Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of transformative learning management in building students’ critical awareness in secondary education environments. The transformative approach is considered capable of creating a learning space that not only focuses on mastering the material but also on changing students’ way of thinking about the social reality around them. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach in one secondary school that implements a transformative learning model. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of curriculum documents and lesson plan implementation. The results of the study indicate that learning strategies that integrate reflective discussions, contextual issue analysis, and active student empowerment can improve critical thinking skills, social empathy, and student participation in local community issues. The implications of these findings underscore the importance of teacher training in a critical pedagogical approach, as well as the need for school policy support in adopting a more humanistic and participatory curriculum. This study recommends the development of a structured transformative learning management model to improve the quality of meaningful learning.

Abstract

This study examines the transformation of Kyai leadership within the pesantren tradition amid the rising influence of digital media, using the controversy surrounding Trans7’s Xpose Uncensored episode on Pesantren Lirboyo as a critical case. this research analyzes how Kyai leadership is constructed, contested, and recontextualized in the era of viral media. Findings reveal four key transformations. First, despite media pressure, Kyai authority in Lirboyo remains anchored in charismatic moral–spiritual leadership while adapting to media logic through ethical and calm communicative strategies, consistent with Hjarvard’s (2008) theory of the mediatization of religion. Overall, this study demonstrates that the leadership of Kyai in the digital era is simultaneously charismatic, adaptive, and dialogical, reflecting a harmonious integration of pesantren tradition with contemporary media culture. The Lirboyo case serves as evidence that religious authority in Indonesia is undergoing significant transformation, not through erosion, but through strategic negotiation within the logic of viral digital communication

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' digital literacy practices, the role of teachers in integrating digital literacy into learning, and the pedagogical construction of a synthesis between digital literacy and religious moderation values in madrasas. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at SMAN 01 Tiris Probolinggo. Data collection techniques were carried out through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis used an interactive model that includes data condensation, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity tests through triangulation of sources, techniques, and member checking. The results of the study show three main findings. First, students' digital literacy practices contribute to shaping their understanding of religious moderation through the ability to access, select, and critically evaluate religious information. Second, teachers have a strategic role as facilitators and epistemological filters in integrating digital literacy into learning. Third, the synthesis between digital literacy and religious moderation values can be constructed pedagogically through the stages of digital information exploration, critical reflection, and internalization of values. This research confirms that digital literacy is not neutral, but rather requires values-based pedagogical interventions to foster moderate, inclusive, and contextual religious understanding. Theoretically, this research contributes to the development of an integrative model based on thesis-antithesis-synthesis dialectics in Islamic education. Practically, this research has implications for educational institutions to strengthen teacher capacity, develop digital literacy policies, and create a learning ecosystem that supports religious moderation in the digital era.

Abstract

This study examines al-i‘jāz al-bayānī of the Qur’an through a linguistic approach in order to demonstrate how linguistic features function as a core element of Qur’anic inimitability. Employing qualitative library research, the study analyzes primary Qur’anic texts alongside classical and contemporary scholarly works using descriptive-analytical methods. Linguistic analysis is conducted by integrating semantic, syntactic, and discourse-based perspectives to uncover the relationship between form and meaning in Qur’anic language. The findings reveal that Qur’anic al-i‘jāz al-bayānī is systematically manifested through three interrelated linguistic dimensions. First, lexical precision (ikhtiyār al-alfāẓ) produces a high degree of semantic density, enabling the Qur’an to convey complex theological and moral meanings with remarkable brevity and accuracy. Second, syntactic arrangement (naẓm) demonstrates a harmonious integration between grammatical structure and intended meaning, confirming that Qur’anic syntax functions as a meaning-driven and rhetorically purposeful system. Third, the rhetorical and discursive function of Qur’anic language highlights its persuasive power and communicative effectiveness, engaging readers cognitively, emotionally, and spiritually across diverse contexts. This study concludes that al-i‘jāz al-bayānī is not merely an aesthetic phenomenon, but a comprehensive linguistic system in which lexical choice, syntactic structure, and discourse strategies operate cohesively. By applying linguistic analysis, the study contributes to a more academically rigorous understanding of Qur’anic inimitability and strengthens the integration between classical Islamic scholarship and contemporary linguistic studies.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed social interaction patterns and religious practices among Muslims; however, these changes are not always accompanied by adequate ethical and spiritual awareness. This study aims to comprehensively analyze the integration of digital ethics and spirituality from an Islamic perspective, identify moral and spiritual challenges in digital spaces, and examine the role of Islamic education in fostering spiritually grounded digital ethical awareness. This research employs a qualitative approach based on a systematic literature review, utilizing data sources such as scholarly journal articles, academic books, conference proceedings, and relevant research reports published within the last five years. Data were analyzed through stages of literature reduction, thematic categorization, conceptual synthesis, and theoretical interpretation. The findings indicate that digital ethics in Islam is rooted in moral values such as ṣidq (truthfulness), amanah (trustworthiness), and ihsan (excellence), which must be integrated with spirituality as an internal mechanism for shaping moral consciousness. Major challenges in digital spaces include ethical degradation, spiritual distraction, and the influence of algorithms that shape religious practices in a non-reflective manner. Additionally, a gap exists between normative understanding and actual digital behavior. In this context, Islamic education plays a strategic role as a transformative agent through the internalization of moral values and the strengthening of spiritual dimensions. In conclusion, the integration of digital ethics and Islamic spirituality represents a holistic approach essential for building a digital society that is ethical, civilized, and oriented toward transcendental values.
