Abstract

Kesum plants have demonstrated robust antioxidant activity and possess the potential to function as antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal, anticancer, and antiulcer agents. Further research is necessary to investigate the activity and toxicity of kesum stem preparations. The objective of this study is twofold: first, to ascertain the antioxidant activity of an ethanol extract of kesum stem; and second, to determine the level of acute toxicity in the kidneys of Wistar rats. The extraction process was conducted using the maceration method, employing 70% ethanol as the solvent. The antioxidant activity test demonstrated that the ethanol extract of kesum stem exhibited an IC50 value of 72.03 ppm, thereby classifying it as a strong antioxidant. The acute toxicity test demonstrated that the ethanol extract of kesum stem (Phyllanthus emblica) at doses of 500 mg/kg, 1000 mg/kg, and 2000 mg/kg did not induce toxic effects on the kidneys. This finding was substantiated by the observation that the levels of ureum and creatinine remained within the normal range. The findings of this study, derived from statistical analysis employing the analysis of variance (ANOVA) method, indicated a p-value of 0.632 (p > 0.05) for serum urea examination and 0.06 (p > 0.05) for serum creatinine examination. These findings suggest that there is no statistically significant difference between the treatment groups. The safety of all three doses has been demonstrated by the absence of toxicity effects on rat kidney organs.

Abstract

A variety of disorders affecting the heart and blood arteries are together referred to as heart disease. These disorders may impair the heart's capacity to pump blood efficiently and may result in major health issues. This smartphone software assists people with heart problems in following their exercise regimens, receiving medication alerts, and maintaining their medical data. Due of its open source nature and ease of use, an Android-based platform was selected. Physicians utilize cellphones as their main source of medical knowledge and education, as well as for information management tools. Mobile phones, however, can also serve as a platform for initiatives aimed at raising the standard of healthcare. This research aims to utilize technology as health monitoring for heart disease in the community, such as reminders to take medication or access to information (with supporting health examination records and medical diagnoses), and it contains reading articles that provide public knowledge about the importance of maintaining heart health and can improve healthy lifestyles. Methods observational study of 20 heart disease patients at the media farma clinic samarinda with the length of research conducted from application development to application trials takes about April-August 2024. This android mobile-based application uses React Native technology, PHP and Mysql. The result show in the an application with features that have been tested by heart patients with a survey that has been tested for validity. The reliability test was indicated by Cronbach’s alpa 0.938> 0.532 which indicates that the instrument is realiable then the ability to use the application is obtained with the results (80%) and the benefits that make it easier for respondents to monitor heart health are obtained (90%). Conclusion this research has successfully created an android-based heart disease health application that can be used by patients or patient companions as a management and accessibility of their health data. With proper integration, this application can be a very useful tool in improving the quality of life and health of users.

Abstract

Inflammation is the body's defense response to various stimuli. Sambal orange (Citrus microcarpa Bunge) belongs to the Rutaceae family and is widely cultivated in West Kalimantan. This study uses the erythrocyte membrane stabilization method to test the secondary metabolite content, antioxidant activity, and anti-inflammatory activity of ethanol extracts of sambal orange peel. Antioxidant activity was assessed using the DPPH method, while anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated through erythrocyte membrane stabilization. The results showed that the extract had an antioxidant IC50 value of 17.90 ppm, which is very strong. Membrane stability at concentrations of 50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 ppm showed increases of 32.20%, 38.39%, 47.37%, 55.18%, and 65.52%, respectively. The % stability values of sodium diclofenac at the same concentrations were 50.10%, 58.40%, 66.69%, 78.59%, and 87.70%, respectively. The one-way ANOVA test showed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant difference between treatments. The Tukey post-hoc test showed no significant difference between the 250 ppm extract concentration and the 150 ppm sodium diclofenac concentration. The IC50 value for the extract's anti-inflammatory activity was 163.55 ppm (moderate activity), while sodium diclofenac exhibited stronger activity with an IC50 value of 54.09 ppm.

Abstract

AbstractDiagnosis of TB (tuberculosis) by health workers is an important key in finding new TB patients. The general diagnosis used in TK 1 Health Facilities (Faskes) is carried out by revealing a patient's sputum specimen using the Ziehl-Neelsen method to detect the presence of acid-fast bacteria such as Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes TB. However, in practice, manual calculations with a limited field of view on a microscope require a fairly long processing time. During the covid19 pandemic, the efficiency of daily diagnostic work including BTA examinations must be increased due to the limited ATLM personnel in the field who are also working to deal with Covid19. So in this research, an automated image analysis application will be proposed that can count the number of bacteria that appear on a microscope. The process of making smears of AFB obtained 3 preparations which produced a total of 171 images of image data. Noise in the image can be overcome using the gaussian blur filter and the CLAHE method to improve contrast. The method for digital image processing is the HCA (Hiearcical Cluster Analysis) segmentation method to separate BTA objects from the background. Pre-processed segmentation results using morphological operations that work well on binary images to simplify the calculation of the number of bacteria. The HCA method combined with the object selection strategy can segment BTA objects well. The evaluation results show an RMSE (Root Mean Squere Error) of 2,484 obtained at the 0.11 . threshold
