Abstract

Hospitals as health and social organization bodies provide treatment, hospitalization, outpatient care, and various other activities carried out by workers both medical and non-medical, where interactions that occur dynamically and continuously have the potential for very risky hazards. This study aims to identify potential ergonomic hazards that exist in every work activity in the hospital laundry unit, especially those that can affect the comfort, safety and health of laundry workers. The identification of potential work hazards is conducted using the Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) method to evaluate ergonomic hazard risks. This evaluation is used to determine handling priorities based on the severity and likelihood of the occurrence of ergonomic hazards in hospital laundry. The results of the risk analysis found that the level of hazard risk in the hospital laundry unit is at a high level in the dirty linen collection section with the risk of exposure to contaminated linen with a total score of 15. Next in the weighing, separating and calculating section which comes from lighting with a total score of 12, awkward posture when lifting wet linen with a total score of 12, and finally in the drying section caused by machine noise with a total score of 12.

Abstract

Global economic competition has affected financial condition in Indonesia. It has also impacted economy in Aceh province as one of producers of agricultural resources. This situation results in great challenges for Indonesia’s business owners as economic booster towards national financial stability. To cope with this problem, the study to analyze entrepreneurial charactersistics was conducted. This study aims to evaluate what traits play a great role for maintaining certain business to stay sustainable despite emerging challenges. A systematic literature review was done prior to this study to design a theoritical framework, which attributed to cases from entrepreneurs globally. The methodology used was cross-case analysis to verify the theoritical framework from previous study. About three business owners from Aceh were interviewed to identify the traits that lead them to survive their business especially during COVID-19 pandemic. The result showed that personal initiative plays a significant role in sustaining the enterprise despite external factors that are associated with it.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the damage of the Thresher machine at PT Socfindo Seunagan using the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) method as an effort to identify potential failures, causes, and impacts on the production process. The scope of the study focused on four main components of the thresher machine, namely the thresher drum, shaft and bearings, chain, and gearbox. The research method employed a combination of interviews, direct field observation, and literature reviews. Data analysis used the FMEA approach by determining the type of potential failure, causes, effects caused, control efforts, and calculating the Risk Priority Number (RPN) to determine repair priorities. The results showed that the damage that often occurred included bending/breaking in the thresher drum, cracks in the shaft and bearings, breaks in the chain, and cracks in the gearbox. The highest RPN value was found in the gearbox component at 224, followed by the chain with a value of 96, the thresher drum at 42, and the shaft and bearing at 36. This indicates that the gearbox is the most critical component that requires special attention in care and maintenance. The conclusion of this study is that thresher machine failure has the potential to significantly reduce CPO processing productivity if proper control is not implemented. Therefore, companies need to implement routine maintenance and periodic checks, with a primary focus on the gearbox components, to minimize the risk of damage, extend the machine's lifespan, and maintain optimal production flow.

Abstract

The tofu industry sector in Aceh is a strategic sector to support the community's economy. In every major production, often found waste in the form of liquid waste and solid waste. Substances contained in tofu waste contain polluted substances in the form of BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand), COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and TSS (Total Suspendeal Solid). Energy waste also occurs in the equipment used, as well as having an impact seen from economic and environmental aspects. This research was conducted to identify the amount of waste produced in each tofu production process and to provide alternative proposals for improvement of clean production to minimize the amount of waste produced by the PT.X, Banda Aceh. This research was conducted by collecting primary data obtained directly from the company and interviews. Data processing is carried out using mass diagrams to identify waste and the concept of good house keeping clean production, material changes, technological changes, product changes and on-reuse sites. Waste produced in the form of solid waste is 5 grams of spilled soybean and pulp as much as 168 kg, while liquid waste is 109.8 L of water, 15.4 L of scattered water, 953 L of whey and 953 L of vinegar. The results of the identification get as many as 19 problems that will be given a proposal for the implementation of clean production by providing the principle of good house keeping of technological change and site on reuse.

Abstract

One of the most prominent types of home industries operated by local entrepreneurs is the food processing sector, particularly the production of skin crackers.  However, the production process remains predominantly manual, with workers performing each stage such as cutting, drying, frying, and packaging either individually or in groups. Such manual operations inherently expose workers, especially older individuals, to ergonomic risks. Many workers have reported experiencing musculoskeletal discomfort, including rheumatic pain and muscle stiffness, due to prolonged and repetitive tasks. This study aims to analyze workers’ upper body postures to identify potential musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) Questionnaire and to evaluate work postures using the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) method. Data were collected through structured interviews and direct field observations in the skin cracker home industry. The results indicate a RULA score of 7 for all key production processes cutting, drying, frying, and packaging, corresponding to Action Level 4, which signifies that immediate investigation and corrective action are required. The recommended measures include implementing regular stretching or exercise between work activities, redesigning workstations and tools based on workers’ anthropometric data and task requirements, regulating working hours to not exceed eight hours per day, and conducting periodic layout reorganization and workplace maintenance to enhance safety and productivity.
