searle dan kerangka kerja fungsional Leech. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan lima jenis tindak tutur ilokusi: representatif, direktif, komisif, ekspresif, dan deklaratif. Tindak representatif mendominasi dengan 53%, diikuti oleh tindak direktif (27%), sementara tindak komisif, ekspresif, dan deklaratif masing-masing menyumbang 3%, 9%, dan 9%. Dari segi fungsi, tindak kolaboratif adalah yang paling banyak ditemukan (64%), diikuti oleh fungsi kompetitif (23%) dan konvivial (13%). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi dalam Grusah-Grusuh mencerminkan nilai-nilai budaya Jawa yang mengutamakan kejelasan informasi, keharmonisan sosial, dan kesantunan. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa menganalisis tindak tutur ilokusi dalam film pendek lokal memperkaya kajian pragmatik kontekstual dan mendukung pelestarian budaya melalui media audiovisual. Implikasi dari penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memperluas pemahaman tentang keterkaitan antara praktik-praktik kebahasaan, nilai-nilai budaya, dan dinamika sosial dalam komunikasi masyarakat Jawa.

Abstract

Conventional implicature in persuasive speech acts serves as an effective linguistic mechanism for delivering moral messages and noble values in a refined manner, as exemplified in the Javanese religious song Syi'ir Tanpa Waton. This study aims to examine nine selected data units from a total of thirteen stanzas in the song’s lyrics, which serve as the primary data. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, with data collected through documentation and textual analysis of the lyrics. The analysis draws on Grice’s theory of implicature and Searle’s speech act theory, focusing on the illocutionary dimension of the speech acts. The findings indicate that the persuasive speech acts identified in the lyrics consist of prohibitions, indirect criticisms, exhortations, and declarative expressions, all of which are imbued with deep spiritual meaning. These speech acts reflect conventional implicature through specific lexical and grammatical markers in Javanese, which encode implied messages independent of conversational context. The study demonstrates significant relevance to Javanese language learning at the senior high school level, particularly in the area of literary text instruction, where students are encouraged to interpret implicit meaning and internalize local wisdom. Implementation in classroom settings may enhance students' interpretative skills while simultaneously reinforcing cultural identity. In addition to enriching pragmatic-semantic analysis of contemporary Javanese texts, this research offers a pedagogical model that integrates culturally rooted literary works into meaningful and engaging language instruction for younger generations.

Abstract

Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are critical for 21st-century learners, yet their development is often hindered by rote-based instructional practices, especially in Javanese language subject. This study aimed to improve the HOTS of 10th-grade students through the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) in wayang text instruction. Conducted as Classroom Action Research (CAR) at SMAN 13 Surabaya, the study involved 36 students from class X-2 over two action cycles. Each cycle followed Kemmis and McTaggart’s model: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation, interviews, HOTS-based written tests, and project documentation. Results revealed a significant improvement in students’ HOTS, with post-test scores increasing from an average of 64.7 to 68.4, and the percentage of students reaching the minimum mastery level rising from 32% to 47%. Students also exhibited more active participation, stronger analytical skills, and enhanced creativity in completing their projects. The PjBL model enabled students to critically engage with wayang texts, connect them to real-life contexts, and strengthen Javanese cultural literacy. These findings affirm the relevance and effectiveness of PjBL in enhancing HOTS, supporting the goals of the Merdeka Curriculum.
