Abstract

This study aims to explore communication styles and public engagement levels in mental health-related content on the TikTok platform. The growing openness in discussing mental health issues on social media reflects a shift in how society perceives and responds to topics once considered taboo. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research combines content analysis of popular TikTok videos tagged with #mentalhealth and an online survey to assess user perceptions and content representation. The findings reveal that most content employs a casual tone with emotional and motivational delivery. Visuals tend to be minimalistic but support a reflective narrative atmosphere, often accompanied by melancholic background music. Content creators include both professional psychologists and individuals sharing personal experiences. Public engagement is notably high, as indicated by significant numbers of likes, comments, and shares, with predominantly positive and empathetic responses. These results affirm that TikTok serves not only as a space for entertainment but also as an effective medium for mental health communication—provided it is supported by adequate media literacy to prevent misinformation. The study recommends fostering collaboration between mental health professionals and content creators to build a healthier and more educational digital ecosystem.

Abstract

Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) remain a major obstacle to achieving an optimal quality of life, especially in terms of self-disclosure and access to social support. In the midst of the rapid development of digital technology, social media has emerged as a potential online space that can be utilized by PLWHA to express their identity and build social support networks. This study aims to analyze the role of social media in supporting the self-disclosure of PLWHA and its contribution in forming a supportive online community. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive analysis approach that examines various academic studies from the last 5 years published from 2019 to 2024 through databases such as PubMed, JMIR, Springer, PMC and Google Scholar. The results show that social media provides a safe space for PLWHA to manage their identity narratives, increase self-confidence, and obtain validation and emotional support from online communities. However, the dilemma between the need for openness and the risk of stigma and invasion of privacy remains a significant challenge. This study recommends that future research emphasize qualitative exploration of PLHIV's direct experiences, as well as the development of inclusive and safe digital platform policies and designs to support the sustainability of empowering self-disclosure.

Abstract

This study analyse the implementation of instructional communication by lecturers and its impact on student satisfaction levels in the D4 Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition (MICE) Study Programme at the Medan State Polytechnic. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through a closed-ended questionnaire. Instructional communication plays a crucial role in developing communicators' skills to understand the ongoing learning situation and adapt teaching strategies to meet students' needs as learners.  The research results indicate that instructional communication plays a very important role in enhancing student satisfaction with the quality of the learning process. Effective communication between lecturers and students, characterised by clear information delivery, the use of varied teaching methods, and the provision of constructive feedback, significantly contributes to increased student engagement and satisfaction during lectures. Some of the main challenges faced include instructors' difficulties in adapting teaching materials to the diverse backgrounds and abilities of students, as well as limited access to relevant and up-to-date reference sources in the field of MICE. These factors have the potential to reduce teaching effectiveness and, in turn, negatively impact student satisfaction if not addressed strategically.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of internal communication strategies on employee engagement and to identify the most effective communication approaches in enhancing employee involvement. The research employed a literature review method by examining journal articles, conference proceedings, and academic books published between 2019 and 2025. Literature sources were obtained from Google Scholar, Scopus, ResearchGate, and DOAJ, and were selected based on topic relevance, full-text availability, and alignment with the research focus. Data were analyzed using content analysis through thematic categorization. The findings indicate that internal communication strategies have a significant impact on employee engagement across three dimensions: cognitive, emotional, and behavioral. Three strategies were found to be the most effective: (1) digital channel–based communication that improves information access and accelerates feedback, (2) leadership-based communication that strengthens trust and emotional support, and (3) participatory two-way communication that fosters a sense of belonging and psychological ownership. Engagement formation occurs through role clarity, reinforced trust, and increased participation. In conclusion, internal communication serves as an organizational strategy that enhances employee motivation, loyalty, and contribution. Organizations must design communication patterns that are transparent, interactive, and participatory to optimize engagement.
