Abstract

Education about ecosystems and environmental balance at the elementary school level plays a crucial role in fostering awareness and environmental care attitudes from an early age. This article examines the effectiveness of ecosystem learning through contextual and project-based learning approaches to enhance students’ understanding and awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental balance. The research method used is a literature study with a qualitative descriptive approach, where data were obtained from various recent journals and books discussing environmental education and conservation in elementary schools. The findings show that learning activities involving direct engagement such as environmental observation, planting, and waste management can strengthen conceptual understanding while building students’ environmental care character. Additionally, the teacher’s role as a facilitator is vital to the success of the learning process. Despite various challenges in implementing environmental education, integrating ecosystem content with character education provides a strong foundation for developing a young generation that is environmentally conscious and responsible for environmental preservation. These findings emphasize the importance of systematically and sustainably implementing ecosystem learning in the elementary school curriculum as a strategic effort towards environmental sustainability.

Abstract

Air pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues with significant impacts on human health. This study aims to examine the relationship between air pollution levels and human health disorders, as well as to identify effective mitigation solutions. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through literature reviews from various journals, WHO reports, and other official sources. The analysis shows that exposure to air pollutants, particularly fine particulate matter (PM2.5), carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and ozone, can trigger respiratory, cardiovascular, and mental health disorders, and adversely affect children and pregnancies. These impacts are both short-term and long-term, including increased premature mortality and reduced quality of life. To minimize these effects, strategic solutions are needed, such as strengthening emission regulations, promoting eco-friendly transportation, using air purifiers, developing green open spaces, and providing public education. This study emphasizes the importance of collaboration between the government, society, and the private sector in creating clean air and a sustainably healthy environment.

Abstract

The advancement of digital technology has transformed classroom learning practices. Digital learning materials provide an innovative approach to fostering more engaging and interactive learning environments. Student activeness and participation are key indicators of effective learning; however, traditional instructional methods are still widely used in elementary schools, often limiting student engagement. This study examines the relationship between the use of digital learning materials and student activeness and participation at SD Binekas using a quantitative descriptive correlational approach. Upper-grade elementary students were selected as research participants. Data were collected through structured observations, student participation instruments, and documentation, and analyzed using statistical techniques. The results demonstrate that digital learning materials have a positive and significant effect on student activeness and participation. Students showed higher levels of attention, interaction, and involvement during classroom activities. These findings highlight the potential of digital learning materials to support active and participatory learning in elementary education.
