Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic brings the threat of a global food crisis. Indonesia's food system is vulnerable because it only depends on one type of food, namely rice. Hopes about Indonesia's food security have returned to the potential for local food diversity, as well as moving from food security to food sovereignty. This study will focus on the process of developing local food in Indonesia which is considered a way out of the threat of a global food crisis due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The purpose of this study is to find out a general description of the condition of local food in Indonesia so far. The method used in this research is desk research using a political-economic approach in the context of neoliberalism. The results of this study indicate that Indonesia is "half-heartedly" in developing local food as a result of its position between the dichotomy of food sovereignty versus global trade liberalization.

Abstract

Stunting adalah masalah kesehatan yang serius di Indonesia, terutama di daerah pedesaan, yang disebabkan oleh kekurangan gizi dan berdampak pada pertumbuhan fisik serta perkembangan otak anak. Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa stunting dapat dikenali melalui pengukuran tinggi badan anak yang berada di bawah -2 standar deviasi dari median WHO. Program pengabdian masyarakat yang dilaksanakan oleh mahasiswa KKN Universitas Pancasakti Makassar di Desa Maero, Kecamatan Bontoramba, Kabupaten Jeneponto, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman masyarakat mengenai pencegahan stunting. Kegiatan ini mencakup sosialisasi, edukasi langsung, dan distribusi brosur mengenai pentingnya gizi seimbang, pemberian ASI eksklusif, serta pemantauan tumbuh kembang anak. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat dan implementasi informasi yang diperoleh dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Selain itu, pengukuran tinggi badan juga dilakukan untuk mendeteksi stunting sejak dini. Meskipun terdapat kendala seperti keterbatasan waktu dan sumber daya, kegiatan ini berhasil mencapai tujuan yakni dapat terlaksana dan partisipasi masyarakat untuk ikut dalam kegiatan ini pencegahan stunting. Diharapkan program serupa dapat dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan dengan memperkuat koordinasi dan memperluas partisipasi masyarakat guna memberikan dampak yang lebih luas dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis peran transformatif media sosial dalam mengkonstruksi opini publik terkait kebijakan pemerintah di Indonesia selama periode April hingga Agustus 2025. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, analisis wacana kritis, dan analisis sentimen terhadap data media sosial, studi ini mengidentifikasi bagaimana platform digital telah menjadi arena utama pembentukan dan mobilisasi opini publik. Temuan menunjukkan adanya disonansi antara agenda pemerintah dan wacana publik di media sosial, yang didominasi oleh isu-isu reaktif dan kontroversial seperti protes #IndonesiaGelap dan Revisi UU TNI. Putusan Mahkamah Konstitusi terkait UU ITE juga menunjukkan dampak langsung pada kebebasan berekspresi, berpotensi mengurangi efek spiral keheningan. Selain itu, media sosial berfungsi sebagai mekanisme kontrol sosial yang efektif dalam kasus korupsi, namun juga memunculkan risiko "viral based policy" yang dapat mengganggu stabilitas. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa media sosial adalah kekuatan transformatif yang menuntut strategi komunikasi pemerintah yang lebih transparan dan responsif, serta literasi digital yang kuat di kalangan masyarakat.

Abstract

This article aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the contemporary food system within its totality. Using a qualitative approach through literature review, the analysis is primarily grounded in Karl Marx’s Capital: A Critique of Political Economy (Volume I) and Eric Holt-Giménez’s A Foodie’s Guide to Capitalism. The discussion focuses on the moment of food production, where food transforms from a mere object of subsistence into a commodity. This transformation constitutes the fundamental basis of the modern food system. The argument is constructed through a causal analytical framework, beginning with the fundamental question of how food is produced, and situating capitalism as the overarching social structure that conditions the entire process. The findings indicate that the capitalist mode of production organizes food production not for direct consumption, but for capital accumulation, resulting in structural contradictions such as hunger amidst abundance. Furthermore, the absence of capitalism as a central analytical variable in contemporary food discourse leads to fragmented and depoliticized food movements that fail to address root causes. This study concludes that a critical understanding of capitalism is an essential prerequisite for any attempt to create a healthy, equitable, and sustainable food system. Without such a perspective, efforts to reform the food system will remain superficial and ineffective in resolving its structural problems.
