Abstract

This study examines the management and implementation of a research-based curriculum to understand how Islamic education can integrate contemporary scientific knowledge with traditional religious teachings. Using a qualitative approach, case study design at Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Zainul Hasan Balung, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The validity of the findings used triangulation techniques, and data analysis followed the three steps of data reduction, presentation, and conclusion/verification. The study findings indicate that the curriculum was developed through a comprehensive planning process, including needs assessment and stakeholder collaboration to align with madrasah education's vision, mission, and goals. Its implementation involved structured research activities by forming Youth Scientific Groups (KIR) and Innovative Product Groups, which provided students with hands-on experience in scientific research and inquiry. This approach effectively fostered critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills among students. Teachers received ongoing training to guide students' research activities, ensuring effective curriculum delivery. The study also identified challenges, such as the need for adequate teacher preparation and appropriate learning materials, which were addressed through training programs and the development of research pocketbooks. The evaluation process used authentic assessments, such as portfolios and research proposals, to ensure continuous improvement and adaptation of the curriculum. Research-based curriculum management at MTs Zainul Hasan Balung shows that integrating research-oriented learning can improve Islamic education and prepare students for modern challenges while maintaining Islamic values. These findings provide valuable insights for Islamic educational institutions that want to implement research-based curricula effectively.

Abstract

The government's effort to produce high-quality and competent human resources is closely tied to the role of professional teachers. In this study, the researcher aims to examine the differences in professional competence between certified and non-certified teachers, formulated as follows: (1) whether there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in subject mastery related to professional competence; (2) whether there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in the teaching process related to professional competence; (3) whether there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in interpersonal relationships related to professional competence; (4) whether there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in classroom-based assessment related to professional competence. This research was conducted at Madrasah Aliyah Islamic Boarding School in Kaliwates-Jember. Data analysis reveals that: (1) there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in subject mastery; (2) there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in the teaching process; (3) there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in interpersonal relationships; (4) there is a significant difference between certified and non-certified teachers in classroom-based assessment. Upaya pemerintah yang berorientasi pada menghasilkan sumber daya manusia yang berkualitas dan kompeten tidak lepas dari peran guru profesional. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti tertarik untuk mengetahui perbedaan kompetensi profesional antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi, yang kemudian dirumuskan sebagai berikut: (1) apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam penguasaan materi terhadap kompetensi profesional; (2) apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam proses pembelajaran terhadap kompetensi profesional; (3) apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam hubungan interpersonal terhadap kompetensi profesional; (4) apakah terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam penilaian berbasis kelas terhadap kompetensi profesional. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Pesantren Kaliwates-Jember. Analisis data menunjukkan bahwa: (1) terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam penguasaan materi; (2) terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam proses pembelajaran; (3) terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam hubungan interpersonal; (4) terdapat perbedaan signifikan antara guru yang telah tersertifikasi dan yang belum tersertifikasi dalam penilaian berbasis kelas.

Abstract

The government's efforts to produce qualified and competent human resources are inseparable from the role of professional teachers. The government's commitment to accelerating the improvement of teacher quality is through competency standards and teacher certification. Certification facilitates overcoming obstacles to achieving goals, rather than being the goal itself. Certified teachers aim not merely to receive incentives/professional allowances but to demonstrate their competence as a standard requirement; the allowance is a logical consequence of their proven ability—competence correlates directly with reward. This research was conducted at Islamic Senior High Schools in the Kaliwates sub-district, Jember Regency, using a quantitative approach and comparative study design. Data collection methods included questionnaires and checklists, with statistical analysis employing t-tests and hypothesis testing by comparing t-count and t-table. The results concluded significant differences between certified and non-certified teachers in material mastery, teaching processes, interpersonal relationships, and classroom-based assessment. Upaya pemerintah yang berorientasi menghasilkan sumber daya manusia berkualitas dan kompeten tidak lepas dari kiprah seorang guru yang profesional. Komitmen pemerintah dalam rangka percepatan peningkatan kualitas tenaga kependidikan (guru) adalah melakukan standar kompetensi dan sertifikasi guru. Sertifikasi dapat memfasilitasi permasalahan-permasalahan yang dapat menjadi kendala untuk mencapai suatu tujuan, bukan tujuan itu sendiri. Guru yang sudah mengikuti sertifikasi, sejatinya bukan untuk mendapatkan insentif belaka/tunjangan profesi, melainkan untuk dapat menunjukkan bahwa yang bersangkutan telah memiliki kompetensi sebagai syarat standar kompetensi guru; tunjangan profesi adalah konsekuensi logis yang menyertai adanya kemampuan yang dimaksud, dengan kata lain kompetensi berbanding lurus dengan reward. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Madrasah Aliyah Pondok Pesantren di wilayah kecamatan Kaliwates Kabupaten Jember. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan jenis penelitian komparasi. Adapun metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah kuesioner dan checklist. Analisis statistik menggunakan Uji t dan uji hipotesis dengan membandingkan t hitung dengan t tabel. Dari hasil analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan bagi guru yang sudah sertifikasi dan guru yang belum mengikuti sertifikasi baik dalam penguasaan materi, proses pembelajaran, hubungan interpersonal, dan penilaian berbasis kelas.
