Abstract

This study aims to examine the understanding of multiplication as repeated addition among fifth-grade elementary school students in solving multiplication problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study, as the researcher seeks to describe how students solve problems related to the concept of multiplication operations. The subjects of this study were three fifth-grade students from State Elementary School 2 Abepura, Jayapura City, selected to represent different types or groups of problem-solving approaches related to multiplication operations. The subjects were chosen using purposive sampling, which involves selecting participants based on specific criteria or purposes. The research instruments consisted of a test sheet containing essay questions on multiplication and a flexible interview guide. Data were analyzed through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that all three subjects did not understand the concept of multiplication as repeated addition; instead, they relied solely on memorizing multiplication facts.

Abstract

Rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika di MTs Negeri Kota Jayapura, sebuah madrasah di wilayah perbatasan, mencerminkan tantangan kompleks dalam pendidikan matematika di daerah khusus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh kemandirian belajar (self-regulated learning) dan gaya belajar (visual, auditori, kinestetik) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa di MTs Negeri Kota Jayapura. Metode kuantitatif dengan desain survei cross-sectional diterapkan pada sampel 162 siswa yang dipilih secara acak. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan angket dan tes uraian, kemudian dianalisis dengan regresi linier. Hasil penelitian mengungkap temuan yang paradoksal: kemandirian belajar berpengaruh negatif dan signifikan terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah, sementara gaya belajar visual terbukti menjadi prediktor positif terkuat dibandingkan gaya auditori dan kinestetik. Secara simultan, kombinasi variabel-variabel ini hanya menjelaskan 16.4% varians kemampuan pemecahan masalah, mengindikasikan dominannya faktor lain yang tidak terukur. Temuan ini menyoroti ketidakselarasan potensial antara konstruk kemandirian belajar generik dengan tuntutan spesifik pemecahan masalah matematika di konteks MTs Negeri Kota Jayapura. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan pedagogis yang berfokus pada penguatan representasi visual dan pengembangan strategi pembelajaran yang kontekstual diperlukan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika di madrasah perbatasan.

Abstract

Tingkat numerasi siswa Indonesia masih rendah, termasuk di MI Darul Ma’arif Numbay, Papua, yang diperparah oleh keterbatasan pemahaman guru dan bahan ajar kontekstual. Pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam menganalisis dan merancang soal numerasi berbasis budaya lokal Papua. Metode yang digunakan terdiri dari lima tahap terintegrasi: diagnostik awal, pemaparan konsep numerasi (konten, konteks, proses), pendampingan pembuatan soal berbantuan AI, penugasan pengembangan soal, dan evaluasi akhir. Hasilnya menunjukkan 87,5% guru (14 dari 16 peserta) mampu menganalisis komponen soal numerasi secara akurat, dan seluruh guru (100%) berhasil membuat minimal empat soal kontekstual berbasis budaya Papua. Disimpulkan bahwa Workshop dan pelatihan terstruktur berhasil mentransformasi pemahaman guru dan mengoptimalkan integrasi kearifan lokal serta teknologi dalam pengembangan numerasi.

Abstract

Mathematics learning on the topic BRSL, particularly the determination of surface area, is often hampered by the abstract nature of the concept and the lack of adequate visual representation. This condition has the potential to hinder students' conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning abilities. We often find that students' understanding and learning outcomes are low on this material. This luper borubung teaching aid is based on the urgency of developing learning aids that can bridge the gap between theory and visual reality. The results of the application of the luper borubung teaching aid show that 71% of students' learning outcomes are in the good category, creating a more enjoyable and meaningful learning atmosphere because they construct knowledge together in groups. The results of the attitude assessment show a percentage of cooperative attitudes, a responsible attitude , a self-confident attitude, and a meticulous attitude

Abstract

This condition has the potential to hinder students' conceptual understanding and mathematical reasoning abilities. We often find low student understanding and learning outcomes on this material. This luper borubung teaching aid is based on the urgency of developing learning aids that can bridge the gap between theory and visual reality. Students are introduced to the use of the luper borubung teaching aid, then given a test at the end of the activity containing BRSL material. The test results showed 71% of students in the good category. Students are enthusiastic, the learning atmosphere is more enjoyable and meaningful because they construct their own knowledge with the help of the luper borubung teaching aid.
