Abstract

Abstract

The world of education is experiencing a character crisis in students due to the COVID-19 pandemic, when face-to-face learning is implemented, several cases such as conflict, violence, juvenile delinquency, sexual harassment, and bullying begin to appear in the school and community environment. This is almost felt in all schools, including SMA Al Azhar Menganti Gresik. This study aims to describe the implementation and implications of character education in PAI subjects in the independent curriculum which refers to dimension 1 P5 at Al Azhar Menganti Gresik High School. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were obtained through observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques through data collection, reduction, presentation, and verification of data. The results showed that the implementation of character education in PAI subjects was good. The integration of teaching tools with P5 dimensions, especially dimension 1, can improve character-building in students. School culture also supports the improvement of character building in students. Supporting factors include the concern of the principal, MGMPS PAI, subject teachers, infrastructure, school, and extracurricular programs. The inhibiting factor in the formation of student's character is the limited communication between teachers, cottage caregivers, and students' guardians, and the lack of a sense of discipline of students or teachers in reminding students who are not good.

Abstract

This research focuses on exploring the role of Instagram as a social media platform in building the school's image, with a case study on Public Senior High School 1 Paiton. In today's digital context, social media has become a strategic tool for educational institutions to strengthen their relationships with their communities and promote their values and achievements. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, where data collection techniques include in-depth interviews, direct observations, and analysis of documentation from the school's Instagram account. The results of the study show that the consistent use of Instagram is able to increase public engagement, strengthen relationships with students and parents, and build a positive image of the school in the eyes of the community. Engaging visual content and the use of interactive features such as Instagram Live are key in creating effective two-way communication. The implication of this study is that schools can utilize Instagram not only as an information medium, but also as a strategic tool to shape the image of the institution and build public trust.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the implementation of transformative learning management in building students’ critical awareness in secondary education environments. The transformative approach is considered capable of creating a learning space that not only focuses on mastering the material but also on changing students’ way of thinking about the social reality around them. This study employs a qualitative method with a case study approach in one secondary school that implements a transformative learning model. Data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and analysis of curriculum documents and lesson plan implementation. The results of the study indicate that learning strategies that integrate reflective discussions, contextual issue analysis, and active student empowerment can improve critical thinking skills, social empathy, and student participation in local community issues. The implications of these findings underscore the importance of teacher training in a critical pedagogical approach, as well as the need for school policy support in adopting a more humanistic and participatory curriculum. This study recommends the development of a structured transformative learning management model to improve the quality of meaningful learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implications of internalizing religious values in enhancing character management in a public elementary school with religious diversity. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, using observations, interviews, and documentation involving teachers, students, and school staff. Data analysis was conducted thematically to explore internalization strategies and their impacts on students’ religious character development. The findings highlight that strategies like greeting others, collective prayers, and regular congregational prayers effectively instill religious values inclusively. Teachers’ role modeling through activities like home visits and donations fosters empathy and solidarity across religions. Reward and punishment mechanisms enhance moral awareness and intrinsic motivation. Christian students benefit from tailored activities, such as morning prayers and memorizing Bible verses, which promote tolerance. Overall, the internalization of religious values in a multi-faith school environment contributes to students’ moral, spiritual, and social development. The implications of this study for educational management emphasize the importance of integrating interfaith value internalization into character education programs. School leaders and educators should adopt inclusive strategies, such as role modeling, structured religious activities, and reward mechanisms, to foster moral, spiritual, and social development, thereby ensuring a harmonious learning environment.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the leadership practices of the madrasah principal in enhancing teacher performance. The background of this research is related to the critical role of the principal as a strategic leader in developing the quality of human resources, particularly teachers, who are the primary agents in the learning process. The generally low teacher performance in several educational institutions highlights the need for a transformative and supportive leadership approach. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing data collection techniques that include in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis. The research subjects include the principal, teachers, students, and parents, selected purposively. The findings show that the principal applies a transformational leadership model through academic supervision, continuous monitoring, and the reinforcement of discipline and work ethic. Supervision is conducted in a humanistic and dialogical manner, directly contributing to the improvement of teachers' pedagogical competence. Monitoring serves as a development tool and a systematic performance mapping instrument. Additionally, the principal's exemplary conduct promotes discipline and collective responsibility. The improvement in teacher performance has a positive impact on the quality of learning and stakeholder satisfaction, including that of students and parents.
