Abstract

Stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) remain a major obstacle to achieving an optimal quality of life, especially in terms of self-disclosure and access to social support. In the midst of the rapid development of digital technology, social media has emerged as a potential online space that can be utilized by PLWHA to express their identity and build social support networks. This study aims to analyze the role of social media in supporting the self-disclosure of PLWHA and its contribution in forming a supportive online community. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive analysis approach that examines various academic studies from the last 5 years published from 2019 to 2024 through databases such as PubMed, JMIR, Springer, PMC and Google Scholar. The results show that social media provides a safe space for PLWHA to manage their identity narratives, increase self-confidence, and obtain validation and emotional support from online communities. However, the dilemma between the need for openness and the risk of stigma and invasion of privacy remains a significant challenge. This study recommends that future research emphasize qualitative exploration of PLHIV's direct experiences, as well as the development of inclusive and safe digital platform policies and designs to support the sustainability of empowering self-disclosure.

Abstract

As time progresses, women play an increasingly important role in improving the quality of both public and domestic sectors. Generally, gender issues that become the main topic of discussion revolve around the status and position of women in society, which are still often viewed as subordinate or marginal. The significant rise in the number of female practitioners in the public relations (PR) industry has led to the perception that women have experienced gender discrimination in Indonesia. This journal aims to analyze and examine gender perspectives on women in the field of public relations, the impact of the feminization of the PR profession, as well as the challenges faced by women in carrying out their roles as public relations practitioners. The results of this literature study indicate that male practitioners are more likely to hold managerial positions than female practitioners. Although the number of female practitioners has exceeded that of males, their status and roles in PR practice remain subordinate to men. Furthermore, there are relevant glass ceiling barriers, including an unequal distribution of tasks, which prevent women from fully demonstrating their potential in the workplace.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigates differences in purchasing decisions for halal-certified chicken between Muslim consumers in Indonesia and Taiwan. It explores the socio-cultural, institutional, psychological, and economic factors shaping consumer choices, while assessing the role of halal literacy and certification. Methods: A qualitative comparative design was applied, using semi-structured interviews with Muslim consumers in both countries. Purposive sampling was conducted in Indonesia, while snowball sampling was employed in Taiwan due to the smaller and dispersed Muslim population. Data were analyzed thematically with NVivo and ATLAS.ti, supported by secondary sources such as halal regulations and community initiatives. Results: Findings reveal that Indonesian consumers often rely on trust-based relationships with Muslim vendors and assume halalness as a cultural default, reducing the urgency of certification. In contrast, Taiwanese consumers emphasize halal logos and certification bodies as primary assurances of Sharia compliance and food safety. Affordability and social familiarity drive Indonesian preferences, while availability, institutional trust, and diaspora support dominate in Taiwan. Implications: The study highlights that halal consumption is influenced not only by religious obligations but also by broader socio-cultural and institutional contexts. Results underscore the need for stronger halal assurance for fresh products in Indonesia and wider distribution of halal-certified foods in Taiwan, offering insights for policymakers and future research on Muslim consumer behavior across different settings.

Abstract

This study analyse the implementation of instructional communication by lecturers and its impact on student satisfaction levels in the D4 Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition (MICE) Study Programme at the Medan State Polytechnic. This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, with data collected through a closed-ended questionnaire. Instructional communication plays a crucial role in developing communicators' skills to understand the ongoing learning situation and adapt teaching strategies to meet students' needs as learners.  The research results indicate that instructional communication plays a very important role in enhancing student satisfaction with the quality of the learning process. Effective communication between lecturers and students, characterised by clear information delivery, the use of varied teaching methods, and the provision of constructive feedback, significantly contributes to increased student engagement and satisfaction during lectures. Some of the main challenges faced include instructors' difficulties in adapting teaching materials to the diverse backgrounds and abilities of students, as well as limited access to relevant and up-to-date reference sources in the field of MICE. These factors have the potential to reduce teaching effectiveness and, in turn, negatively impact student satisfaction if not addressed strategically.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of price and product quality on consumer purchasing decisions for Zara brand clothing in Medan in 2024. The rapid development of the fashion industry in Indonesia and the increasing presence of global fast-fashion brands such as Zara have made it important to understand how local consumers evaluate their choices. Employing a quantitative research design, the study used a purposive sampling technique with 100 respondents who had previously purchased Zara products in Medan. Primary data were gathered through structured questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS. The analysis revealed that both price and product quality exert a positive and significant effect on consumer purchasing decisions. While price remains a critical consideration, product quality emerged as the dominant factor influencing satisfaction, loyalty, and repurchase intention. These findings underscore the importance for Zara’s management to maintain a consistent balance between competitive pricing and high-quality standards. Strategically aligning price fairness with superior product quality is expected to strengthen consumer trust, increase purchase frequency, and enhance Zara’s competitiveness in the Medan fashion market.

Abstract

The current research focuses on the effectiveness of the implementation of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to improve service quality in Sis Collection, a cosmetics retailer located in the city of JCity Medan Johor, during the year 2025. The study follows a descriptive quantitative design, and data are gathered using a structured questionnaire that was given to five employees in the store. The domain of the study is to determine whether SOPs lead to efficiency, consistency, and customer satisfaction in day-to-day service delivery. The empirical evidence has shown that most of the employees view SOPs as useful in providing faster and more organized services, especially when dealing with customer complaints. Employees reported that SOPs minimize mistakes, provide a more orderly workflow and build confidence in working with customers. Nevertheless, there are still difficulties, since not all staff members said they were properly exposed to SOPs, and procedures were not actively communicated and enforced in a consistent way. Such gaps highlight the significance of ongoing training and regular distribution of SOP guidelines to maintain consistency in their usage throughout the organization. Overall, the findings suggest that SOPs have significant potential to improve the quality of service; however, their performance depends on their regular use and continued organizational investment in employees.
