Abstract

At the age of 4-5 years, children are at a critical phase where they begin to develop basic language skills. Good language skills not only contribute to effective communication, but also support children's cognitive and social-emotional development. Therefore, interesting and innovative learning media is needed to support the development of children's language intelligence. Language is interpreted as a form of communication, whether carried out in writing, signs or orally, which is based on a method consisting of a number of symbols (Harding-Esch & Riley, 2003). One of a number of types of learning media that has the potential to increase language intelligence is the big scrapbook. This media can present various information in a creative and interactive way, allowing children to play an active role during the learning process. Big scrapbooks can combine pictures, text and fun activities, so that children are more motivated to learn and communicate (Ningrum & Widodo, 2018).
