Abstract

Improving the quality of education is closely linked to the development of teacher competence and professionalism, especially in facing the challenges of the digital era. This study aims to explore the implementation of a performance appraisal system and a continuous professional development (CPD) program at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Maslakul Huda Lamongan as a strategy to enhance teacher competence. A qualitative approach was employed, using data collection techniques such as observation, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Method triangulation was applied to ensure data validity. The results indicate that the performance appraisal system at MI Maslakul Huda is systematically designed, focusing on four core competencies: pedagogical, personal, social, and professional. This appraisal motivates teachers to enhance their capacity, particularly in the use of technology. The CPD program includes training, both internal and external supervision, and dissemination of training outcomes. The school has provided digital infrastructure and technology training, including artificial intelligence (AI). However, challenges such as digital competence gaps remain. Institutional support through continuous supervision and incentives has proven effective in encouraging teachers. The study concludes that a combination of targeted performance appraisal and relevant CPD is an effective strategy to improve teaching quality in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of strategic public relations management in enhancing institutional positioning and competitive advantage in higher education. Employing a qualitative approach with a multi-case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving institutional leaders, public relations practitioners, academics, students, and alumni. The findings indicate that strategic public relations serves as a foundational mechanism for institutional positioning through public needs analysis, identity strengthening, and integrated communication strategies. Furthermore, integrated communication encompassing media relations, digital branding, academic publications, and stakeholder engagement plays a critical role in shaping institutional image and reputation through message consistency. Strategic public relations also contributes significantly to competitive advantage by fostering public trust, increasing institutional visibility, and strengthening differentiation. The study implies that strategic public relations functions as a dynamic capability that links internal institutional quality with external public perception, transforming communication into strategic value. These findings offer theoretical contributions by integrating public relations, positioning, reputation, and competitive advantage into a unified framework, while practically providing guidance for higher education institutions in designing effective strategic communication to enhance competitiveness in a dynamic environment.

Using a qualitative case study methodology, the research employs data collection methods such as observations, interviews, and document analysis. Key informants include school administrators, teachers, students, parents, and school committee members, providing a comprehensive view of the program’s impact. The findings reveal that the SRA program has effectively created a supportive environment for character building, with significant contributions from the school’s discipline policies and the involvement of all stakeholders. The program has led to improvements in student behavior, including increased discipline, responsibility, and respect for religious values. This research highlights the importance of integrating character education with religious teachings and demonstrates how collaborative efforts among educators, parents, and the community can foster a well-rounded educational environment. The findings have broader implications for the development of similar programs in other educational contexts, particularly in promoting moral and spiritual growth among students.

Abstract

This research uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The research subjects consist of teachers and eighth-grade students at SMP Al-Izzah IIBS Batu Malang. Data collection techniques were carried out thru observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses an interactive model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The validity of the data is tested thru source triangulation and technique triangulation. The research results show that the use of Quizizz Paper Mode is carried out thru the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation of learning. In the planning stage, teachers prepare Quizizz accounts, create questions, and prepare barcodes used by students to answer questions. In the implementation stage, students participate in learning evaluations using barcodes scanned thru the Quizizz application. Supporting factors for the implementation of Quizizz Paper Mode include the availability of learning devices, internet access, network stability, and the practical use of barcodes that can be reused. The inhibiting factor found is the instability of the internet network, which sometimes disrupts the evaluation process. The use of Quizizz Paper Mode has a positive impact on students' learning motivation, as evidenced by the increased enthusiasm, activity, participation, and engagement of students in the learning process. In addition, the learning atmosphere becomes more interactive, enjoyable, and not monotonous. Thus, Quizizz Paper Mode can serve as an effective alternative technology-based evaluation media in enhancing the learning motivation of Islamic Religious Education among eighth-grade students at SMP Al-Izzah IIBS Batu Malang.
